Personally I love the name Cruella de Vil - it's hard to imagine anyone in real life allowing themselves to be stuck with it, but in the context of the story it works.
In the Disney film, the whole liver-spotted dalmatian subplot is excised, so Pongo's mate inherits her moniker instead, and is much more intelligent in the film than she is the book. I very much recommend the Disney classic, though unfortunately, it did fall victim to a rather obnoxious Disney practice which originated in the 90s but fortunately didn't really catch on (as the DTV cheapquels sadly did) - that is, to remake their old animated classics in live action. That and the Jungle Book were the only ones they actually got around to doing, I believe. Aside from the fact that Mark Williams and Hugh Laurie are in it, the remake seriously doesn't have anything going for it. Oh, and also there's a dog in it named Kip(per), but they don't actually say his name in the film itself, so what's the freaking point?
