ROTFLMAO! Look at Wilt's face while they're forced to watch Bloo on tv-if THAT isn't a study in boredom, I don't know what is!

Sparky 03-05-2007 02:51 PM

Thanks. I'll probably have to special order these like I did with the other one, so if anyone wants me to get them a copy let me know.

I DEFINATELY want a copy, and I'll pay you back, no problem. We don't have much in the way of comic suppliers around here, just manga, so I doubt I can find one locally.

Sparky 03-05-2007 03:28 PM

Okay. I still have an extra copy or two of the first Foster's comic, want one of those? :D

Yeah, can't find it anywhere around here. Even though CG did post some scans up on her 'blog, I'd still love to have it.

Great; more that I cannot get from a store. More that I'll have to miss out.

Can't order them either since my family doesn't do the whole "order online" thing. :(

Absolutely I want copies.

CG 03-05-2007 05:29 PM

Sorry to hear of your plight antgirl. I guess all you can do is look at scanned copies online.

I've bought 30# one from eBay since the local store couldn't get them in.

Edited Update on the 15th of March:
I got the comic yesterday, and I scanned it into my LiveJournal. Whilst my LJ is normally friends only, I've made the comic public for all to see.

antgirl1 03-14-2007 07:06 PM

OMG. That was awesome!

One Radical Dude 03-14-2007 07:49 PM

Heh heh, I liked Ed near the end of the comic (that Matrix-y scene). 8-)

WiltFan 03-14-2007 11:04 PM

Lol, that is such a great comic! :D

jekylljuice 03-15-2007 03:18 AM

Thank you so much, CG. That was marvelous. :D

Wilt does pull a lot of very...apprehensive expressions throughout. I particularly loved seeing him at the start with his fingers crossed and all those beads of sweat leaking out. I wonder what movie he was so desperate to see? (Hoop Dreams, I'll bet). I love Coco's expression in that particular panel too - by contrast, it's a look of total resignation.

pitbulllady 03-15-2007 10:14 AM

Thanks for posting that, CG! It made my Thursday...a bit more bearable(I'm with Arthur Dent-never could get the hang of Thursdays, either). Wilt's expressions are DA BOMB(along with everything else about the Tall Red One, but then, that's me)! I'd love to know what movie he wanted to see so badly, though. And "Matrix Ed", now THAT was funny!

Imaginary Light 03-15-2007 11:15 AM

That was hysterical! Thanks for posting it:bloogrin: "Madame Foster, are we going to die?"8D

Voxxyn 03-15-2007 12:50 PM

That was impressive. The comic writers did a GREAT job with that comic story.

The Borders I go to has a comic book rack, and it includes CN Block Party; so I'll definitely buy the Foster's issues when I see them available there.

Now I just hope that the Frankie-centered comic this month will be good... **curls hands into anxious prayer**

Jetbaby 03-20-2007 06:42 AM

Just a reminder that Cartoon Network Block Party #31 goes on sale next week, with another Foster's cover story. Hoopla!

That was the best part!

Sparky 03-28-2007 06:02 PM

The comic shop called; issue #31 is in. So I'll be picking up my customary 6 copies. PM me if you want one.

Voxxyn 03-28-2007 06:12 PM

Could I kindly beg you to post a summary of the story once you get your hands on it?

Sparky 03-28-2007 06:21 PM

I'll try to. Lol I haven't even looked at #30 yet. ;)

k0ugs 03-30-2007 08:27 PM

Sparky 03-30-2007 08:49 PM

I haven't been able to pick mine up from the comic book shop yet. I've been absolutely flat-busted. :P They said they'd hold it for me. I'll try to get it maybe Sunday or Monday.

Cassini90125 03-30-2007 08:53 PM

Oh my stars, I have GOT to have this!!!

Did you want one of mine? I always order 6.

Cassini90125 03-30-2007 09:02 PM

Absolutely, and thanks! :-*

Voxxyn 03-30-2007 09:07 PM

Thanks very much for scanning and posting it, k0ugs.

I thought it was pretty good. In terms of storylines with Frankie as a central focus, this is infinitely superior to IHFUMEUP(but what isn't? :jk:) and on par with "The Big Cheese", but not on the level of quality of "Store Wars" and "Frankie My Dear" and "Setting A President". Still, though, it wasn't cruelly anti-Frankie as I was secretly fearing, so I'm relieved.

Oh, and that cover is beyond misleading. Mac is completely absent in the story and the IF Frankie wasn't nasty or scary at all. With the misleading summaries for EC and MBION and now this, I wonder if this has become a new trend.

Ditchy McAbandonpants 03-30-2007 09:35 PM

Heh...cute. :P

To be honest, I'm quite pleasantly surprised with the quality of these Block Party stories; not because they're anything mind-blowing, but because I had such low expectations. I've seen quite a lot of issues of the DC Powerpuff Girls comic - mostly later ones, admittedly - and with very few exceptions, they're just a total waste of time, demonstrating only a meagre grasp on the essence of the characters (from both an art and a writing perspective), with weak, edgeless jokes padding out utterly inconsequential six-to-ten page narratives. Even I, as a PPG obsessive, just couldn't bring myself to be anything other than utterly bored by them. ::)

These Foster's stories fare a lot better, though. It helps from the outset the the artwork is quite a bit better - Bloo and Frankie's expressions aren't quite right, but Wilt and Ed look dead-on - and the writing has some wit and flow to it. Of course, they're still primarily hamstrung by six-page running lengths that allow for about the same level of narrative complexity as a knock-knock joke, but they remain entertaining enough for the two/two-and-a-half minutes it takes to finish reading one. :P

Oh, and Voxxyn - the misleading cover thing is a problem endemic to the DC CN range, if the PPG comic is anythig to go by...I can't remember a single issue I read of that where the image on the cover in any way corresponded to something that actually happened in the related story. I wouldn't let it worry you too much.

Voxxyn 03-30-2007 10:00 PM

Thanks for the pointer.

After reading through #31 for the second time, I must say that the Block Party crew are doing a great job with Foster's so far, even with the ridiculously short six-page duration per story. The characters look AND behave like their actual selves(I don't see anything wrong at all with Frankie and Bloo's comic appearances), and the dialogue/set-ups are as clever as they are on the show(The child being too young for his IF, ditzy IF Frankie going on endlessly on her love of boys). They feel like authentic side-stories to entertain fans instead of cheap marketing padding made solely for money.

I do have some quibbles with Frankie's comic story, but I nonetheless find it well-done. I'll definitely purchase it when I hit Borders(hopefully this weekend)

Mr. Marshmallow 03-30-2007 10:40 PM

I was going to buy it, but after seeing the story up on the scans and realizing it's so short, I'm better off with already reading it here. Not that I don't want Foster's to make money but for a Frankie story, I honestly did expect a little bit more bang for my buck so to speak.

Anyways, the cover is completely backwards from the actual story but regardless, it was actually a very cute story. I didn't get why the kid was "too young" joke at first but after I re checked it, I totally got it and smiled :D. Talk about being a little pervert.

Looks like Mac wasn't the only kid to have googly eyes for Frankie. But by FAR the best part was seeing everyone at the door eyeing Evil Frankie. Dylan and Adam were a nice touch, Prince I expected to see, same with Chris. But Dylan?!? Now THAT was a shock, I really didn't expect to see him there.

I mean that doesn't change the fact he's an asshole but the fact they used him in this comic was a real eye popper for me. I think Vox is right when he says the comic gets the characters down right, they talk and act pretty identical to the show. I also really enjoyed Frankie and Herriman's chat.

"Your enjoying this aren't you?"

"Immensely"

Really? I always thought Phil Moy's PPG art was really great. But then, he wasn't doing a lot of work in the later issues, was he? Earlier issues in the run featured full-issue 22-page stories and more of Phil's great pencils.

But eh - you say potayto, I say potahto. ;D

antgirl1 03-31-2007 07:42 AM

LAWL. I loved it K0ugs!

That Dylan is certainly a tenacious little blighter, isn't he? 8D

Anyhow, a thousand thank yous upon you, K0ugs, for providing that.

k0ugs 03-31-2007 09:30 PM

no thanks needed folks, i do what i can

Jetbaby 04-25-2007 12:50 PM

Has anyone picked up issue #32 yet? Normally, I'd have purchased it by now, but I'm travelling on business. :P

Sparky 04-25-2007 05:53 PM

The comic shop called me today to say my copies of #32 were in; but I have to wait until tomorrow to pick them up.

Cassini90125 04-26-2007 11:48 AM

I'm definitely looking forward to my copy. It's really a pretty good story; would've made a good "short" episode.

Sparky 04-26-2007 06:38 PM

Oh I got them today...guess I could actually read it now, lol. When I get the time.

Sparky 04-27-2007 10:16 AM

I know I don't usually do this, but because I think this is the funniest comic so far, I've scanned it:

Here

Lol. 8D
