I think I know where Foster's is located!

Wow, that is one spectacular Gothic-Victorian mansion, me likey! *starting to day dream, but then realizes the daydream has nothing to do with her favorite TV show* Eh hem,... Anyway, yeah, I'm wondering too if one or more of the Foster's crew saw that and POOF! The inspiration behind the Foster's mansion!

As for the many who believe Foster's is in the Northwestern US, particularly Washington State, I hereby promise I shall keep my eyes peeled. If I see a little blue blob running around, I will tackle him to the ground and bring him home so everyone can say "Hi" personally. That also goes for a little mop-haired 8 year old boy, a pretty red-head punk rocker, a little old lady with a bun almost as big as her head, a tall willowy amputee, a purple bull and a bird/plant/airplane thing. Although, I shouldn't have to tackle any of them.

I believe that they live in the Seattle suburbs. Everything that's been mentioned in the show just falls into place there.

That's what I think, too. The weather where Foster's is located is too cold in winter for whatever part of California that lovely mansion in the photo is located. Seattle wouldn't be that far from Canada, either, though a drive to Hollywood would be one heckuva day trip! The rabbits in "Camp Keep a Good Mac Down" mentioned wolves, and there are no wolves left in California, though there have been many sightings in Washington state that indicate they have returned to that state. The way people talk, the general atmosphere, everything pretty much points to somewhere near Seattle in that series.

I guess this is what they meant by just being the Pacific Northwest. It seems that it's more of a hodgepodge of the entire region rather than one specific location. Much like Hey Arnold!, which seemed to take primary inspiration from the Borough of Brooklyn but is actually a major city near the Washington/Canada border. And has plenty of evidence throughout the series to back up such a claim rather than just a random placing done by creators year later.

So looks like we've got a Metropolis on our hands if you get my drift.

In my opinion Pacific Northwest would be at most Washington & Oregon...I don't think of California much as Pacific Northwest...maybe Northern =P

As everyone said- I think I have to agree with them. Everything points to Seattle area. But I think there's a few things that could come from other major cities as well.

Well, Northern California is considered the Pacific Northwest according to some. One thing that puts my doubts to Seattle is the presence of snow. From what I remember hearing from some relatives who've lived there for almost 20 years now, snow isn't plentiful in the Puget Sound region.

For what its worth, I have lived in California all my life and have never heard of Northern California being referred to as the Pacific Northwest...Just thought I'd say.

I was raised in California, I been to Fairfield to visit my cousins and my mom's sister in Northern California. I haven't been near the Pacific Coast though, it were be awesome if the foster's home were near a beach.

True, it's not plentiful, but we do get some. Every winter we get some type of snow storm, whether only a few inches fall or a whole foot. Last winter we got a big storm where many areas in the Seattle metro area got over a foot of snow, and it was on the ground for over a week. However, that wasn't the norm. The norm is probably two or three storms each winter, between 1 and 6 inches of the white stuff falling in each, and it remaining on the ground for only two or three days before melting.

But in the show, "A Lost Clause" is the only episode where we really see any snow. And then there's the little snippits of Goo in "Go Goo Go". But it still seems to me it could be in the Seattle area. And then there's "Cookie Dough", where it's cold, windy and rainy in "the middle of winter" instead of there being snow on the ground. Yes, that's Seattle to the "T".

Like I said most likely a hodgepodge of places all over the Northwestern Region of the United States. I just thought that Humboldt County made a lot of sense for primary inspiration, but in no way the static location. I would also rule out Seattle as static location either.

What I meant by a Metropolis on our hands, is that in comics the city of Metropolis has had the distinction along with other cities of "walking around." Since the beginning of this very decade it's moved from the state of Delaware to the state of New York, no questions asked. And if you take in all the factors it seems the city that Foster's is set in has done that too. Seattle is approximately 1,131 miles away from Hollywood, and seeing as it seems to stress realism more than most cartoons, it's likely that that episode was set in California, as well as Seize the Day. Likewise, Imposter's was set in the good ol' state of Washington. It seems there's enough evidence to support all our claims.

However I tip my hat to Newsom and Newsom for building the Carson Mansion. What eye they have for style. Even if it weren't the inspiration for the house, this Queen Anne masterpiece is a wonder to behold.
