A PSA 727 collided with a Cessna 172 at 9 am on 25 Sep 1978. Both went down in neighborhoods in the Northpark area in San Diego. It was the airline's, the state's, and the US's worst air disaster. It would be superceded by the American Airlines DC-10 going down at Chicago's O'hare airport 8 months later.
