Family member in car accident earlier.
 

Earlier today, I learned that my younger brother was in a car accident. He apparently could not sleep last night, and he felt drowsy behind the wheel. He struck a utility pole in half with wires being everywhere. He survived, but he did get banged up somewhat (I should see him later this week). Since he was at fault, the insurance rate will go up. Last year, my mother was in a wreck (totaled the used minivan that was recently [at the time] purchased], but did not hit a pole. Seems like we don't get a lot of good news within the family. :(

At least he's OK, like my father, who barely got out of a burning house yesterday. That's what really counts, as bad as it is that he tore up his car and will have to pay higher insurance rates for awhile.

Really sorry to hear about that, once again the only the saving grace is that no serious harm was done and that is always the best possible outcome given the circumstances.

Oh, no! This is horrible, but at least he's okay. My dad's car accident 12 years ago left hijm almost crippled. I'll definitely be praying for your family. Ouch.

Oh crumbs. Hope he's ok. It's a very weird and frightening experience being in a car accident and days later a flashback can make you shake even if you've been lucky and walked away physically undamaged.

Goodness, I am soo, soooo sorry to hear this Ord. :'( Is he at home recovering now? I'm very glad to hear he survived. Now I hope with all my heart things will be ok. You guys are still in my prayers.

Thank you, gang. He and a friend are in town for the weekend. I was told that he wasn't seriously injured (as far as I know, anyway), though definitely sore. I got home late, so I didn't get to speak to him.

Sounds like he's not in the hospital then, am I right? That's good. Was he able to walk away from it or was he taken to the in just to be checked out? I hope he feels better soon. That certainly cannot be fun, having gone through that. :bloosad:

I have no idea. All I know is the little bit of info my mother gave me.

Ah, I see. Well, I wish him a speedy recovery. And hope this is the last bad news for your family for a while.

Looks like a few of us NFers families are having bad times, really hoping this isn't a trend :'(

I already posted my thoughts on Facebook, but I'll say it here too...I wish your brother the speediest of recoveries, man. I'm glad he made it out of there alive.

Yikes, I'm so sorry, ORD. I was in a car once which got back-ended, and I can still recall how shaken up I was after that, so I can't imagine how horrible it must be to be involved in a full-blown accident. I'm glad that your brother is going to be okay, at least.

(I was in an accident in Dec 08 - me and dad are fine, just the grill of the car got smashed up)
