Star Wars
Anyone else a SW geek/fan?
|
Let's just say that I'm one of those crazy people who view SW as a six-film story. And, YES, that includes the prequels. I can clearly understand the many criticisms that people repeatedly throw at them... but I personally can't hate them, if only because I think the visual storytelling is far more successful than most of the acting and dialogue.
And I'm a huge fan of some Star Wars games and books. I enjoy a lot of Star Wars games, from the Rogue Squadron series to Knights of the Old Republic. And I've read some very good novels like Shatterpoint, Yoda: Dark Rendezvouz and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Episode III novelization. |
I'm a pretty big EU fan myself. I also collect the Hasbro figures & the SS 12" figures. I may post pics of my collection when I get some Foster's stuff in the mix. I don't hate the movies either. You're sorta like Lucas by the whole 1-film thing. I personally don't though.
You ever notice Mac had some SW parody stuff in his room? He sold his carded figures in the movie one, then you can see a SW poster & a Tie Fighter in his room in various episodes. Mac's just like us! ;) |
I love Star Wars. I am such a fan I got the rebel alliance symbol for my first tattoo. HAN SHOT FIRST!
|
I like R2D2. :)
|
Of course Han shot first!
There's a rumored Saga box set out next year. It might have some more deleted scenes. Hopefully it'll be director cuts of all 6 films & the original versions of all 6, w/ the OOT digitally enhanced unlike the cruddy ones we've got now from the '80's/'90's. The 30th anniversary of ANH will make next year rock! Maybe even there is a SW parody epsidoe of Foster's the year would rock more!8-) |
I Fid it interesting but I don't count myself as a 'fan'... I fink Known Space much more interesting.

I know but the OOT DVDs wehave out now are the old huge disc versions (forgot whatever the hell those are called).:(
|
You mean laser disc? That is old.
|
Yeah, hopefully next year the quality wsill be superb. I may get "Empire" because my SE DVD dosen't work.
|
I love Star Wars! I make sure to watch all six movie's at least once every year. I'm not big on the expanded univers, but I do enjoy the games.
I have a large collection, but it's grouth has slowed to a dead-mans-crawl since I have other intrests and limited income. Lord of the Rings has come and gone, and the next big thing on my radar, fandom wise, is the 2007 Transformers movie. I'm a big transfan (Dinobots forever!) and it was my favorite show growing up. Everything was great in the eightie's.8D My other interest's are history (I collect anciant arms and armour) and Fosters, ofcourse. But my passion will ALWAY"S be videogames. I also buy the Naruto manga. I will alway's love Star Wars. I will alway's enjoy the six movie's and I will alway's dream of being a jedi.:D PS: Plo Koon is my favorite character next to Darth Vader. |
I'm a huge Star Wars fan. Favorite movies of all-time. I enjoyed the EU books and such until the "New Jedi Order" series. They're quite boring now.
Ackbar is, without a doubt, the greatest movie character of all time. |
Ackbar is one of my favorites too. But my dads all time fave SW character is JarJar Binks. I'm looking at the huge poster of him that my dad hangs over the computer right now. JarJar has becom a family favorite, though.8D
|
My favorite character was Stormtrooper number two. Best acting EVAR!! :D
|
I really like General Grievous. Many fans complain about him being a "throwaway" character... but he does have some merit in his appearance, as he foreshadowed the coming of Darth Vader along with the other two prequel villains: Darth Maul is the fierce warrior, Count Dooku is the fallen Jedi, and Grievous is the cyborg.
And he has one of the most awesome villain designs ever. He's cool to me. However, I still think Emperor Palpatine is the best, and that Ian McDiarmid did an absolutely fantastic job with him. |
Grievous was FANTASTIC! His appearance in the Clone Wars cartoon really showed him how he was ment to be. The mercyless jedi killing machine! And it also revealed why he had that nasty cough.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe Grey Delisle acually did the voice of Shaak Ti-One of my favorite jedi. And I think the guy who voices Mr. Harriman did Yoda. And I think Phill Lamarr was in there too. But John Demaggio (Bender) stole the show as Grievous!:D |
Grevious is great, especially when he is cackling and saying stereotypical villianous shpiel.
Anyone else think that Coleman Trebor should have survived Episode II? |
I love Grievous! But 3PO is my favorite character! Oh yeah Stormie # 2 had the best acting ever! ;)
|
Eh, sorry for double posting but I have a little tidbit for us fans, 2 shows are in production one is a computer animated Clone Wars show & another is a live-action show that takes between ROTS & ANH. Rumors say Fett will have a large role in the live-action show. :D
The cartoon will premeir in next year, the live-action is due in '08. |

Hopefully Celebration IV next year will have some more official information on these series.
|
Hopefully Indy IV too. Maybe some truth on the ultimate DVD set too.
|
Anyone else collect SW figures? If so from what company? I collect Hasbro & want to collect SS's 12" but haven't yet.
|
I have a bunch stashed somewhere in a red bag in my house, I don't have them in the same regard as I do DBZ figures but I have collected them. The WEIRDEST Star war toy I got is the Jabba the hutt toy they released when phantom menace came out.
With the exception of a few vehicles, the only real star wars figures I've collected have been of my favorite character in the entire Star Wars universe: Boba Fett ;D. |
I have some toys, but I'm not a collector. I have the Yoda and Darth Sidious figures from last year's Burger King Episode III promotion, and they kinda serve as my own personal "angel and devil on shoulders".

I started collecting last year, I try to "army build" which means to buy a ton of trooper figures. I have a ton of clones, 1 storm, 1 scout & 1 snow. I also buy basically any SW figures that intrest me. I habe 1 Boba figure, I got him Sat. I have sides of Light & Dark, the Dark on the left of my shelf with the sith & Grievous in line of apearance (Maul, Dooku, Grievous, Palpatine & Vader). The Light on the right with a bunch of Rebels there. The middle is my troop section w/ my BHs looking over them (Boba & Greedo), lead by Anakin & Jerjerrod. My only vehicle is Grievous' wheelbike, but I aksed for some vehicles for X-mas. My favorite character is C-3PO, the comedy that's funny of SW. Then R2, Boba Fett, Grievous & Cody as the top 5. Yeah, I'm probally the biggest SW geek here.:cheese: |
No it's this long tailed, glassy eyed Jabba the hutt they released when they started adding those "lost scenes" in the remastered versions of the original Star Wars triology. My Jabba is from that scene with Han in the hangar bay in episode 4.
I personally would have rather had a Jabba toy from the old original bad ass looking hutt, but oh well. My across the street neighbor has REALLY old and RARE Star Wars toys, some of the first ones like the Rancor and AT-AT walker. The main vehicles I have are Slave 1, Tie Fighter, A-wing fighter, and the At-St walker. I also have a fancy Darth Maul statue and a lego version of Darth Maul's "sith spaceship" he used in Phantom Menace. |
I found a Rebel Fleet Trooper figure at a swap meet last week. I had to buy it. I never could find one when I was a kid, but I always wanted one. Best helmets ever made...
|
I bought a couple figures last week:
ESB Tin Set including Chewbacca (Hoth Snow), Han Solo (Hoth),Luke (Hoth) & Snow Trooper Clone Commander Cody (The HTF figure of the year) Utapua Clone Trooper (or as someknow it the 212th Trooper) General Grievous R5-D4 Oh yeah Marshmallow you mean the one taht were released when the OT was originally released? My uncle has some of those most of which have been played to death.:cheese: In a year or so I may post pics of my collection, when I feel it's big enough for pics. Yeah, the Jabba was released in '97 or '96. You can tell because the Han is all muscular. :P |
Star Wars is great! I have a green lightsaber which I use to protect myself in bed if a Sith comes through the window. I reckon there should be a episode of Fosters when they mirror events in the films.

Now if someone could fry Corran Horn we'd be in business... |
Since were on the subject of the kentucky fried pilots of the 4th Star Wars movie, does anyone else notice the FREAKY weird ass performance the gold leader gave before he crashed into the Death Star?
It was like the last guy to die before Luke saved the day, and he was the one who shot off the "failed" proton torpedo launch into the Death star first time around. He got really red in the face and screamed at the top of his lungs: "YEEEEAAAAAHHHH" That scene REALLY confused the hell out of me when I was younger, still does today. I honestly don't know why the pilot reacted like that. |
That was Garvin Dries, Red Leader. He acted kinda loopy during the whole battle, I thought. Maybe it was his slightly southern accent and abnormal facial expressions. The red-faced screaming was a result of knowing he was about to crash and die, I guess.
He had some great lines, Wedge: "Look at the size of that thing!" Garvin: "Cut the chatter Red 2..." I believe Biggs Darklighter was the last Rebel pilot shot down before Luke saved the day, though. |
Sorry, I am one of "those other geeks" (Star Trek TOS at that!)
