koosie: I assume you're referring to the
recently announced Tintin movie trilogy from Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson? What makes you say that's a bad idea? ??? They're fast-paced, exciting adventure/mystery stories filled with exotic locales, memorable characters and great action setpieces; I'd say they're potentially fabulous movie material, provided Jackson and Spielberg are able to capture the charm of Herge's brilliant artwork in their visual design. Unless you're saying you just don't like
Tintin...in which case you'll have me (and Craig McCracken!) to answer to...
The Sims, on the other hand...how on earth could that possibly work? ??? The point of
The Sims is that you've got characters living a normal life, but that you can control them. Doesn't removing the "control" part render the whole excercise pointless? Unless, as has been speculated, the movie will be actually about someone controlling someone else's life, but that's an idea that's been done before as well (
The Truman Show and
Stranger Than Fiction spring to mind), and by far better and more intelligent filmmakers, so that strikes me as pointless too...I dunno, this just sounds like an incredibly poorly-conceived cash-in to me.
