Okay, this shocked me even more than Farah Fawcett passing away.

Yeah, he was a little...off, but the man made great music. And he was just about to start a new tour at the O2 Arena in July. R.I.P. Michael, you will be truly missed.

Oh. My. WORD!! This is such a shock! Moreso than McMahon and Fawcett, since we knew they weren't doing so well. He was really messed up, but I liked some of his music back in the 80s, and 70s too for that matter. As if that family doesn't have enough to deal with, now they have this. Wow, these things do happen in threes (at least it did this time). RIP Micheal. You'll always be a legend.

No way. Still being reported as a cardiac arrest here, rather than as a fatality. I'd like to think he's still alive as I can't remember a time when he wasn't around and it seems strange to think of him as not among us in his truly odd way. Even before his changes began he was kind of other-worldly just because of his incredible singing and dancing talent and I still think that 'One day in your life' is possibly the most beautiful peice of singing I've ever heard. It's kind of androgenous and pure, full of emotions he was only beginning to explore on his long, often troubled journey.

I was sad about FF too. The original angels were way the best.

Edit: You know we were speculating recently on how Michael was going to get out of his O2 gigs as it seemed impossible they were going to happen. This is no way. 50! Crikey I'd only have 15 years left if that's the age I check out. There's just no time is there? Just in case it is me tomorrow, I love you so much! I wish I'd spent more time but it's all too late. Hey, remember Lisa's birthday song? God, that was so beautiful. This is weird. Hey I didn't know i could quote myself. Totally didn't mean to do that. I'm a bit dazed.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy

FF is a different story - but MJ never impressed me.

Michael Jackson is the ultimate example of how talent, success and fame can be negative and destructive things to happen to a person despite how our popular culture revolves around them. Personal weaknesses can be magnified and left unchallenged, and ordinary folks stop treating one like a normal person creating dangerous isolation and a limited social circle of other victims of fame and talent going nuts in their palaces. Elvis, for example, would probably lived a longer and more contented life had he still been in a shack somewhere eating squrrels and playing with string.
