I've never played a Zelda game! Can you help?! - Never Forgotten: a Foster's Home Community

I am a big Nintendo fan, and over the years have owned an N64, a Gamecube and currently a Wii (I also have a DS). However, one series of games I have never gotten into is the Legend of Zelda.

I feel I am missing out, and whilst I have only recently joined this forum, I've seen a lot of topics about computer games. I was wondering if anybody could help introduce me to this vast and mysterious franchise, briefly explain the setting, and give me some advice on where to start.

The Wii is capable of playing all the old Zelda games, but I was once told I should play Ocarina of Time first.

Any advice would be appreciated!
