The Emmys aren't a true measure of talent. Just looking at the gaps between this and last years nominees shows how the Emmys only real purpose is to give new shows some recognition and pay respect to older series who are either very popular or are coming to a close.
The Simpsons has been running for, geez I don't even know how long, and is highly respected among both critical circles and the general public. Not to mention, it's recent decline in quality most likely spells out the end of the series at some point in the near future. The award wasn't for the superiority of the, The Simpsons' nominated episode over all the others. It was for the legacy of The Simpsons as a whole. Foster's will have it's day, eventually. We'll just have to be patient. For now, it's still a huge honor to be nominated in it's first year.

The whole "paying respect to legendary still-running shows" belief held by the Emmys is absolute garbage. The Simpsons have long been ingrained as a permanent staple of pop culture history--IT DOES NOT NEED ANY MORE AWARDS. I wouldn't be so angered if it went to Family Guy, since it was fresh from it's comeback year after much struggling by it's fans, and I believe it's yet to win this category.
Quite frankly, I'm not so optimistic Foster's will ever win this award. It looks like mainstream attention has turned to adult-oriented cartoons(Just look at this year's Teen Choice Awards--ALL the cartoons nominated were adult oriented), which is unfortunate to me at least, because it seems most adult cartoons seem more concerned with zany pop-culture references and blatantly controversial episodes than telling stories with actual heart. |

If Family Guy had won, I would be more angered than anything else because, in my honest opinion, it's a bad show and doesn't deserve any more unfounded praise (again, my opinion here, folks, don't kill me). The only show besides Foster's that I would be 100% a'okay with winning would have been South Park, just to see what the reaction of the Scientologists in the crowd would have been.

I agree. The producers of the Emmys always choose adult-oriented cartoons that have been there for more than 10000 years. They never actually look at the story itself. Go Goo Go, should have won as it was a kind and heart warming story.

It's a shame really, but not entirely surprising. It's part of the reason why I hardly watch award shows anymore.

24 didn't deserve to get the 'Best Actor in a Drama Series', we all know Denis Leary totally deserves that award. He's gone from being a comic with a bad attitude to actually crying on screen. I say that's talent! (I may be a bit biased, i'm a Leary Fan.) He was robbed!
