A chav is a certain kind of person. Usually it refers to a person of low birth but that's not the main point of chavhood. They like to wear man-made fabrics and sporty type clothes whilst being consumers of junk food, cheap alcohol and cigarettes. Lady Chavs tend like celebrity culture and male Chavs like violence. Perhaps I'm being unfair. Anyway it was really the junk-food bit I was referring to.
