I used something like that for an episode idea once:
Episode #701, "The Horror"
Title card sound: the Sesame Street theme played on a kazoo
Mac gets detention and misses his daily deadline at Foster's, so Mr. Herriman gleefully puts Bloo up for adoption. Kip Snip arrives at the House, claiming to be a changed man since his time in prison, and would like to adopt an Imaginary Friend to star in a children's TV show he's producing. Naturally, he chooses Bloo, who loudly protests as Kip drags him away while Mr. Herriman happily waves bye-bye. Mac finally shows up after they're gone and searches frantically for Bloo. In the meantime, Bloo is trapped in Kip's house and meets his co-stars/roommates; Barney, Elmo, Strawberry Shortcake, Big Bird, and other assorted children's TV pests. Mac and Frankie and the gang rush off to retrieve Bloo, but in the meantime Bloo has the MOST ANNOYING DAY EVER.
Credit sequence gag: Bloo standing outside a PBS station, holding a "Barney Sucks" protest sign.
Yeah.
