Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
It may sound like a late April Fool's joke, but this video is anything but.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSt6uBMHJQE I'm quite skeptical of Midway's decision to developing this game, but I am certain most hardcore fans aren't pleased by this. Seriously, though, I think Midway went over the edge with this latest entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise. |
It's like Marvel vs Street Fighter... in REVERSE!

OooooOOooOOOoooo....

Meh, I don't like DC except Batman so this is a pass for me. If it was Marvel it'd be a different story.

This is the first time DC has really been able to get into a fighting game franchise and have some quality work put behind it. I'm really looking forward to it, I think its going to be VERRRY interesting. |
Now this is a big surprise! I'm not too hyped since I've always been a loyal Street Fighter fan and I grew up with Marvel. I can see this working though. The grittier world of DC certainly compliments the brutal nature of Mortal Kombat in much the same way that Marvel and Capcom seemed to fit so well together. I wonder if Batman has any Shokan repellent for Goro?8D

Mortal Kombat Vs. DC?
Oh PLEASE! Batman can whoop 'em ALL!! |
The thing that gets me about it is how many things are being cut that are usually in a MK game, such as fatalities and another ending moves. There's also the fact that Mortal Kombat hasn't been a good franchise for awhile, it's last noteworthy game being MK 2.
Really, I just don't see it working. I could've seen a Capcom vs. DC, but not a Mortal Kombat vs. DC. Which is sad, because I adore the DC universe, and I just don't see this turning out very well. Quote:

I'm with you there, Nathander. In my opinion, MK should really have remained a relic of the 90's. With the levels of violence in videogames these days MK just feels tame. Without the controversy surrounding it anymore, MK just doesn't have a leg to stand on. But it still has a strong and loyal fanbase and that must count for something, I suppose.
