While snakes are just fine and dandy in my book (I kept a small orange/white colored one in my room), I can understand why some people dislike and/or fear them. My grandmother grew an extreme fear of snakes because as a child, she encountered them everyday where she lived. During one of our trips to the Grand Canyon, I had to pick a stuffed snake toy for my 10-year-old cousin (who loves snakes) for my grandmother because she couldn't so much as even
look at it. She gave me the money to pay for it and then had me carry the bag and put it away in the back of our caravan, away from her view. Like ORD said, everybody has different experiences with reptiles; many, which I had come to learn, are FAR from pleasant.
