Unfortunately, I only got to watch this one in bits and pieces since I had other things going on at home.
However, I did like the little bit of it that I saw. I'll have to rewatch it when I get the chance-it looks like a good episode. ![]() Last edited by Chaos Wielder; 06-14-2007 at 07:44 PM. |

Man, I've not posted here in days...being busy sucks.
![]() Anyway, I finally got a chance to see "Say It Isn't Sew", about a month later than everyone else, and I think I'm going to have to agree with Mr. Marshmallow on this one; this episode just seemed incredibly pedestrian to me. Conceptually, it was almost as thin as "Cheese A Go-Go" - you could write the plotlines for both of those episodes on the back of one postage stamp - but the earlier episode at least compensated for that with a certain lunatic energy and an unusually high gags-per-minute rate. This one, on the other hand, seemed to just coast along on the assumption that its central premise was inherently funnier than it actually was, resulting in an episode curiously lacking in narrative drive, character development or even actual jokes, particularly in the first half; a few visual gags hit the target (the Psycho and Powerpuff references, the rollercoaster miming, Bloo playing with the preschool toys), but outside of Wilt and Jackie's banter I don't actually remember any writing that came close to the normal Foster's wit. This episode for me also showcased the most trying aspects of both Bloo and Madame Foster. There's far more to Bloo's character than being a hyperactive spolied brat, but that's all we see of him here, and it didn't help that Keith Ferguson decided to either scream or whine 95% of his lines this time out. Madame Foster, meanwhile, demonstrated precisely why she's always been one of my least favourite characters; we're supposed to assume that she's a kindly and adorable old dear, but the show hardly ever seems to actually bother showing her as such, instead focusing far too heavily on her belligerently crazy moments, to the extent that she just seems loud, unhinged and unpleasant. Foster's has a great and varied cast of multifaceted characters, but I feel that Season Five has thus far failed to take proper advantage of that, too often contenting itself with wacky scenarios and daft setpieces, and seeming all too happy to boil personalities down to their most basic (and often unappealing) elements. ![]() ...yikes, didn't mean that to come off as such a downer! I do like having Foster's back, but "Say It Isn't Sew" still has to rate as one of my least favourite episodes so far, and another contributor to my feeling that this season is punching a little below its weight so far. Still, there's another ten episodes to put things right, and the preview for "Something Old, Something Bloo" (which the rest of you will most likely have already seen!) does look quite encouraging...make us proud, guys! ![]()

Yeah, I unfortunately have to agree with Ditchy's synopsis of the episode. Although I had fewer problems with the episode, I found it just as trying. But, like I said, there are some who really dig this episode, and more power to you. And Ditchy, (and others who have more in common with my tastes), you're gonna love Something Old, Something Bloo.

I would have to disagree with "Ditchy"
I would agree that the plot is a bit thin and can be writen on the back of a Stamp. However I found the episode very enjoyable. Have you ever been trapped waiting for others in a store? sometimes Cabin Fever sets in, (even though it may have been 10 min) it seems like hours and months past by. THis episode brought back many nalstagic memories of being in stores when I was a child. go to the play section (if the store had one) and they had like three broken toys. If you found crayons they were always broken. I think the slow movement of the episode was appropiate because it gave the fealling of being trapped and BORED. I give think the last few episodes were put together in a well maner, and were very enjoyable (even if they lack merrit on other sides). Maybe these episodes are more of a "Have you experienced/observed something of similar?" instead of a "Watch the good story" MOnty ![]() |

However, just because an idea is smart doesn't necessarily mean it's going to make for a very entertaining half hour cartoon show and stay "fresh" for 30 minutes straight. Maybe if they had more jokes in it, or maybe had Mac able to interact with Bloo IN the store, it might have been more interesting. But otherwise, it's a nice concept sticker on a rather bland/average package.

Just wrapped up watching this episode a few moments ago and I will have to put myself with the group of people who thought this episode was fantastic. Because like the others, I can so relate to almost everything that happened to Bloo within this episode. Yes this episode is dedicated to anyone who has ever been stuck in the most boring stores imaginable whilst your caregiver manages to turn "one minuet" into seemingly an eternity. And in classic Foster's fashion it's great to see it happen to someone else and not yourself.
To use that old chestnut "It's funny because it's true."

I'm sorry ..but i'll hv to disagree here. I dont think bloo has failed completely, true, he has vomit on the coaster and lose to mac. But he did manage to 'escape' from Madame Foster in the sewing shop. It is really sad to see once again they neglected to portrait madame foster as the sweet old lady she is in this episode, as in Fosters goes to Europe and the Foster short Birthday cake Bloos. I think the production team think this episode desperately needed an antagonist , and sadly this goes to madame foster again. I really like Bloo in this episode, sure he screams all the time, and trys to take a shortcut resulting in more delay But in the ends he escape through his clever schemes. I mean, isnt this what we like about bloo? His witty and quick character?...and i understand his feelings as well, i too has once been trapped in a shop for hours. i also remember this small detail in this episode that bloo crossed the road holding the 'stop' sign. though unwilling, he helped the old lady across the street. and when he was about to enter the fair, he saw the bunch of childeren wanting to cross the road too so he helped them as well...he seemed annoyed to do this, but i think we see deep down, bloo has a good heart... his ways to get away from the shop was funny too, and so original.i thoroughly enjoyed this episode...
