I'm not surprised weather was a factor. Sounds like your part of the country wasn't well-prepared for the event that took place. 
Did you at least have cell phone service (which I know you only use to make calls, whenever necessary)?
No new stuff to report. The IT work search is continuing. I did ask the person Howard mentioned if he's hiring. No response, I guess that answers my question. I've applied for a few more places. I'm actually going to look for seasonal or part-time work, just in case I get nowhere in the tech work hunt (that will not stop, by the way).
