Season 3 Australian DVD Release

I apologise if I make any of you jealous, but Madman Entertainment have release info for the Australian release of Foster's: Season 3 on DVD!

Cassini90125 03-07-2010 10:52 PM

Well, at least we know it's finally being released somewhere. Thanks for the info!

Mulch 03-09-2010 01:53 PM

The fact that it's actually being released somewhere means that there's still a glimmer of hope for a R1 release.

Artwork looks kinda slapped together, but the continuity is nice. Also, Ed is on the spine. (Possibly riding a bike?)

EDIT: Never mind, looks like Madman have been making their own CN releases for years. :bloosad:

At first I thought it was an April Fool's day joke but then I remembered it's not April.

Needless to say, I was all "HUH?". No way, they're selling a season 3 set in Australia first? No offense or anything, but...

Hopefully America will get a release too. I need them episodes so badly...D8

None taken. I'm sure you Americans felt the same way when it was announced that Season 1 of The Powerpuff Girls would be released in Australia first, before America got their hands on it.

Mr_Bloo_Veins 03-10-2010 04:16 PM

I've been downloading Foster's eps on iTunes like crazy lately, so I could wait.

One Radical Dude 03-12-2010 01:14 AM

That's really great that someone's getting a Season 3 release. This only makes me want the rest of the series get released in the states more, including Season 3. *grumble*

Madman have been releasing Cartoon Network and [adult swim] DVDs since 2006. They started off with Seasons 1 of PPG and Foster's, Vol 1 of My Gym Partner's a Monkey and Seasons 1 of Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

Do we know if this is the official cover art that Craig said he worked on a year and a half ago? It just looks awful generic. But none the less, this is very exciting. Hopefully this will mean it'll be released in the States not long after! :yeah:

I thought we determined this wasn't an official release and that this company makes their own DVDs? Or did I misunderstand?

Lynnie 03-14-2010 12:31 PM

Hmm, it looks legit to me. They also have the other two seasons on DVD and they're the same ones we have, and the KND one (which I also have). There's also CN trademarks on the bottom of each page. What throws me off is the release dates compared to the States' release dates. S1 was released only a month after we got S1. S2 was released over a year after we got S2. And now they get S3 before we do? They may have a deal with CN, and CN gave them the green light to sell the DVDs down there, but haven't cleared it for the States yet. And maybe for copyright issues, the cover art wasn't cleared for them so they created a generic one for now.

Mulch 03-14-2010 01:49 PM

Sorry, I probably caused all that confusion by being unclear. This is the deal, from what I gather:

They're legit, but Madman apparently have CN's permission to create their own releases for sale exclusively in Australia. For example, they have complete seasons of Dexter's Lab and Courage (and those were released a few years ago, so they're definitely Australia-exclusive).

They also make their own cover art, most evident from this:
http://cdn.madman.com.au/images/slic.../mma4237wp.jpg

(Note Grim's shadow from the first season's cover art looming over stock art of the four main characters, including himself.)

Well, anyway, congrats to Australian fans, and hopefully a US release will finally happen someday.

Seriously, they had cover art ready, advertised it on another DVD and then just scrapped it entirely?!? ::)

In many cases, the North American/US cover art is different from other parts of the world. In this case, this does not match what Craig told me at Comic-Con. He told me that the cover art would have featured Eduardo.

I've been looking at this topic about Season 3 DVD for a bit now, but, to be honest, I cannot think CN will bother realising it. All the seasons are on iTunes in the US anyway.

Also today, I was poking around Craig (McKraken's) deviantART page today for the first time in a long time and he says:
"The DVD releases are not up to me but Cartoon Network. But as far as Foster's Season 3 goes I don't think it will ever come out. Years ago we designed all the packaging for it but then it got pulled off their release schedule for some reason. They never told me.
I doubt there will be any more Foster's releases as the show is off CN's radar now. The best luck you might have getting the rest of the seasons is iTunes.
Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful, I wanted it to come out too.
"

:(

frankie_fan 03-27-2010 04:00 PM

Well... like I said, I apologise if I make any of you jealous. :(

frankie_fan 04-18-2010 07:48 PM

The DVD cover has been updated: http://www.madman.com.au/actions/cat...07&method=view

Lynnie 04-18-2010 08:06 PM

Ah, that looks more like it! :D Still wish it was available here in the States, but if it sells well down there, maybe we still have a chance to see it in the future.

Cassini90125 04-18-2010 08:10 PM

If we do get it I'll bet the extras will be ads for CN's reality crapfest. :P In any case it's nice to see that Eduardo gets his cover after all. :smed:

One Radical Dude 04-18-2010 11:08 PM

That really is a nice video cover there. It gets the ORD Seal of Approval. :smed:

Foster's Geek 287 05-04-2010 06:27 PM

If only it were in the US... And look, it contains some shorts! I think they just need to release seasons 3-6 already!!!

Planty 05-25-2010 05:30 PM

IDK why they put that little yellow nuisance on everything.... I'm pretty sure Cheese didn't even have an ep in S3 :cheese:

EDIT: I did not put him there

Lucky 07-31-2011 11:51 AM

Well, I know about the releases of older shows on DVD like Johnny Bravo and Dexter's Laboratory, but I think CN is going to focus on releasing their `90s stuff and current stuff. Maybe in 2014 (when the show turns 10, which is my graduation year), they'll release the complete series like they did with The Powerpuff Girls :blossom:

`tis a shame, since I have been waiting for this for years, and I think CN just doesn't care for our friends anymore. :'(

KazooBloo 12-14-2016 11:55 PM

So S3 released on DVD in Australia first? Did they get the episodes first too?
