Having resurrected the Best Animated Feature Oscar Submissions thread, I feel a thread for the Academy Awards in general is in need here. Plus, I don't want to start another thread for this recent announcement. The Academy has 15 films in running for Best Visual Effects:

In January, the Academy will narrow the list down to seven. The Academy will view 15-minute clips of the seven films, and then will narrow it down to three.
