The Rain.....

Do you like rainy weather? Personally, I love it, though this may be due only to the fact that I live in Texas, where rain is horribly, horribly scarce. Seriously, it's like a true godsend whenever we get any, and I can't help but enjoy that. I've also noticed that, as I've gotten older, I've come to enjoy lightniing and thunder.

How do you feel about it?

BlooCheese 11-05-2006 08:16 PM

I love the rain.
I don't get much rain over here, too, but when I do, boy, is it refreshing! The sky always seems bluer after it rains, and all nature seems to have been cleansed.
Thunder storms are always fun, except the air tends to get really muggy and unbearably humid. Lightning is spectacular to watch, but I don't like it when it short-circuits my power.

lol the rain caused my apartments parking lot to flood (the drain is plugged )=)

I HATE rain! I'm an outdoorsy type, and often have many outdoor chores to do after I get home from work, and rain makes doing those really miserable. On rainy days, when my students can't go outside for recess, their behavior gets much worse, as if it weren't already bad enough! I myself find it difficult to really wake up and get going(especially with having to wake up at 5:00 am)on rainy days, and with a 40-minute commute to work, down some not-so-well-maintained backroads, rain makes my drive to and from work even more hazardous, and makes it more difficult to spot the Kamikaze deer BEFORE they leap out in front of my vehicle! It turns my dog kennels into muddy messes, making the dogs miserable as well as myself. I also tend to associate rain with storms, and while I like watching lightning, I don't really like the fact that it can kill me, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Fortunately, we have had a rather dry fall, so far, which means I've had to put up with less rain and enjoy the fall leaves in full glory, for once. If there's a rainy fall, the leaves just turn brown and rot and fall off.

I LOVE rain!!! It's so hot where I live that when we get rain near the fall and winter months, it's almost guaranteed to bring a cold front with it. I love it when it gets cold around here because it rarely ever DOES.

billytheskink 11-06-2006 07:27 AM

I like rainy Texas days, unless I'm going to a baseball game or something, or if I'm walking somewhere with poor drainage (which happens far too often).

lucyrocks73 11-06-2006 11:27 AM

Here in the North East US, we get rain all the time.

I usually love the rain. There's something about how the cold rain numbs everything. It makes you want to spin around in circles, feeling the icy drops on your face and your hair whipping around your head like wet noodles.

At the same time, it annoys me when I'm outside. For instance, the first three football games were rainy, and my flute did not like it. Neither did my band uniform, which had to be rung out.

But I think the good outweighs the bad, so I will close with this statement:

Yay for rain!!!

We get rain over here in Britain alot. I find it fun when I do my little skit of "Singin' In The Rain", all my friends just go "Yep, she's bonkers."

Ah... Now I don't feel so alone...

Just kidding.

I do that all the time, though...

I'm a tap dancer, and there's something about the puddles that make you want to dance in them...

Really? I just like to jump (barefoot) in them.

In Arizona, the joke is: if the average rainfall is six inches - we get it in ONE fell swoop!

We're just about to start the rainy season here (it's the Hawaiian equivalent of winter). So it'll be raining pretty much every day for a while. But the rainbows over the mountains are nice.

Monty :-/

SkittleMonkey 11-20-2006 06:10 PM

You should be happy. Where I live, it NEVER snows!

Nathander 11-20-2006 07:00 PM

I wish we got snow down here. Heck, I wish our temperature we could below fifty degrees more often down here. :P

montitech 11-20-2006 07:04 PM

Yeh, I do enjoy having all the 4 seasons with most types of weather.

I personally hate the Hail,

butback to the topic RAIN is usually OK.
but I hate when the Lightning lands nearby.

Jabberwocky 11-20-2006 09:06 PM

Yeah, normally, but I live in Ohio and we've been getting this freezing half-snow half-rain slushy snirt.

scary_dream 11-20-2006 11:13 PM

We usually have snow like, once a year, and rain is usually frequent, except in the summer, but who knows? The weather here is SO screwed up that it got down to 30 Sunday and on Thursday, it's supposed to get up to 80. You can't even plan for crap like that!

Ditto. We haven't even hit the 60's down here. We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving with an 85 degree weather.
Rain? I love it when we actually do get it. :3

Howard 11-21-2006 03:21 PM

I wish we could get more rain (we need it), and I am tired of sleeping with the windows open - I wish it would get cold so I can try out my new heater!

I LOVE RAIN!! Rain always makes me feel comfortable, and it always make me strangely happy!

I seem to love the dark clouds, the lound pitter patter, the cracking thunder, ahhhh, rain!

That's pretty much how I feel about it, too. Few things fascinate me like a good violent thunderstorm. I'm not too pleased if the power goes out, but other than that I love 'em. :)

That just summed it up quite beautifully for me. :3 I'm usually too busy whining and moaning about the heat, I completely forgot about the pleasures of a nice rainy day. It's so rare around here, it's always the talk of the town when we actually get relatively strong rain. Our power always flickers and goes out, and people get excited about that, too. :p
