Default OBIT: Saturday morning TV, 1951-2014

The CW Kids cartoon block Vortexx will have its plug pulled this September and will be replaced by "One Magnificent Morning," a five-hour block of E/I live-action fare for teenagers and their parents. This officially brings traditional Saturday morning TV as we've known it to an end after 63 years.

NBC fired the first salvo in 1992 when they scuttled cartoons in favor of live-action teen fare; it has recently been running pre-school fare in conjunction with Sprout (a cable/satellite channel of pre-schooler programs). Fox jettisoned their Saturday morning shows in 2010 and replaced it with Weekend Marketplace. ABC replaced theirs two years ago with "Litton Weekend Adventure," and CBS dumped theirs last year for "CBS Dream Team."
