Four thunderstorms, actually, although the first was more like a hurricane, it was so bad. 
Had one here this evening as well, and yes, I enjoyed it on your behalf. 
California is burning, too; Howard and I had planned to visit Yosemite but since the park was on fire, we found other things to do. Never saw any of the fires but the smoke was everywhere. 
Had a truly fantastic time a the Con, too; there's a bunch of pics in my DeviantArt gallery (mostly of cosplayers at the moment) from the event, should you be interested in looking. (Just don't look elsewhere on the site; dA is a cesspool. )
If the opportunity ever arises, you and Carlos should join us during one of my regular trips to Howard's place. It's hot as hell, yeah, but the humidity is reasonable (usually), the desert is fascinating, and the local Mexican restaurants are amazing. Pretty sure I gained 10 pounds last week, but I had a dang good time doing it.
