Episodes: Your Say
This isn't like an awards thing, but I figured since the Episode Discussion Board on this new forum is ... dead-ish, I'd break the ice with this opinion based thread.
The list of catergories includes but is not limited to: All-Around Worst/Best Episode Your Favorite/Least Favorite Episode Best/Worst Character-Based Episode Best/Worst Written Episode Best/Worst Animated Episode Funniest/Least Funniest Episode Best Tearjerker Episode ~Trav~ Best Episode: The Big Picture. It felt just awesome and mysterious. Everyone played a part... Worst Episode: Bloo Done It. It felt hurried to me...and Bloo's a jerk! Favorite Episode: Land of the Flea/Adoptcalypse Now Least Favorite: Mac Daddy/Cookie Dough. Best Written: Squeeze the Day. The timing did it... Worst Written: I Only Have Surprised For You. It ended and I was still thinking about the scenario for an hour. |
Here are my choices, using my personal categories:
ALL-AROUND BEST: "World Wide Wabbit" ~ To this day, the high mark that all other episodes are to be judged by. I know not every single one will be as genius as this one, so I'm thankful that at least MOST are of high quality. ALL-AROUND WORST: "When There's A Wilt, There's A Way" ~ You can criticize "Bendy" all you want, but at least nobody got abused physically or emotionally. This was completely unfunny, except Eduardo's appearance. And I'm sorry, but I hate it when the writers undermine their talent with lame "SHOCK'D! Oh, you were expecting a happy ending? OWNED, YOU LITTLE FANBOY!" endings like these. PERSONAL FAVORITE: "Setting A President" ~ Unfortunately, this episode doesn't get the appreciation it deserves. I'll admit that it probably a tad more inconsistencies than is normal for a cartoon(Particulary Mac's flawed list of "Classic Bloo Antics", and Madame Foster's out-of-character apathy towards her IMAGINARY FRIEND leaving), but I'm just glad that they didn't make it "Imposter's Home II" or another instance of a third candidate "shockingly" beating out the first two. It was a bold move to portray Frankie AND Herriman sympathetically, despite both of them being authority figures, in a mass-media climate where nearly all fictional authority figures are portrayed as being corrupt. It paid off greatly. This episode not only had some very funny moments, but it had genuine drama and heart, while still ensuring us that the beloved redhead/hare duo will clash in future episodes. It made me appreciate Herriman a lot more. And as for Frankie, she showed that she really does care about fairness and justice towards all the IFs--even the uptight rabbit that loves making her life hard. These two may be strict sometimes and may even take up the role of antagonists once in a while(Like in "Land of the Flea"), but it's obvious that they are both decent people who believe in Foster's cause(And they certainly would NEVER be as cruel as Madame Foster in FGTE) I'd love to see more episodes with a primary focus on their love/hate professional relationship, which are of the same quality and class as shown on this episode. MOST HATED: "Imposter's Home For, Um... Make 'Em Up Pals" ~ Absolutely terrible, I'm sorry to say. I hated hated hated hated HATED this episode. To this day, even after the semi-redemption provided by "Setting A President", the very thought of "Imposter's" sours me to no end. And with regards to Ms. Faust's defense on the ToonZone forums... I understand that not everything will please everybody despite their best efforts, but the episode basically played out as if they were intentionally out to upset Frankie's fanbase. And I agree that conflict is important, but I'm not so sure it applies here. "Conflict is necessary!" is a good argument to make if you're talking about, say, "Duchess of Wails" when it's Mac and Bloo vs. the very house that originally accepted them into their extended family. Conflict isn't the problem with "Imposter's", it's simply that they went too far. And to be honest, I have a problem with Ms. Faust's strawman-esque description of detractors as being "people who want everything to be roses and sunshine", because that certainly ain't me. Frankie's suffering is very entertaining when done right. Dedicating an entire episode solely to being completely cruel to a beloved character, at the hands of a jerk that even non-fans ended up hating, isn't. Not at all. FUNNIEST MOMENT: Anything Herriman's hilarious, funky side is shown. That should be obvious. MOST PAINFUL MOMENT: The ending to IHFU...MEUP. It broke my heart more than the endings to Bambi, Star Trek II and Super Metroid combined. I don't think I've ever wanted to transport myself into a fictional world so I could make things right this badly. The ending to "Foster's Goes To Europe" is a very close second. I really felt for poor Mac. My respect for Madame Foster is still yet to recover from what she did here. The only redeeming value, aside from the entire episode subtly showing how classy Frankie really is, is that at least Eurotrish gets to return to her homeland--but even that is ruined by the others being mean to her in the credits. Grrrr. FAVORITE MOMENT: Frankie winning the election in "Setting A President" was just wonderful. MOST TOUCHING MOMENT: Mac and Goo's conversation at the end of "Go Goo Go". Considering the episodes that preceded this, I was surprised to learn that the Foster's crew was still capable of showing genuine heart and compassion. |
Your Favorite Episode - Bus the Two of Us
Least Favorite Episode - I Only have Surprise for You. It was funny at first, but manic freaking out isn't really my thing. Worst Character-Based Episode - Berry Scary. "Cute" characters annoy the hell out of me, and the "sweet girl whose really a mean cow" thing has been done to death already on, like, every other show ever. Funniest Episode - Room with a Feud Best Tearjerker Episode - I'm a sap, so this is pretty much every episode ::) |
Best: I would have to say that the pilot episode, "House of Bloos" is the best out of them all because compared to the other episodes it was very story-driven, felt very epic in spots and introduced us all to the characters that we all know and love today! XD
Worst: For me, the worst episode is probably "Beat With a Schtick" because of what happened to Bloo in the end and it really didn't seem to have much depth. It was pretty much just about Bloo hiding from a supposed 'bully' and not wanting to get his face pulverised. What was really awful was that no one (with the exception of Mac) even tried to help Bloo (come on, I know he can be really annoying at times but even HE doesn't deserve to have THAT happen to him.) I don't necessarily think that the episode's that terrible, but when comparing it to other episodes of the cartoon it's really not that great, either. Favorite: My favorite episode is "Camp Keep a Good Mac Down" because I thought it had wonderful humor. Sure, the plot was almost nonexistant and was all over the place, but the humor was so random that it was funny at times. Plus, I liked that little song about Herriman that played during the credits. XP Overall, this was just a very fun, light-hearted episode. "Squeeze the Day" is in a close second fave, though and "Bus the Two of Us" would be third for me. ;) Least Favorite: My least favorite, again, is "Beat With a Schtick" for the same reasons mentioned earlier. Best Character-Based: I'd say that the best character-based episode was "Eddie Monster" because of the changes that Ed went through as a character. Usually, he is afraid of everything that moves, but in the end he ended up having enough courage to look out for and protect his friends. I just thought that was great. :) Worst Character-Based: I guess this would have to be "Everybody knows it's Bendy" because of the fact that he was a jerk AND got away with everything that he did AND the fact that Frankie and Mr. Herriman didn't believe Bloo and the gang when they told them they did nothing wrong. However, as much as I like Wilt, "Where there's a Wilt There's a Way" is in a close second because I don't think it really did much for his character. He also didn't really seem to learn much during his troubles in that episode because he still ended up telling Bloo that he'd get those chips for him at the end of it. XP Best Written: "A Lost Claus" was the best written, in my opinion, mostly because of its message (some believe that Mac believing in Santa has to do with having faith in many different things and just believing in hope or even God) and the humor in it (Bloo imitating the three ghosts of Christmas) balanced it out nicely. :) Worst Written: This one is probably "Imposter's Home For Um...Make 'Em Up Pals" because there really didn't seem to be much of a story with this one except Frankie having to deal with an annoying, bratty friend that looked human. Plus, some of the characters just seemed a bit off to me. Tearjerker: For me, this would have to be "Sweet Stench of Success" because not only did Bloo forget about how much he cared about Mac in the beginning, but he then realized that stardom wasn't what he thought it was. I really felt sorry for Bloo because of the way he was mistreated by Kip and that scene where he's separated from Mac really got me a few times! I know, I'm a sap! XP I'm also adding some of my own as well Most underrated: I seriously think that "Blooooo" is underrated. I know that it had some flaws, but it DID have some nice humor and was a nice Halloween episode. Most overrated: Most of the episodes with Cheese, I'm sorry to say. While I do like "The Big Cheese" and "Mac Daddy", they just don't really seem as heartfelt or deep as some of the other episodes (although the moment where Bloo finally learned to accept Cheese was rather touching and is an exception). Best moment: When Bloo apologized to Coco for the way he had treated her in "Cuckoo for Coco Cards". I know it must've taken a lot for Bloo to do that. It proves that he's not just a TOTAL jerk all the time. Worst moment: For me, that'd also have to be Madame Foster stealing those tickets from Mac in "Foster's goes to Europe". Ugliest moment: Bloo screaming forever...and ever...and ever in "Cuckoo for Coco Cards" when he was trying to get everyone's trading cards. That got a bit grating after the first two seconds. XP |

I was laughing. I would have just smacked him though. I'm immune to annoying noises like that (it's pretty much what my band sounded like).

Best, all-around A difficult decision, but I will say STORE WARS. The plot is very simple, but doesn't drag despite spanning a whole 23 minutes. The episode seems to aim to introduce the audience to each of the main characters and establish their personalities, and it succeeds magnificently in this regard. It's a pretty funny epsiode on top of all that.
Worst, all-around There are episodes that I dislike more than this one, but PHONE HOME fails on every level. The episode is not funny; it's not clever, it's not much of anything really. The simple plot quickly grows tiresome and there is nothing to make up for the episode's weaknesses. Favorite STORE WARS, it was the first episode I saw and it was what hooked me onto this show. I began taping Fosters at every opportunity because I happened upon a rerun of Store Wars on the Sunday after it premiered. Least favorite Torturing poor Frankie can be funny (see Store Wars, Busted). However, the torturing (for lack of a better word right now) of Frankie isn't what makes those situations funny; the character torturing her (Herriman is particularly entertaining), her reactions (funniest when reacting to Herriman), and the ultimate justice of the situation determine whether raising Frankie's blood pressure is entertaining. This reasoning is why I chose BLOOOOO as my least favorite episode. The episode has entertaining parts, but they are all but overshadowed by the long and unentertaining torture of Frankie. The whole sequence of locking Frankie out of the house in a thunderstorm, etc. absoluetely killed the joke ending, a joke that its sole purpose was to set up. Ironically, I was locked out in a thunderstorm the night that Blooooo premiered. Maybe that's what soured me to it. Best character-based FRANKIE MY DEAR was funny and based on my favorite character on the show. That's enough for me. Worst character-based WHERE THERE'S WILT, THERE'S A WAY, because the Bendy episode had one really funny part. It was close though. Best Written I've got to say THE BIG PICTURE. It had me guessing until the end, and the dialouge was consistently very good. "He looks like a Wally, doesn't he?" Worst Written PHONE HOME, it was as if no effort was put into writing it. Tearjerker Don't have one, Fosters has yet to make me cry, or even feel particularly sad. It's not a sad show, and it has few sad scenes. That's fine by me. Best Moment(s) I have two here, actually. The two times I've laughed for 5 or more minutes straight while watching Fosters. - Everyone Knows It's Bendy - bad episode, except for "I'M PUNK ROCK..." I laughed for probably 7 to 10 minutes. - One False Movie - I was rolling for probably 6 or 7 minutes after EXPLORIN' LAUREN first popped up. Worst moment When darn near everyone in house acts lazy in THE TROUBLE WITH SCRIBBLES. It just really bugged me for some reason. In conclusion, I've found something to laugh about in every Foster's I have seen, except for Phone Home. It's a great show. |

How could she do things like be so sweet to Mac in the Christmas episode (making him the stocking and whatnot), help him keep his Imaginary Friend in the pilot, or numerous things....and then all of a sudden do such a cruel thing as to steal his hard-earned tickets?? I think some of the writers are twisted, really I do. (Sad to say, I think Lauren is involved in a lot of those kinds of eps...it's supposed to come across as humor but I find nothing funny about using/tricking others in such a fashion.) |
You know, I've always half-wondered if they got other people to write Imposter's Home.
|
All-Around Worst: Imposter's Home. It leads up and you expect Goofball to be exposed for who he REALLY is, and it turns out he's not pretending! RAWR! It angered me.
All-Around Best: Go Goo Go. The one nominated for an Emmy, right? Besides, it introduced my favorite character. =D Your Favorite Episode: Infernal Slumber. I just REALLY liked the randomness, suspense, and running gags in that episode. Your Least Favorite Episode: Foster's Goes to Europe. I just... couldn't get into it. It had it's moments, yes, and personally I LOVED the ending, but the rest of it seemed rather redundant and stale. Everyone runs around trying to get ready for a plane trip to Europe, with everyone flying every where, and tickets trading hands and... ugh. Then, in the end, NO one goes to Europe except for Madame F and her friends (plus Eurotrish). Kinda stale. Best Written Episode: Cuckoo for Coco Cards. This episode really brought out Coco's character, as well as Bloo's. I enjoyed it very much, especially the whole Baseball thing. Worst Written Episode: Hmm... Although no episodes have terrible writing, I have to say FGTE for reasons above. Best Tearjerker Episode: Either GGG or CCC... odd... but yeah. GGG always has me crying, and CCC is definately worthy of my precious (or not so) tears. :'( Overrated: Mac Daddy. I liked it and all, but PLEASE, SHUT UP! I DON'T CARE IF YOU LIKE CHOCOLATE MILK, YOU AREN'T CHEESE! Underrated: CCC. |

No, it was the regular crew that wrote that episode, Craig Lewis was the credited writer, (Correct me if I am wrong, but this was right before he left the show to pursue other projects.) in fact shortly after Imposter's aired, Lauren posted on Toonzoon.net about how more or less shocked she was, that this one episode garnered so much criticism from the show's fan base. |

All right time to create my list: All-Around Worst: I'd have to say Bloooo. It was the only episode I gave below a 5 in the rating scale (out of 10). I didn't enjoy this one, because of pretty much what billy said. This wasn't an episode where Mac got a lot of screen time, thanks to he and Bloo being sick in this one. I liked a bit of the stuff Eduardo, Coco, and Wilt did in the episode, but that was pretty much it. All-Around Best: Man, this was a tough one to choose. I'd have to say "Frankie My Dear." This was an all-around fun episode, and this is definitely my favorite episode that has a lot of Frankie time in there. Also, this was the birth of Orlando Bloo. :blooevil: Favorite Episode: Again, this was tough. Duchess of Wails and Challenge of the Superfriends -- I nearly selected one of the two, however, I've selected "Squeeze the Day". This was an all-around fun episode, it was beyond adorable to watch, and you really don't see Mac and Bloo simply do all-around fun things together enough. They owned Foster's that day, and I thought it was great. Least Favorite: "Bloooo" "The Trouble With Scribbles" wasn't that much better, either. Best Character-Based Episode: I'm going to say "My So-Called Wife" This is by far Coco's best performing episode. Also gotta say "Duchess of Wails." Duchess doesn't get enough appearances, and this was a great episode with her having a significant role in this one. Worst Character-Based Episode: "Everyone Knows It's Bendy." I didn't like the fact that Bendy got away with all the shenanigans he caused, and Bloo was blamed for everything. Best Written Episode: Probably "A Lost Claus" This episode was received well by a lot of people, and I personally thought this was written very nicely. Worst Written Episode: "Bloooo" Best Animated Episode: 3-way tie - "Camp Keep a Good Mac Down," "The Big Picture," and "Squeeze the Day" Worst Animated Episode: I really can't think of one right now. Funniest: "Frankie My Dear", thanks to Orlando Bloo. 8D Least Funniest: Probably "The Trouble With Scribbles." Tearjerking Moments: No doubt that "Sweet Stench of Success" was very dramatic. Mac and Bloo were separated for a while, and Bloo was being treated terribly by Kip. "Go Goo Go" -- the scene with Mac and Goo near the end. Though not the most tearjerking moment, but in COTS -- Bloo weeps before becoming "Darth Uniscorn." |
All-Around Worst: Sorry my fellow peers, but there really isn't much.
All-Around Best: Well, I'd have to say...One False Movie, when Coco did that dramatic scene. XD Favorite Episode: Bus the Two of Us. Nuff said. Least Favorite: Personally, I really didn't like Imposter's home for um...Make-em-up Pals very much. Best Character-Based Episode: Go Goo Go. :D Worst Character-Based Episode: Everyone Knows it's Bendy. He should go to heck. 8D Best Written Episode: Isn't it obvious? Worst Written Episode: Um....none that I know of. Best Animated Episode: Wilt's all jumpy in Bus the Two of Us. XD Worst Animated Episode: The majority of the friends (besides the main ones, Bloo, Wilt, Mac, Goo, Frankie, Herriman, etc) always look "stiff", like it really "hurts" to move around, so they barely do so. The main characters, however, do look like they're "moveable". Funniest: Room with a Feud! When Wilt says "This room's fine as long as we don't think of the awesomeness next door," then says shortly after, "Shoot, I just did." Least Funniest: I really think that Bloo is too selfish, he just acts like he DOESN'T CARE about anyone. Then gets worried if he can't see Mac again, although he was a jerk before. This explains WHY I do not like Bloo much. Tearjerking Moments: The only time tears came to my eyes is when I was laughing. |
Best episode: In my opinion, Bus the Two of Us. It has so many little things that make me laugh! I love the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference, and I love whenever they swiftly throw the change at the toll booth annnnd... then it hits the window. 8D It also makes me laugh how Coco can fake sick.
Worst episode: Where There's a Wilt There's a Way/Everyone Knows it's Bendy. These episodes seemed like just a bunch of running gags to me. My liking for Wilt couldn't save it. Most nerve-wrecking episode: Foster's Goes to Europe. Seriously, I HATE being late anywhere, and I've actually had nightmares that unfold similarly to this episode. The whole thing is well done, but it makes me jittery. Most annoying credits scene: Bloo and the dancing cacti. Enough said. Funniest credits scene: Cheese and his various ailments. "I HAVE MANGE!" "I HAVE A TAPEWORM!" Most true-to-life episode: Squeeze the Day. Honestly... who can't remember a time in their childhood in which they had some time alone at the house and tried to do EVERYTHING they couldn't during this golden moment? Most frustrating episode: A Room With a Feud. This episode was good, but even my boyfriend (an avid Bloo fan) thought Wilt should get the room. It was just... obvious. But, of course everyone fought over it. Best Bloo-redeeming episode: A tie between Cuckoo for Coco Cards and Mac Daddy. It took a lot of guts for Bloo to actually say he was sorry, but it also took a lot of acceptance to finally take Cheese in as his "brother". |
Best Overall Episode: I'm torn. Either Store Wars or Adoptcalypse Now. Both cover the basics of how Foster's functions and gives pretty much everyone something to do. And they're funny. Very funny.
Worst Episode: Make 'em Up Pals. God, what a mess that was. Lauren Faust was so hurt by the reaction: "It's just a joke! It wasn't real!" The opposite was true, it was all too real. Favorite Episode: Partying is Such Sweet Soiree. Mac spent the first season as a somewhat bland voice of reason, and Bloo was starting to wear on some for his egomania. This episode changed everything. Mac goes psycho, and Bloo, in his strange way, is the responsible one. There aren't any real tearjerker moments in this show, but Bloo covering Mac with the blanket is strangely touching to me. Maybe it's because Bloo looks so worried, and Mac looks so irritated, like, "I can't believe you did this to me!" Add in Wilt's dance contest, Coco's love affair, Eduardo on a tricycle, and Herriman's fridge saga, and it's almost perfect. I just wish Frankie was more of a presence. Least Favorite: Make 'em Up, Bendy, and Europe. Best Written: Mac Daddy. Bloo's sense of betrayal in the first act, and admission that he does care about his "brother" in the third is beautifully handled. Cheese is handled perfectly, an annoying yet harmless and unthreatening little brother. Worst Written: My So-Called Wife is kind of...boring. Favorite Bloo moment: Orlando Bloo invades the date. Favorite Mac moment: The sugar high. Favorite Frankie moment: Smile. Hold up the disk. Oops, disks. Got that rabbit. That, or her reactions to Prince Charming. Favorite Wilt moment: Leading the hunt in Blooooo. "They've been out of business for years!" "Now that's really sucking!" Favorite Ed moment: "What's that, Baby Paco? Oh, you musn't say Wilt is estinky, even if it's truuuuue!" Favorite Coco moment: Fussing over her weight in "The Big Picture." Favorite Herriman moment: "...said Funny Bunny to sweet little girl!" Favorite Madame Foster moment: Cooking It. |
To be honest and (feel free to bash the crap out of me for this) but I haven't been able to see ALL of Foster's episodes. I know I'm a lousy, lousy Foster's fan but I haven't had the chance to get to see all of them just yet, my bad.
But I have picked out my fav. episodes and worked them into your little listings so here we go: All-Around Best Episode: Squeeze the day and probably Store Wars. I think Bloo has some of his best lines in these episodes like his "Blah" thing with the dancing flowers, and just seeing him go insane from boredom in "Squeeze", that was just priceless. Worst Episode: Duchess of Wails. I didn't like how this episode turned out, it really depressed me how everyone at Foster's was fighting against Mac at the end and it just seemed really out of character to have Terrence help. This episode just...gave me a bad feeling inside. Your Favorite Episode: Frankie my Dear. I love Frankie and this episode really helped me realize what a sweet, and attractive character she is. Bloo's disguise was hilarious, and just watching Frankie kick him and having it do nothing was just great. Plus, props to Frankie for booting that jerk of a boyfriend for bashing her friends! Least Favorite: Challenge of the Superfriends. It started off nice, but it just became a little too stupid and annoying with the cheesy super hero/villain characters. I also don't like how Mac was talked to as this "girly" kind of guy by the whole flower thing. Plus, it's been played on TV WAY too many times. Best Character Based Episode: Setting a president. This isn't just because I love Frankie, this is because this episode really showed how important Frankie and Herriman's jobs are to each other. I think this really shows who they both are deep inside, and how much of their hearts are put into this job. Worst Character Based Episode: Where there's a Wilt there's a way/Everyone knows its Bendy. Wilt is a nice guy, but he has limits and it didn't really suit him well to take all this crap and not snap. Bendy was a neat idea but Bloo has NEVER been totally evil, and it really seemed off putting seeing everyone never even suspect Bendy at all. Best Written Episode: Squeeze the day, hands down without a doubt. Mac and Bloo's reactions were absolutely brilliant. They were stupid, yet funny, and completely plausible for 2 guys like them sitting at home being bored out of their mind. I especially loved when Mac read Coco's diary "COCOCOCOCOCOCOCOCOCO". Worst Written Episode: None that I can think of. Best/Worst animated Episode: Considering the animation style, I can't really pick a best or a worst. Funniest Episode: Bus the Two of us. There was so much going around, Mac's reaction to Bloo driving was great and I LOVED Eduardo's sub plot with the matress sale. This was pure comedy at it's best, Mac and Bloo prove why they are the stars of this show easily in this episode. Least Funniest Episode: Foster's home for Um...Make'em up Pals. The idea was nice, but this episode was just not funny, it was just a character bashing ep. Goofball's antics were more annoying then funny and the whole "shock" at the end wasn't really funny, plus the fact no one could suspect Goofball other then Frankie...hard to swallow. Best Tearjerker Episode: None so far. Other Episodes I LOVED but didn't get to mention: Infernal Slumber Camp keep a good Mac down Bloooo! House of Bloo's |

Slowest Moving Episode: Berry Scary. Though it was funny, I can easily lose interest when watching it more than once.
Favorite Episode: Dude...Tough, but World Wide Wabbit. Best-Written: I Only Have Surprise for You. Having to work out all the kinks in that must've taken a little while. Plus I'll bet it was fun. Least Favorite: Uh...I love them all! But, I must admit it's hard to watch Imposter's more than thrice. Funniest Moment: Hot in Topeka. It's too hilarious! Most Underrated: Blooooo. It was my favorite episode for a while... Best Supporting Character: Is Goo still a supporting character? If not...NO IDEA. Best Look For A Character: Tied between Orlando Bloo, Wilt as a werewolf and Pierre. =3 Oh, crap. Wilt dressed up as Herriman too. More later. |
All-Around Worst: Imposter's. Goofball was annoying, and I felt bad for Frankie. No wonder Lauren claimed she was shocked.
All-Around Best: I liked Bus the Two Of Us. Japanese-speaking Bloo had me on the floor for like 6 minutes. Favorite Episode: The Sweet Stench of Success. It was well written, but CN never really airs it that much. :( Least Favorite: 2-way-tie between Everyone Knows Its Bendy and Squeakerboxxx. Bendy just annoyed the crap outta me, and Squeakerboxxx was just dumb. Everyone acted like the freakin' elephant was the reason of being alive. Best Character-Based Episode: Berry Scary. I love Berry. Worst Character-Based Episode: Go Goo Go. Goo really annoyed me in that episode, which is the main reason I dislike Goo. I was shocked when I hear it got nominated for an Emmy. Best Written Episode: A Lost Clause. Pretty good. Worst Written Episode: Imposter's. Thank god Craig Lewis left after this one, because if he still stayed on the show, I would have him fired. Best Animated Episode: A lot of em. Worst Animated Episode: I really can't think of one right now. Funniest: Bus The Two of Us. Least Funniest: Imposter's. Tearjerking Moments: None of em. Foster's never made me cry. |
First, I'll state that I haven't seen ALL of the episodes.
Second, I'll exclude the Pilot, though I'd put it at the top of the list nearly everywhere. Third, I won't put my fave episode in other rankings, though it's my fave for many reasons. Fourth, I may change my mind. It's pretty hard to choose. Favourite: Duchess of Wails. Least favourite: Ummm... Blooo or Phone Home, I guess. Blooo because it made me LMAO the first time, but the second I was just bored. And Phone home was pretty silly, though I liked the Wilt part. Most boring: Phone Home. Funniest: Camnp Keep a Good Mac Down/Gags in Bus The Two of Us. Least Funniest: Phone Home, still. Best Character-Based: Seeing Red/Cuckoo fo Coco Cards/Go Goo Go/Berry Scary. Worst Character-Based: Mac Daddy/Where There's a Wilt There's A Way. Best Written: Who Let The Dogs In?/World Wide Wabbit/The Big Picture. Worst Written: Hiccy Burp. Half of the episode passed with Bloo having hiccups and Blake Superior burping. Tearjerker: Go Goo Go, the end. Most annoying: Bloo screaming in CCC... ow! Silliest quote: sorry, but "Hot in Topeka" annoyed the cra- out of me. Best with most characters showing their particular traits: Infernal Slumber. Best Duchess moment: "Frankie! Turn off the alarm clock/Open my eyes!" Worst Bloo moment: I Only Have Surprise For You - listen, don't you think he's becoming too much of a jerk now? Poor Mac! |
Faves- Anything with Bloo/Mac being friends and resulting hilarity ensues. "Squeeze the Day" remains one of my all time favorites.
Worst- Anything where Bloo is being TOO much of a jerk and acting like he's not even Mac's friend. I hate "One False Movie", I've said that before, the only saving grace being Wiltie. I'm too lazy to go through all the categories. LOL |
meh I don't have a fave or leaste fave episode I like them all
=D |
I edited my original post, greatly expanding my thoughts--let's just say I held nothing back. And, I decided to add in a few more ones for the heck of it
Best Title: As much as this will hurt me, "Imposter's Home For, Um... Make 'Em Up Pals" is one of the most original and witty episode titles that I've seen used for any television show. Worst Title: "Hiccy Burp" for sounding very dirty and low-brow. Best Use of a Thin Premise: "Mac Daddy", for taking a glorified one-gag character like Cheese and making him very entertaining. And please note I'm not insulting Cheese in any way; because I think he's supposed to be such. He's kinda like the Homsar of Foster's :P Worst Waste of a Good Premise: "Imposter's Home For, Um... Make 'Em Up Pals", BY FAR. A potentially golden premise is wasted on what is basically The Passion of Frances Foster. Most Adorable Moment: The intercom gag in "Everybody Knows It's Bendy" is priceless. It revolves around punk rock, a very tough and gritty form of music--and yet Frankie acts as if Bendy had bashed The Little Mermaid! Because of that sissy response, some people might think that she is a 'poser'. Personally, however, I absolutely loved her for it. It shows that, no matter how much she tries to disguise it with her temper and fiery snark, she's still very vulnerable and human inside. Least Adorable Moment: Anytime Duchess appears. Not exactly Picasso's best work... Favorite Overlooked Moment: Frankie comforting the poor little friend in "Hiccy Burp". To this day, that very moment remains deeply ingrained in my memory, and it still makes me smile. It may not mean much to you, but to me, it's a simple yet very heartwarming display of Frankie's kindness. Best Writer: Lauren Faust is way ahead of all the other writers. All of the trademark episodes have been written by her. (And if you're reading this, Ms. Faust, please don't take my admittedly harsh comments on "Imposter's" personally. You're still a very talented and cool person.) Worst Writer: Craig Lewis. He's done some good episodes, but I doubt I'll ever forgive him for "WTAWTAW" and "Imposter's". |

An episode that just left you feeling a bit crappy:
"I only have surprise for you" I never thought in my wildest dreams an episode could make me feel so crappy other then "Imposter's", and while this is no where near as negative or bad as "Imposter's" was, this episode certainly is a CLOSE contender. I just got finished watching it like 15 minutes ago and I gotta say, this episode really makes Bloo like a monster. The level of annoyance, deception, teasing, and mockery Bloo displays here defies all other pranks he's pulled. Maybe I'm looking at this too seriously, but I'm finding it hard to find the humor in psychologically destroying someone's mind to the point where they actually FEAR birthday parties and end up getting royally screwed even after being sympathetic. This is a terrible downer to leave on Mac and I feel almost as bad for him as I did with Frankie for "Imposter's", at least Frankie accepted it gracefully at the end. Here, Mac is still left humilated and mocked by Bloo and everyone. The only thing that puts this episode above "Imposter's" in my book is that this actually has SOME funny moments. Mostly Mac going berzerk and acting commando on the party favors, and the fact Eduardo didn't know a dam thing. "I just go where they tell me" Other then that, and seeing Mac look in Madame Foster's underwear, this was more hurtful then ha ha. The main joke here is the same one that's played out in "Imposter's" and I'm happy the newer episodes stopped relying on this gag. The whole "misunderstanding the true meaning of something until the very end when we realize it was all a big misunderstanding blah, blah, blah". This is like the 3rd time I've seen this gag before. Imposter's, Bloo done, and now this one. |
Well said as usual, Mr. M. Why Mac would put up with that level of torment is beyond me, best friends or not. Had it been me I might very well have gone after Bloo with a crowbar, or at the very least told Mr. Herriman that Bloo is now up for adoption and been done with him. There's only so much one can take. But, they're Mac and Bloo, so they'll no doubt get through it.

Oh no doubt, I know Mac is a strong willed kid. He has to be to put up hanging out with someome like Bloo all day. But it just really amazed me that such a painful moment could be made like that in a singular cartoon show episode.
I mean I NEVER thought I would see an episode that matched the torment of Frankie's hellish expierence with Goofball in "Imposter's". And like I said before, the only thing that made this episode bearable was the fact there was funny stuff in it. Where as "Imposter's" was more subtle funny or it was attempting to. But it just amazes me after seeing at that episode that Bloo can't realize how evil he can be. "Bye Bye Nerdy" was pretty rude for Bloo, but this was a MILLION times worse. If they had just had Mac dressed as the clown at the end and actually having a REAL "artie birthday party", then it wouldn't have been bad. It would have showed Mac wanted to make amends and that Bloo wasn't entirely heartless. But for him to go to such great elborate lengths and to include Goo, Madame Foster, Herriman and everyone else is kind of a new low. |
I think this is something where they kind-of went overboard. There have been several eposides where the humor didn't quite come out right- I'm the type of person who can laugh at a tsunami but still it's not in the right area for a kiddie show. Which this is, in case anyone's forgotten.

I don't know, I thought it was kind of funny that every one mentioned above (sans Eduardo) had absolutely, positivley NOTHING better to do that day then to go along with Bloo's crackpot scheme. |
I thought the whole gag in "Surprise" was silly (which is good) but didn't come out quite right (which Kzinistzerg already said, now that I read...)
can't put my finger on why that is, it just seemed off. That everyone was in on it (including Herriman) was actually quote funny. Perhaps if they hadn't had Mac's nutty crazy trip ruin the fake party for the fake imaginary friend it would have been better (guilt trips just don't make me laugh). It was another episode where the twist didn't surprise me (like in "Imposters"), the writers tried to hard to convince me of what wasn't going to happen. |
The gag wasn't the issue, it was the fact that Bloo was going a great length to humiliate Mac........again. The fact that Mac has a physical fear of birthdays because of Bloo's actions is not exactly a healthy thing.
Bloo has literally warped Mac's perception of something and it not only caused Mac to act crazy (which I admit, was funny) but it made him feel sad and then humiliated again at the end. |

I did like the episode though. |
The extreme lengths wasn't the part that bothered me, it was just having Mac ended up looking like an idiot like with Frankie and Goofball. Similar thing but a different situation in a different episode, but I said it wasn't as bad.
This episode has funny moments, "Imposter's" barely had any, the only thing is that both episodes leave the centered character on a bad note and I really hated to see Mac go through with this kind of crap and have Bloo laugh at him for it. |
i love mac daddy, obviously, i haven't laughed so hard with my six year old son........ever!!! I'm a cowboy.

It's a collection of funny but not entirely entertainig parts.

I still haven't been able to see IOHSFY, so I guess I'm lucky. I've read about how Mac didn't exactly have the best time, but until reading this thread, I never thought it was anywhere near the level of "Imposter's".
It's pretty sad, because all the Season 4 episodes before that one have gone to great lengths to re-establish the friendship of Mac and Bloo after becoming somewhat estranged in Season 3. They were priceless in "Squeeze the Day" and "Neighbor Pains". |
It wasn't as bad as "Imposter's", but Mac clearly had a very bad day. I wouldn't have blamed him one bit if he'd put Bloo up for adoption right then and there.
|
Neither would I... but friendships have a way of managing to exist through stuff like that. I know for a fact that my oldest friend (who i've known since I was 2 and she was 4) has been on the recieveing end of me being a jerk, too often. I feel really bad about it, too... becuase she's so nice. I do my best not to be so much of a jerk now, though. My point is, Mac isn't the type of kid who'd give him off just for that, though I imagine he'd be pissed at bloo for a while.

Favorite Overall Episode: It's tough for me to choose one, but I think I like Cuckoo for Coco Cards the best.
Least Favorite Overall Episode: Foster's Goes to Europe makes me steam at Madame Foster. She wasn't clever and funny. She was just mean and cruel. Most Touching Episode: World Wide Wabbit still makes me feel a great deal of sympathy for Mr. Herriman. I think it's very sweet that he still sings the "Funny Bunny" song to Madame Foster. Best Written Episode: Since I already mentioned Cuckoo for Coco Cards, I also think One False Movie was terriffic. It's time for Explorin' with Loren! Worst Written Episode: Everyone Knows it's Bendy and Where there's a Wilt There's a Way. I think they were sort of cliche and not too funny or interesting. Best Moment: I will always love the "Doctor! Doctor!" bit from Sweet Stench of Success. Also, in I Only Have Surprise for You, I LOVE the Herriman/Mac hug!!! Additionally (I appear to have difficulty deciding), I love anything with Orlando Bloo! Worst Moment: Since I already mentioned Fosters Goes to Europe, I think I Only Have Surprise for You when Mac was tricked again was one of the worst since ALL his supposed friends took part in humiliating him despite his rather vehement and vocal wishes to not have a party. Most Underrated Episode: I loved Blooooo. I thought it was a very fun episode with some great horror movie parodies. Favorite Character Episode: I love Eddie Monster, since Eduardo's my fave. I also thought Bloo's impersonation of Eduardo was priceless (even if Bloo was once again the jerk). Best Costume: Orlando Bloo of course takes this, but my other choice is that adorable outfit Eduardo wore on the news show in Sweet Stench of Success. Most Underrated Episode: My So Called Wife always makes me laugh. "Stop that, you daft woman!!!" always cracks me up. I also loved the sarcasm lessons (or am I being sarcastic in saying that?!!) Most Overrated Episode: Mac Daddy. I love Cheese. I thought the episode was great. I just happen to think that there are better episodes. |
