Foster's comes to Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

You guessed it, there's going to be a Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends float (sponsored by Cartoon Network) in the 2006 Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade. the event airs on your local NBC station (except in Detroit for some odd reason) on November 23rd at 9 AM local time.

I was pretty happy about this news, until I realized that the NBC affiliate I get on my cable is the Detroit affiliate. :wiltshock:

Thornwhistle 10-30-2006 05:23 PM

Yay,that is good news. I'll be watching for them.

Kzinistzerg 10-30-2006 06:26 PM

REALLY? holy ... WHich characters?

Cassini90125 10-30-2006 06:28 PM

If I tune in it'll be the first time I've ever deliberately watched it.

One Radical Dude 10-30-2006 06:51 PM

Someone should record the Foster's float, for those that are unable to view it. I knew that this show would eventually get its own float for the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Sparky 10-30-2006 08:55 PM

Sure I'll record it. But I won't watch it while its recording, I'll just scan through it on tape later, because I frikkin hate the stupid Macy's parade. :P (lol)

One Radical Dude 10-30-2006 09:08 PM

I don't watch as much of the parade as I used to, but that's because I haven't really been up long enough to see it. And why in the world would Detroit not air it? Do people hate the parade over there? :wiltshock:

Invader Bloo 10-31-2006 06:01 PM

I always watch the parade, I'll egarly await this one! I still hate CN for airing the movie that day.

lucyrocks73 10-31-2006 06:18 PM

In my family, we watch the parade as we set up and cook for the huge Thanksgiving dinner at my aunts.

But of course, I shall be even more glued to the TV, like I was for the Emmys.

Me: "Hey Mama, I'm just going to wait for-"

Mama: "Yes, Rosemary, you'll wait to see if Foster's wins and then go to bed. You've told me six times."

Except it'll be more like this:

Me: "Ooh, I can't wait for the-"

Mama:"-Foster's float and the Charlie Brown balloon."

The Charlie Brown balloon has always been my favorite.

Ditto. *IF* I tune in, also. I've actually never much minded the Macy's TDP (too lazy to spell the whole thing out). I just abhor getting up early. Unless the house is burning down, I'm not getting out of bed before 11.

lucyrocks73 11-01-2006 02:37 AM

Eh, you're right... Je suis d'accord, as I'd say in French- I agree.

But still- there's nothing like the thrill of knowing that you watched the premiere of it... Something's cool about it.

Scribble 11-01-2006 06:26 AM

Haha I was just thinking how cool it would be to have a Foster's float in a parade (our parades here are pretty pants). I'll check it out if anyone's nice enough to record it. ;)

Imaginary Light 11-01-2006 11:38 AM

Cool, I always watch the parade. It's tradition. So I'll totally be looking forward to the Foster's float!

billytheskink 11-01-2006 12:21 PM

Guess I'll have to tape it. I go to local parade every year down here.

Still, quite cool to have Foster's as part of the Macy's parade.

Bummer, eh?

taranchula 11-01-2006 03:38 PM

Ah, no sense crying over spilt milk, I could just catch the highlights on the net later that day.

WDIV, the local NBC affiliate, telecasts the annual Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade (which many old-timers remember as the J. L. Hudson's Thanksgiving Day Parade) instead. There's a word for that. It's called making money.

Ricky Fieldmouse 11-04-2006 03:05 PM

This will probably be my 2nd favorite Macy's float. (#1 being the Sonic float =D)

Chaos Wielder 11-05-2006 11:28 AM

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? Hmm...that sounds pretty cool. If I find the time I'll TRY to tune in...it will definitely be something that shouldn't be missed (I know my mom will see it for a fact-she absolutely LOVES this parade and she even likes Foster's as well, so I think she'll be pleasantly surprised...I'm not going to tell her so it'll be a surprise and when she sees it she'll be like "oh! It's a Foster's float! XD".

The Foster's Float and the new Jumping Pikachu balloon will be the ones I'll be watching.

"C" the Dragon 11-05-2006 04:45 PM

I might see it this year. Depends on the crowd and time and place, and since I've heard that it'll be in Detroit, I may be going, because I live near Detroit! YAY!!! I'm lucky to be in Michigan!:D:bloogrin:)

bloonuggets 11-14-2006 07:22 PM

Ummm, did I tell you the parade won't be on in Motown?

The Macy*s Parade takes place in New York City.

*mumbles uninteligable stuff about geography to himself*

Me too. I'll be taping it - just want to see the Fosters float.

scary_dream 11-22-2006 11:58 PM

Hey I managed to get a pretty good description from Macy's East of all the new stuff in the parade, and here's what it said about the Foster's float:

"FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS

An imaginary friend is always with you and so are the pals from Cartoon
Network's best-loved hit original series, Foster's Home for Imaginary
Friends. The irrepressible Blooregard Q. Kazoo sails down Broadway in a
30-foot-tall replica of Madame Foster's fun-filled mansion -- home to
imaginary friends who have been outgrown by their creators. Bloo will have
a lot of fun in his Broadway debut as he pops in and out of the mansions
windows and chimney, while Cheese, Wilt, Eduardo, Coco and Herriman take in
the sights. For their big Broadway performance, the cast will sing the
Beatles' classic '"With A Little Help From My Friends.'"

bloonuggets 11-23-2006 12:09 AM

Now you know what I meant by "With A Little Help From My (Imaginary) Friends."

In other words, don't shoot the messenger.

Oh, I might of miss heard it.:P (Or miss read it XD)

Anyways, I'm afraid that I might not go to the parade, because I got a soar throat, but not so bad, but my mom said that it might get worse today or tomorrow.:(

Well, at least the conditions nice, so no thuderstorms or black outs are gonna ruin GWH!:D Just because I'm sick dosn't mean I can't see GWH or hang out at the computer! It's because the illness is small!:) Whew!

bloonuggets 11-23-2006 06:54 AM

And we would like some criticism and comments on the float now that it has passed. Oh yeah, Cheese was on the float at the end to. "I have psorisis."

Cassini90125 11-23-2006 07:02 AM

Well, there's three hours of my life I won't be getting back. :P

Forget comments. I'd like some pictures, please. I didn't get to see it :P

swarlock 11-23-2006 07:15 AM

I just woke up so I missed it.:(

But I will not miss Tonight's special on CN. :bloogrin

scary_dream 11-23-2006 08:14 AM

I just missed it because I had it on the right channel, but then we switched TVs and the other TV was on a different parade and I didn't even realize. The only float I cared about in that whole stupid parade and I missed it.

Let's see if I can go two for one and miss GWH, too. :frankiemad:

I'm sorry for my grumpiness... I'm very angry because it wasn't really my fault that I missed it.

It'd be great if someone could get at least a picture of it on here. It'd be even better if someone could record and upload it...?

One Radical Dude 11-23-2006 09:13 AM

Join the club. I got up too late, and I missed it, as well. :( That was my fault.

Sumshine 904 11-23-2006 09:28 AM

Eh, I was hoping the float would be... Better... And everyone looked fake. -_-' imho I liked the Hi Hi Puffy Aimi Yumi float better. o.O

Ah well, at least I'm not the only one. I remember Sparky saying that she'd record it, so I hope she got it.

My mom said it was cute, though.

Nyo 11-23-2006 10:15 AM

Holy crap. I loved the Foster's float...

Sparky 11-23-2006 10:43 AM

I got it:

(I just now uploaded it, give it a few minutes)

CG 11-23-2006 11:04 AM

Aw. That was cute. I think they did a pretty good cover of the song!

One Radical Dude 11-23-2006 11:06 AM

Nice clip. Thanks for sharing, chief. 8D :)

donna323 11-23-2006 11:26 AM

Yep, we saw it on the parade this morning, and we thought it was totally cute. Wasn't that Cheese in the upper window at the end of the clip? Thanks, Sparky, for immortalizing it on YouTube for everyone.

Happy Turkey Day!
