Announced this morning, the nominees for Outstanding Animated Program, less than an hour, are as follows:
Avatar: The Last Airbender, "City Of Walls And Secrets," Nickelodeon Robot Chicken, "Lust For Puppets," Cartoon Network South Park, "Make Love, Not Warcraft," Comedy Central SpongeBob SquarePants, "Bummer Vacation" / "Wig Struck," Nickelodeon The Simpsons, "The Haw-Hawed Couple," Gracie Films/Fox For Outstanding Animated Program, more than one hour: Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends: Good Wilt Hunting (Cartoon Network) Hellboy: Sword Of Storms (Starz Media/Revolution Studios) Secrets Of The Deep (Impossible Pictures/Discovery Channel) Camp Lazlo: Where's Lazlo? (Cartoon Network) These are the Creative Arts Emmys and will be awarded in an untelevised ceremony on September 8th. |
I don't know why, but the competition here looks pretty bland. I'm sure GWH will walk home with the award.:)

I would love to see Good Wilt Hunting win. As for the half hour category... it belongs to South Park, that was an INCREDIBLE episode!

Not hard to believe that 3/5 of the first category are adult things. The Simpsons? AGAIN?? It DOESN'T need any more awards, people!
Yay Good Wilt Hunting is nominated!! :D |
Gooooo~! Avatar and Fosters :D

A good friend of mine from college worked on Make Love, Not Warcraft (which I didn't see as I don't watch SP anymore). I'm hoping to find him at the Con - I only decided to look him up recently and was surprised to see that he's on the Warcraft team.
Um, kinda off-topic but oh well. ;) I found him because of this episode; I Googled his name and found a page with photos of the team working on the ep, and I was like OMG there he is!! If he's at the Con and doesn't remember me I'm gonna cry, lol. |
I would actually give Hellboy a shot. Giving life to a Mignola piece is hard work, and they did it admirably. However if there's any Mignola piece that deserves a nomination it's The Amazing Screw-On Head, which was somehow booted by two series well past their prime and a show so uneven it's maddening.
I really think they nominated the wrong South Park ep, but seeing as some of the best eps from last season were two parters I can kinda understand why they chose that one. Though I really felt it to be weak compared to better efforts of that and previous seasons. So for less than an hour my vote goes to Avatar, because so far that show hasn't let me down. But I'm still torn between Hellboy and Foster's. It's sort of a bias, though. Going on pure criticism alone I would have to give it to Foster's. More heart, and it didn't have to struggle with bridging the gap between a decent comic series, a growing franchise, and trying to bring both into an animated DTV series. Hellboy was a good effort but far from reaching its potential. While GWH is peak entertainment through and through. |
For an hour or more, I'm saying Foster's (even though I haven't seen Good Wilt Hunting, though)!
For less than an hour, I'm stuck between Avatar (since I only first heard about it and I'm really interested in seeing it) and Robot Chicken. I'm a fan of that show (as is my brother) and it would be interesting to see if that show won! 8D |
I don't really watch South Park, but I've heard that's a GOOD episode, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna win in the half-hour category.
As for the hour-long catagory, I really think Foster's should win (even though Were's Lazlo was great). Unfortunately, grat episodes often go unnoticed by the voters, as long as it's a show aimed at a younger audience. :( |

Well, for one hour or less, my final decision is Robot Chicken. I've only just started watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I don't really need to start getting into it just yet.
The 'Lust for Puppets' episode is when Mario and Luigi go to Vice City (Grand Theft Auto). 8D |
Personally I think it's a crying shame that the main animation awards are not given out during the televised Emmy ceremonies.
