Compulsions & obsessions

kaytea and i was thinkin', i really dont have phobias, they're more like Compulsions i think. so kaytea and i decided to make this thread. i think im way to obsessed with mac. 2,000+pics. i think thats obsessive. as far as Compulsions go, my friends always get mad when i leave to go home just to change my socks 3 times a day.[even more then when i leave to watch fosters]. and another really odd thing is my room is always messy, but if i go to a friends house, i will allways start cleaning. they dont mind that so much. lol

GrimTheLost 09-25-2006 01:47 PM

I have on compulsion that I can think of: I have to take baths atleast 6 or so time a day. If I am at a friends house I tend to feel ill and dirty because I can't do my "ritual".

Kzinistzerg 09-25-2006 03:32 PM

Have to do what now?

I don't think I have any. The only thing is that I insist on walkign abrefoot. shoes bother me.

kaytea 09-25-2006 06:14 PM

sort of like vinny I do not like cleaning my room but when ever I go to a friends house and see it messy I'll starting cleaning up

I cannot go a day without taking 3 showers

I sometime will spend an few minutes making myself a meal and throwing it away without even taking a bite

I have more but meh

BlooCheese 09-25-2006 06:30 PM

Um...Um...My room will become as messy as a room can get during the school week, but the moment it's Friday afternoon and I get back from school, I clean it up.
I always clean the bird's cage on Saturday at 4 P.M.
I always practice my flute the day before my lesson, and no other day.
I check my e-mail about seven times a day.
I don't want to do what other people do.
If I go to someone else's house, I wear two pairs of socks. (The floor is dirty.) If there's a baby in that person's house, I wear three pairs of socks.
That's all I can think of for now.

that is so me. i go barefoot when ever possible. even at school for a few days. and yes, they did stop me. i said "sorry, i can afford shoes". most really didnt care. i think a school with the floor is all sand and you never wear shoes would be the coolest school ever.

Kzinistzerg 09-25-2006 07:08 PM

That would be great!

also, the otehr reason I go barefoot is that if my feet are in shoes, they tend to overheat... and they're kinda sweaty feet. WHich is FINE if i'm barefoot, becuas eit gives be really greta traction for running or climbing things, so i don't slide.

BlooCheese 09-25-2006 07:17 PM

Ew. Barefeet. Dirty floor. THE GERMS! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! AND THE ATHLETE'S FOOT!

I thought of two more.
If you ask me for help on homework by saying something like, "What's the answer to number fifteen?" without even giving me the question, I will totally flip out, give you the scowliest scowl that was ever scowled, and yell at the top of my lungs. And trust me, you never want to hear that. (Yes, people actually just walk up to me and say, "What's the answer?" HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW? YOU DON'T EVEN TELL ME WHAT THE QUESTION IS!)

And I like to chew on raw noodles when playing piano.

Kzinistzerg 09-25-2006 07:29 PM

Raw noodles are great.

I egt asked asnwers too.

Does anyone else have the comulsion to sleep, because their dreams are WAY more interesting than real life?

And I forgot: i HATE spelling errors and grammar errors. Before you sday that's hypocritical, i type too fast and don't ahev any tiem to correct my own posts. But normally...

Me too. And that sentence was hell for me :D .

kageri 09-25-2006 07:57 PM

I don't have many, but I do compulsively... jump/prance/skip around for no real reason. For serious. Like, if I'm going into another room, I will jump/prance/skip into it instead of walking normally. Yeah, I dunno.

Oh, and if I see a typo in one of my posts I have to edit it. Just one spelling error and I have to go back and fix it even though most likely no one will care.

vinny 09-25-2006 08:06 PM

as far as spelling, i could care less

I do that, too. It shows a regard for later viewers, I think.

I also always fix typo's, and about posts, that was your 1234th.

...What? That's a nice number :D

My obsession with Frankie is unlike any other I've ever had for ANY other fictional character. She's... well, put simply, she's everything I want in a girl. If I ever meet somebody in real-life who compares to her in terms of genuine wonderfulness, I'll do my absolute hardness to mold myself into a person worthy of somebody like her. She is love. :-*

My compulsion is this: if I ever get a thought related to how Frankie was treated in "Imposter's", I immediately try to drown it with all sorts of positive Frankie moments and thoughts.

You and me both. There are days - most days, really - that she's all I think about. She's just so amazing. :-*

Hey, you stole my post! That happens with me too. ShiguresChick is always telling me that I'm the slowest typer there ever was, when actually I'm correcting errors in the middle of typing, so I'm continuously having to go back and backspace something! I also have this thing where I'll make this high-pitched, wailing noise that only lasts, like, two seconds and for no reason. I also had this thing for a while where I would catch myself in the middle of some bad habit(like nail-biting for instance), and I'd stop to wonder "I wonder when this first became a habit? How did it happen, and why am I still doing it?". It went on for quite some time.8D

Voxxyn 09-27-2006 06:57 PM

Just how obsessed am I with Frankie? Okay then: the concept of the "Foster's Five"(Mac, Bloo, Wilt, Eduardo and Coco) upsets me a little. I know it makes perfect sense from a logical viewpoint, as they're the "children" while Frankie along with Herriman and Madame Foster are the "parents/guardians"... but the very idea of it just seems to gives the vibe that Frankie is meaningless next to them, which I don't appreciate AT ALL.

Unfortunately, when the merchandising blitz kicks in in the following year, I have a feeling we'll be seeing lots and lots of "Foster's Five" stuff--and little or even NOTHING based on my personal favorite character. If that becomes the case, I'll be extremely disappointed and crushed.

If that turns out to be the case I'll still look for an Eduardo plush, but otherwise I'll save my money for something else. I hope that isn't the case; Frankie is just as important to the show as any of the other cast members and I would hope that CN and Mattel recognize that fact.

Another resurrected thread.

I hate clutter. If I'm in a place with too much clutter, whether it be someone else's house or what, I actually start to feel claustrophobic, and even leave the room/house to get a breath of fresh air. My parents, though they'd hate my saying this, are very "messy", and many times you can't walk through the living room without stepping on something, usually old mail, CDs/DVDs, clothing, dog toys. If I'm up to it, when ever I'm over there I pick up just enough to where I'm comfortable. I'll shove the rest behind furniture so at least I don't have to look at it. Heheh :slybendy:

It's also been brought to my attention recently that I like my straws perfectly round. While many chew on their straws, I'm constantly playing with the tip of the straw until it's perfectly round, otherwise, I can't drink out of it. :P

WiltsAKGirl17 09-17-2008 11:34 PM

That I can readily think of:

1.) I have this bizarre thing about getting both of my hands wet. Let;s say I'm doing dishes and I stick my right hand in the water to fish something out (fork, plate, baby 'gator, etc.); if I don't stick my left hand in the water, too, as a token gesture, I feel way off kilter until I do.

2.) Another example-illustration: I have a bag of M&Ms, SweeTarts, Skittles-- any multi-colored candies. When I have a handful of them, I separate them into little groups-- one of each color until the groups get progressively smaller. If I ever have time, I'll edit in an actual color illustration.

3.) If I have pepperoni pizza, I have to pick all the pieces of pepperoni off first before I eat the pizza itself. This I imagine stems from me being little and hating pepperoni and picking it all off to "make" cheese pizza.

I'm weird. Embrace the weirdness. :weirded:

Guitars, lotso guitars! I collect only the best though! But guitars are my obsession (Frankie is a VERY close second):D:frankiesmile:

Duckman and his "babies."

cigarettes and leather jackets.

Sparky 09-18-2008 01:52 PM

Halloweeny knick-knacks (especially spider-related but not necessarily). Bought yet *another* skull tealight holder today. If we only had like, a bar they'd look cool lined up all lit up...but we don't. I never have enough room to display all my Halloweeny stuff come October, and a lot of it just has to stay in storage. :(

Lynnie 09-18-2008 06:02 PM

Lol, wonderful picture, Duck!

And as we're on the topic of obsessive collections, I don't have it so much any more, but I use to collect feathers. Every feather I came across I'd take home, no matter how dirty or worn out or ugly it was. Even now days I at least *think* about picking a feather up and taking it home when I see one on the ground. But I've become more disciplined, and only take the really nice ones home now. :-[

HerrimanWasHere 01-12-2009 06:00 PM

Hmm...

Well, to start, I can not touch anything with an oil base to it. (Like grease, veggitable oil, vaselin, lotions, etc) If i do, then I just feel so "dirty".

If I'm in my house, I can't wear shoes. If I have them on, I feel very uncomfortable.

I collect children's books. Why? They inspire me to make my own.

I'm very obsessed with cartoons, so much that I tend to get strong urges to watch animation while in school. (That's why I doodle in class or just imagine things happening to my favorite characters...I know, lame isn't it?)

If something itches, I scratch it until it becomes a scar...I don't do it on purpose, I just can't help it. (And I have very sensitive skin too...)

I have to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas at least once a week. Or else I haven't completed my week.

I wear at least three layers of clothes a day, because my blood tempurature is lower than the average human's. (Not really on subject, but I'm ranting)

I have to draw at least once a day. My squeedly spooch tells me to...

Cassini90125 11-17-2009 12:20 AM

Bump time.

I've been playing the Sims 3 at least seven hours a day, every day, since about a month after it was released (which was, coincidentally, when the first hacks and fixes came out). I don't know if it qualifies as a compulsion or obsession, but I do know that I'm having a seriously good time with it.

frankie_fan 11-17-2009 02:42 AM

Does having Asperger Syndrome come with any odd compulsions and/or obsessions? Or am I completely going off course here?

Another Castle 12-01-2009 09:13 AM

I consider myself to be a very obsessive person. I can remember very obscure things from many years ago, and I still think of them to this day. Especially things that have irritated me.

Regarding Fosters, some times I feel a little obsessed with Mac, and I dislike the episodes where he is treated really badly (Cheese-a-go-go, for example). And I really hated the episode, The Bride To Beat (read the 5 least favorite episodes thread to see why). I really hated the ending, and I do my best to forget about it, but I end up thinking about it still. When I do, I try and focus on the later good episodes.

I'll add more things soon, I'll edit this post

BluebottleFlyer 12-04-2009 05:24 PM

Whenever I listen to music on my Windows Media Player, I always go through the music library and check to see how many times I've played all the songs. Also, every time I get a new song, the album info has to be correct, as in correct release date and the album title word perfect. No idea how I picked this habit up...

Sparky 12-04-2009 06:30 PM

I like all my iTunes tracks to have the correct info too. If I pick something up online I have to research out all the details and find the artwork - if there IS no artwork I make something.

Recently a guy gave me a 2-disc set of holiday music he compiled, interspersed with spoken clips from cartoons and movies. He did not identify ANY of the tracks, although he included a list of artists in the liner notes. Besides that, and I don't know how or why, the tracks weren't even divided up at the gaps between the songs, they were just sort of hacked up into random pieces. I love the cds though. So I used Audacity to merge the tracks together and then chop them up logically, then I had to try to figure out the names of all the songs by Googling the lyrics and referencing the list of artists. Figuring out the spoken tracks was harder though, as no credit was given for those. I now know more about Woody Allen movies than I ever thought I would. 8D Anyways with a couple exceptions I got it all sorted out.

So um BBF, you're not alone. :teef:

It does in my case.

For one thing, I always have to plan a routine for a day. This means I have to know if we're going out (if so, where we're going), what we're having for lunch... a whole bunch of things.

I've also been obsessed with certain characters to the point where I tend to draw them a lot (yes, Herrimanwashere, you're not alone there).
