Return of The Banana Splits

Yes, Drooper told Fleegle "We're bringing the band back together". And Snorky and Bingo are coming along for the ride as well.

The Banana Splits, the faux rock band created by Hanna-Barbara in the late 1960's are coming back together to be on Cartoon Network September 2 (the day after Labor Day in the USA and Canada) with new footage between 9 AM and 2 PM ET/PT. It's part of CN's latest attempt to try to attempt to capture the pre-school audience they lag behind thanks to PBS Kids, Discovery Kids, Playhouse Disney and Nick Jr. Also, Boomerang will repeat the older series (from 1969 and 1970) as well that day.

I thought myself it was kinda weird...but that's me.

And perhaps you'd like to offer an opinion of the show in addition to simply announcing it's return before you get another PM on the topic of "Subject-Only" threads? ::)

I saw the reruns ages ago; good show as I recall. The only segment I remember was something they called "Danger Island", but there were others as well. Might be worth checking out again, assuming CN doesn't find a way to mess it up (giant splash ads, anyone?). :P

Whats with the sudden resurrection of 70's kid shows all of the sudden?

First I hear The Electric Company is returning in 09, now this. I guess it's true what they say, "Everything Old is New Again."

As for the Splits themselves, Meh it won't be the same without Paul Winchell and you know they'll find someway to mess up the iconic theme music. (See: Jungle, George Of The.)
