I think it would throw a lot of people off-guard, too, if Wilt's creator turned out to be female, since many people DO assume that boy are the ones who are primarily going to be obsessed with sports and sports celebrities.
I, too, will be disappointed by a lack of deep emotional moments in
Good Wilt Hunting, though I would definately want it to end on a positive note. I want to finally see Wilt have some sort of closure to this particular chapter in his life, since it is apparently causing him some problems even now. If that's not what's generating his emotional/mental turmoil, SOMETHING sure is!
