Might be worth trying to find somebody trustworthy to adopt her. I really wish I could help, it's a terrible situation. You know being such a old relic and everything I've often felt that I've got as much in common with the parents of some of you NF youngsters and hoped that with having one foot in each world I could help with the communication problems caused by that generation gap. Frankly though I think this decision by your parents is deeply regrettable. There's been times in the last couple of years when the money's been so short that the humans in this house have gone hungry but the cat never has. We have a duty of care toward her and she depends on us. I hope for one thing that you've stopped as a family eating junk food from Macdonalds etc which you've often mentioned. That stuff costs much more money than the food is worth nutritionally and will taste increasingly bitter if you've funded it by abandoning your furry friend. Sorry to have to be so blunt about it and to ramble on.
However if things are so bad that even eating is an issue then you might have to swallow the harsh logic that life has thrown at you as people up and down this civilisation are having to do. Part of adulthood is having to take a deep breath and take what comes and deal with the regret later.
