RIP George Carlin

Wow. He was 71, and he had heart problems, but it still seems shocking when such a prominent person dies.

Whoa...I know Carlin wasn't a young guy by any means, but it surprised me.

Mr. Marshmallow 06-22-2008 09:30 PM

Oh......my.......god......:wiltshock:

He was my freaking hero, my idol, my favorite comedian of all time.

:'( This truly sucks big time, we just lost a brilliant, genius man. I can't freaking believe this. I mean I LOVED that guy! I really loved all of his work.

R.I.P George Carlin.............you will be eternally missed.

Wow, this was unexpected. He was one of the greats; he'll be sorely missed by a lot of people. :sadbendy:

Kootiebirdo 06-22-2008 09:41 PM

Well... the most that can be said now is that vulgar comedy will never be the same again.:(

R.I.P. you funny son-of-a-bi*beep*ch.:'(

Ridureyu 06-22-2008 09:47 PM

He was incredibly funny, much like an irate Santa Claus.

Mr. Marshmallow 06-22-2008 10:00 PM

In honor of him, I changed my signature picture. He was truly the funniest man I have ever seen and I learned a great deal from him in ways of humor and just general real life things.

Love you forever Carlin, love you forever *raises glass*

Despite my love of shock humor, I was never a big fan of Carlin's, not so much because of his style of humor as much as some other factors. That's not to say that I don't respect Carlin: it's uncertain whether shock humor would've ever gotten widespread notice and become anything more than a niche group had Carlin never come onto the scene.

So, while I didn't necessarily care for him, per se, he was a genuine icon and innovator of a genre I love, and he'll be dearly missed.

Edit: Maybe I should elaborate. While I won't get into detail upon the factors as to why I had a hard time stomaching some of Carlin's work, I wouldn't call him a bad man, so please don't take that out of my post. What I'm attempting to say is, that while I may not have necessarily liked Carlin himself, I have the utmost respect for him as a comedian and entertainer. I don't think anyone could conceivably argue that Carlin hasn't, in some way, touched several lives if even slightly through his humor.

I'm starting to think that I'm bad luck. Scatman John died shortly after I got into his music and now Carlin died just after I started watching some of his comedy acts. R.I.P Mr. Carlin.:(

Nuuuuuuuu! Not George Carlin!! D=

Why must all good people die? :(

RIP, George Carlin...we love you forever.
