top five video games?

so what are your top five favorite video games? personally, heres my top 5:

5. Tony Hawk's Underground 2. i personally like it, and its fun and easy. plus it involves skateboarding!! now only if there were mystery boards in that game..

4. final fantasy 7. yes, overrated. but still pretty darn good. and a great storyline to go with it.

3. KH2. just love the gameplay, story, etc.

2. pokemon games. i just put them all in one category because, well, its hard to choose just one of them for the list. and i love them all too.

1. sonic the hedgehog 2. one of the first video games i played and loved. now i own mega collection plus, so i can play it whenever, too. what got me into video games. the thing that got me into who i am.

emperor26 03-08-2007 04:50 PM

1.) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
2.) Kingdom Hearts 2
3.) God of War
4.) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
5.) New Super Mario Bros.

Subzeroace 03-08-2007 06:49 PM

1. Psychonauts
2. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
3. Final Fantasy IX
4. Kingdom Hearts II
5. Um Jammer Lammy

Nathander 03-09-2007 08:21 PM

5. Super Mario Bros. -
I'm sorry, but the game is absolutely classic. It was my own introduction to video games, and for that I'll forever be thankful.

4. Final Fantasy VII -
My first foray into videogame RPGs. While I do believe it to be overrated, I do think it definantely left a mark on the RPG market in America and helped save it from stagnation. ANd it's a great game, to boot.

3. Shadow Hearts -
Incredible (and incredibly overlooked) somewhat early PS 2 RPG. It features a compelling storyline and characters, a well done soundtrack, and plenty of wonderful, Lovecraftian monster designs.

2. Xenosaga (Entire Series) -
I count the entire series in this because I believe it to be simple one of the single most ingenius games ever conceived. It was basically what Evangelion SHOULD have been.

1. Final Fantasy VI -
While I would play VI after VII, when it would have been considered "outdated", I still find VI to be the shining jewel of the series. I think it definantely had one of the best casts of characters ever assembled, an epic storyline, incredible graphics for the time, and an absolutely superb soundtrack.

Oh, and while Sephiroth from VII was a great villain, he doesn't hold a candle to Kefka from VI. Period.

These lists are muder because I love so many games that it's hard to choose just five. I think I'll list my fave rpgs in no particular order:

-Final Fantasy IX
-Chrono Trigger
-Final Fantasy VI
-Super Mario RPG
-Faxanadu

That's only the tip of the iceburg of my massive library of favorite games.;)

Partymember 03-12-2007 03:18 PM

no particular order here...

FF 9
Centipede
MGS 3: Snake Eater
Life Force
Metroid

Subzeroace 03-13-2007 06:38 PM

Hurrah! Lots of us have FFIX on our lists ^^ I went though disk 2 and 3 in one day one play though! Mom got mad at me for just sitting there XD

Partymember 03-14-2007 03:20 PM

9 was and is one of the best FF games ever. Totally pwned 7 IMHO.

well, pretty simple...

Final Fantasy Nine (am i talking slowly enough for you?) Was Better Than Final Fantasy Seven.

You dig?

Nathander 03-15-2007 11:27 AM

While I love FF IX a bit more than VII and have to agree with the majority of the sentiment here, I don't really think it's worth fighting over. I'm not trying to mod or anything, I'm just saying that possibly starting an actual argument that has the potential to get nasty in this thread isn't worth getting this thread closed over.

Just wanna say.

Subzeroace 03-15-2007 11:35 AM

I agree, 9 was better then 7. *pokes her Zidane poster* ^^

taranchula 03-15-2007 04:20 PM

Yeah I agree with Nathander, let's try and keep it clean here people.

Oh and BTW to me the pinnacle of the Final Fantasy series was and forever will be Final Fantasy 6.

Thank you and good night.

In no certain order:

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

Mischief Makers (N64... I doubt anyone else has heard too much on this game because it wasn't any sort of huge franchise, just a random game that Enix came out with before it merged with Squaresoft. Not perfect, but SO much fun! I could seriously play that game over and over and over again... and I have!)

Super Smash Bros. Melee (GCN)

Sonic 2 (Genesis)

Tetris (NES)

Sorry... no FF games. As a kiddo, I believe that I was never properly introduced to the franchise, so I never really latched onto it. I was always more of a Zelda girl anyhow.

Also, this isn't on my list, but did you guys know there was a Pink Floyd game for the Atari? I played it... and as much as I love Pink Floyd, it's still pretty boring! Hah, it NEVER gets ANY harder. It's seriously the same screen over and over again. I know I can't expect killer level design from the Atari, but still... they could have added more hammers or SOMETHING.

I loved Mischief Makers, and still have it for N64. However, I don't think Enix created it; I believe it was made by the primarily platformer-producing company Treasure.

Do not worry about that, I played FF1-3 but have not even seen any of the newer onse, besides I always thought Phantasy Star II was a mutch better game in comparison (although it got a bit borring since it was so looooong).

I have not even heard of most of the games that people mentioned. I guess I been out of tough with the Gaming world for a while.

Long Live PONG.

MOnty :-/

Pawbah 03-16-2007 11:31 PM

1. Kingdom Hearts (yeah the first one)

2. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

3. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

4. Kingdom Hearts 2

4 1/2. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

5. Pokemon Red (yeah, RED, one of the first ones) :D

I sense a pattern... there's a whole lot of zelda and Kingdom Hearts going on there.

It might have been created by Treasure, but I remember turning on the game and seeing a big green letter E with "enix" in all lowercase underneath it, so I know they had SOMETHING to do with it.

:D I still have it, too! I'm so glad someone else loves it! Hehe... "shake shake!" I love fighting the "Cerberus Alpha" wolf-man boss where you're riding on the kitty 8D

taranchula 03-18-2007 01:45 PM

RE: Mischief Makers

Treasure was the developer of the game, Enix was the company that distributed the game. This is because Treasure only makes games for other companies and doesn't release anything under their own name.

scary_dream 03-18-2007 02:32 PM

Rockin'. Thanks for clearing that up Taranchula!

Edit: I'm going to go play it now. All this talk of it has made me REALLY want to go shake up some Clancers XD

2. Star Wars: Battlefront II
