Funny things people say about Foster's

Today I was in the car with my mom and two of my sisters, talking about how sometimes cartoons bring in annoying characters to bring more humor into the show. So my mom says,"Just like Foster's Home! They brought in that little black girl, who just talks and talks!" So while me and my sisters were talking about Goo, my mom just continued going on and on about Goo, imitating her and making her mouth open really wide and fast.

My mom was really hyper today, man. :gooblab:.

(Oh, um. Just so you know, when my mom said 'black' she used it as a describing word. Not like racist or anything, cause that doesn't fly so great.)

Lynnie 07-10-2007 07:44 PM

That's funny! My younger sis and I have sort of started a "Marco-Polo" game type thing. One of us would yell "Bloo!", and the other one "Regard!" We haven't really done it in public yet, so I haven't really gotten any reactions to it, but it's fun. Our parents just find it amusing.

My mom LOVED "Say it isn't Sew", and kept saying that Madame F. was a lady after her own heart. I thought that was amusing, although not the least bit surprising, since she loves to sew (I do too, for that matter).
Spoiler Below
But whenever Bloo tried to get her to leave the store and there was just one interruption after another, obviously showing that Madame F. had no interest in leaving yet, my mom would laugh and say "Yup, that's me! That's all me!"
I couldn't help but laugh! :mfoster:

antgirl1 07-10-2007 09:22 PM

Yeah, my mom nicknames Goo "The Girl Who Talks 90MPH". XDD

Kale 07-11-2007 04:41 AM

Haha, everytime I have Foster's on, and Goo's speaking, my dad just looks in and goes "what a load of garbage" and then shuts the door xD
My parents are not big fans of Foster's it's safe to say.:sadbendy:

MY mom calls goo stephanie, cuz she says that she looks just like I did when I was that age. every time she sees her on tv, she goes "there's stephanie! with the little braids and everything! I love her!"

basilsunshine 07-11-2007 10:03 AM

My little sister calls deoderant DEO. And whenever she needs to use it or something, she says, "Got B.O.? Get Deo!"

NocturnLeader 07-11-2007 10:32 AM

I was watching it the otehr day and my dad walks in and he starts to watch it.

The one where :gooblab: Goo is first intro. and she sees Coco;)

And he just started Laughing at the Joke.

He said, " if this was on back in my day i'd be one happy kid."

then he left.

Bloo2daMacs 07-11-2007 06:19 PM

Well, here's something. Vinny used to refer to me as Bloo, and himself as Mac when loking at this picture:

XD

Haha, that's really cool. My stepdad(who's hispanic) really likes Eduardo. I guess he's a little biased, but it's still reall cool, :-/.My mom likes Wilt, she thinks he's really cute, :D.

Maybe not so funny is about and hour ago when my friend (I'll call her "Mallory") told me she finally saw Foster's for the first time not too long ago. "Oh, I finally saw that retarded cartoon you talk about," she said. Say what?!?! A few questions later I discovered that the episode was "Land Of The Flea" but she didn't watch the whole thing, just bits and pieces. I asked her to watch a few complete episodes when she has the time and then give me her opinion. Mallory is not a cartoon fan (her kids are, though), so assuming she does get around to watching a couple of Foster's episodes, her thoughts on our beloved show and it's cast could prove to be interesting. :bloocross:

"Retarded"? :o

basilsunshine 07-12-2007 04:11 PM

Maybe it should be changed to "Things people say about foster's" instead?
But yeah, that makes me mad when people don't give stuff a chance.

Cassini90125 07-14-2007 10:59 AM

I ran into Mallory earlier; she said she usually has to work when the show is on. No problem, I'm dropping off my Foster's disks at her workplace tonight. I should thank her for doing this; it's rare that I can find a non-fan who's willing to take a little time to watch the show and give me opinions about it. I really don't know what she'll have to say about it, but I am sure I'm going to get an earful in a week or so. 8D

Jeez, who can't? (But I too am biased. *points to username*)

Whenever I bring up Foster's at my house, my parents just roll their eyes (:jk:) and groan.

I hit a little closer to home with my friends. I was talking about the show with my friends and lunch and my friend Daniel knew what I was talking about. he laughed and went, "I like the blue one!"

It's funny because Daniel is really smart-- he reads books on philosophy and can talk the smart side of politics (non-partisan, how to run a country sort of thing) like it's nobody's business-- but he can be a little mischiveous at times. :slybendy:

BabyCharmander 11-11-2007 07:43 AM

My dad yells at me whenever he hears me talking about Foster's (or any other cartoon or video-game, for that matter) because it's "not real." >>

It was really weird. Oo; When I tried watching an ep of Foster's with my brother's daughters, the older daughter (who was about 4 or 5 at the time) started screaming about how the show was going to give her nightmares, so I had to turn it off. (The ep was Eddie Monster, in case you're wondering, but we never even got up to the part with the Extreme-O-Saur cage.)

Recently my older sister and her three kids (who are 6) came over, and I decided to play one of my Foster's DVDs so I could watch an ep or two with the kids. But as soon as the DVD got to the main menu, they all started saying, "Oh, we can't watch this. It's a bad show." ...Now, my older sister is a tad overprotective, and won't let her kids watch a lot of different things for a lot of different reasons, but I could not for the life of me think of why the HECK she wouldn't let her kids watch Foster's, so I ran upstairs and asked her about it.

"Yeah, they can't watch Foster's because I don't like it."

...And, as far as I know, she's never seen a single episode of the show. x___X

Nem 11-11-2007 04:48 PM

I have to post this, and I'm sorry if it offends anyone =/ It shouldn't, but it is insulting the show in a sense, but I'm not the one doing the insulting.

Anyways, I mod at a very popular forum, not sure why anymore, but I do it mainly because I have friends there, and I ended up being modded for some odd reason. Anyways, one of the rules is that you're not suppose to post in a topic that is 30 days or older, as that is considered topic revival.

The topic that got revived was a topic focused on Code Lyoko, I won't go into details about it, but it's a show I don't really like. So I kindly informed the person who revived it to please do not do so again, and closed the topic, while also mentioning in an obscure way that I dislike the show =P

Less then a day later, I get a PM in my inbox, and find it's from the person who got "yelled" at for reviving a topic, and was titled "If you think Code Lyoko sucks..."

And then proceeded to say this...

"Yes, the title pretty much explains it. Although i wasn't angry at the closing of thread, I was angry about the comment about Code lyoko being crappy. But if you think thats bad, try watching fosters home for imaginary friends, clearly a worse show with horrible plots and dumb characters such a Blu. Just think about that."

I started laughing, because he obviously thought he was going to strike me in a personal way or something, but he failed =P

Anyways, sorry if posting something like this is against the rules XD I just thought it was funny =P

This one forum I visit (Which I don't know why I do, given it's not a great forum anymore) I brought up a list of the 2007 emmy nominees and said I had my money on Foster's. This one guy who has a seriously unhealthy obsession with My Life as a Teenage Robot basically got in a hissy fit about how much he hated Foster's, and you wouldn't believe the things he said! He was basically ranting with horrible taste, saying that if he could, he'd kill Craig McCracken, and everybody that was involved with Foster's. When I informed him of the people that were involved with My Life as a Teenage Robot were working on Foster's, he said "Well, I won't kill them, but everyone else can die and go to hell." All this, coming from a 15 year old who wants to grow up and be a contract killer...

Subzeroace 11-11-2007 06:12 PM

My mom thinks Mac is a girl and my dad likes the plots from Fosters but can't stand the character design >> He really hates Coco though. ::)

Me: *all annoyed because her parents and sister are watching a Bob Dylan concert on TV* DX
Brother: Hey, he's singing a song about your favorite cartoon character.
Me: ...Wait, what?
Brother: "It's all over now baby Bloo!"
Me: ::)

I overheard a conversation between two of my eighth-grade female students when one noticed a doodle of Wilt on the other's notebook:

Girl One: "Ain't that who the Art teacher likes so much? Why do YOU like her?

Girl Two: "Like 'HER'? Who you callin' 'her'?"

Girl One: "I don't watch that show, so I just thought that was a girl, that's all."

Girl Two: "Well, if you ever heard HIM talk, you'd know that was a MAN!"

Most of my students, in fact, refer to Wilt as a man, usually "that red man" or "that man that plays basketball", while referring to the other characters as "that blue dude" or "that big purple dude" or "that little boy", etc.

Not in the slightest. Dylan is a smarmy lowlife, a liar, undoubtably a cheat, a worthless piece of trash who'll say anything to get what he wants. He's a coward with neither honor or pride, and so help me if I ever get my hands on him I'll... wait, did you mean Bob Dylan? Oh, yeah, he's cool. Please disregard the previous rant. :-[

Maybe I shoud stop watching Frankie My Dear twice a day...

If they replaced Dylan Lee, with Bob Dylan then that would have made the episode, like 100,000,000 times funnier then it already was.

Dylan: Mumble mumble yazza yazza whoa yeah, Frankie.

Frankie: Isn't he the cutest?

:P

I also showed her the episodes with Berry in them, and now, she thinks that Berry is a psycho.

Not sure what she said exactly though.....

Cheese is Clinically retarded though.

probably thought up by some short bus rider.

I hosted dinner for my parents and sister today, and while eating, my sister was ranting how she can't think of anything creative for a school project. She said "My imagination has gone away, I wonder where it could have gone to?" And my mother, of all people, said "It must have gone to live at Foster's". I cracked up, as that was NOT expected. 8D I'm glad to say I have turned my mother on to the show, especially after this last week when she FINALLY saw "A Lost Claus", she loved it. There's no way she or even my sister will be into the show as much as I am, but I'm glad I turned them onto it.

WiltsAKGirl17 01-24-2008 10:15 PM

Over Thanksgiving, I finally got to see GWH, but I had to watch it with my parents because there's no cable in my room. At some point, we had gotten to a group scene <Mac, Bloo, Frankie, Ed, Coco, Douglas and Adam and Nina group> and my dad asks me, "Is the red-headed girl [Frankie, obviously enough] a Foster?"

ME: Yeah, she's the graddaughter of the lady who founded the house.
MY DAD: Oh. She's kinda cute.
ME: :-/ :wiltshock: :terrconf: :o :blooupset: Okay, Dad, whatever...

Honestly, I think he's gotten about Frankie even existing.

He also asked if the little yellow one who sang in the Macy's parade was going to be in this one. I told him, "Don't think so, Dad." The macy's parade was actually my parents' first real exposure to the show. My dad thought the float with Cheese was cute. <helpless shrug>

Ub3rD4n 01-25-2008 01:22 AM

Oh, my, Cheese is a difficult mascot to have for this show. He doesn't exactly sum it up well. The reason he IS the mascot is because he's so popular with the kiddies (and I know, sometimes it's easy to forget that they are the target audience).

HOoo, man, just think of how badly Cheese would have ruined GWH! Talk about an inappropriate time for him to show up!

pitbulllady

Ub3rD4n 01-27-2008 01:16 AM

Considering that GWH and Cheese represent polar opposites of this show's good sides, I think that descision was wise.

Cassini90125 01-27-2008 07:39 AM

Hmm, Cheese on GWH... well, I suppose it would have been more tolerable than having Goo in the episode, but I'm glad they kept him out. I can't really see a useful role for him anywhere here.

I know. after I told my dad that I doubted Cheese would be in GWH, I got to thinking about it during commercial and it was scary. GWH was very tender and dealt with some pretty serious subjects; putting Cheese in would have nearly destroyed the episode-- I know I wouldn't have liked it as much.

Really, Cheese or Goo didn't fit into the ep that well. I think of Cheese and Goo as "semi-regulars"-- they make relatively frequent appearances, but aren't part of the "main cast."

I have another contribution to the "things people say about Foster's" part of the thread. On Friday, I made a picture of Wilt from "The Bloo SuperDude and the Potato of Power" doing the little "Because I said so..." hand motion thingy and added the words so I could hang it in my locker. I had it sitting on top of my bookbag because I was showing it to my friend Lauren when another one of my friends, Sarah, came over. She saw it and asked what it was. I gave her a brief explanation, and then she asked, "Isn't he all raggedy and falling apart?" My reaction: <sigh> He was in an accident.

That picture also got a reaction later that afternoon. When school let out, I'd hung it up before I started getting my stuff together to go home. One of the boys in my senior clas, Steven, came over and said, "So you like Foster's, huh?" (I have two pictures of Wilt hanging up in my locker: one of Wilt shrugging with the words "high school drama" in the background, and the "Because I said so..." one.) I said, "Yeah," and explained that I'd drawn the high school drama one and Photoshop-ed the Because I said so one. The rest of our Foster's-based conversation went like this:

STEVEN: Points to "Because I said so..." Who's this?
ME: It's same character as this one <points to shrugging Wilt> but in a hood.

<Man, I'm hyper-- I've eaten a lot of sugar and drank a ton of Dr. Pepper at work tonight, so that may be why...>

Ub3rD4n 01-28-2008 10:55 PM

When people ask me what's up with Wilt's asymmetrical nature, I explain that he was in a "tragic, basketball related accident."
