Heath Ledger's Posthumous Awards
I feel that as an Australian, I need to announce this:
At the Australian equivalent of the Oscars (Australian Film Institute (AFI for short) Awards), Australian actor Michael Caton paid tribute to Heath Ledger as his family accepted the award for his role in The Dark Knight as the Joker. Heath Ledger Tribute |

Congrats to him and his family. |
This is welcome news, and not just because of his tragic death. He was a great actor, and even though I haven't seen it, I've heard nothing but great things about The Dark Knight, so he's well deserving of this.

In my mind, Heath Ledger could do no wrong, and it's wonderful to know that he's still on everyone's mind for his wonderful work, even after his death. :rose:

Great news, it was certainly well-deserved. Heath clearly gave his all to that performance, and it really showcased the true extent of his talent, so it's a shame that it ended up having such tragic consequences for him.

^ Agreed. I saw the Dark Knight about a month ago at the dollar theater and wow...just wow.
Everything I've heard about the movie itself and Heath Ledger's amazing performance as the Joker has been true. He did an incredible job and he definitely deserves this and his death really is a regrettable tragedy. |
It sucks that Heath died in real life.
At the end of the movie he says something to Batman like "We'll be doing this forever". How ironic, in a sad way. |
Okay, I was on IMDB to look up Breakdown (I'm reading through the whole Last Movie You Watched thread!) and I stumbled upon this great news! Heath just won his second posthumous award: a Golden Globe for The Dark Knight!
I feel like changing the title of this thread now. EDIT - Just did it! |
I'm watching the Golden Globes right now, and just saw this! That was soooo awesome! Congrats to him, though may he rest in peace. Congrats to his colleagues and family then.
|
Yes! I found out about this when I got home from work. I was so happy. I got to watch it on youtube. Congratulations to his family and everyone who worked with him.
"...I think you and I are destined to do this forever." - The Joker |
I just browsed through YouTube and found that Heath has also won a SAG (Screen Actors Guild), BAFTA and Critics Choice award for his role in The Dark Knight. Since seeing this, and as Oscar night comes closer, does anyone have any feelings about Heath Ledger if he does win the Oscar (and I really hope he does!)?
|
Well, it's official: Heath Ledger has won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight, making him the second person in Oscar history to win a posthumous Oscar since Peter Finch won Best Actor for Network in 1977, and (as I just found out), the second Australian to win it!
