Best Graduation Gift Ever... with a Foster's Twist!

Is it considered fanart if the art in questioned wasn't necessarily created by a fan, but by a fan's best friend?

Back in February, my friend Lauren asked me for a color picture of Wilt. I gave it to her, but just had to ask: "What do you need it for?" She refused to tell me what. I let the subject go, but would occassionally wonder what the heck was going on. :terrconf: Fast forward now, to May. Lauren gave me my graduation gift before practice started the day of the ceremony. She handed me this big bag stuffed with paper towel (apparently, tissue paper was lacking at her house). I opened it and, lo and behold, I find this:

(Only without the family couch for a background...) This is what she needed the Wilt picture for: to make me a piggy bank in art class! This is a fully functional piggy bank, although the lobes are hollow, so it's harder to get the coinage out of the bank. I have to admit that it looks pretty sharp sitting on my shelf. ;D

I was so happy to receive this. I know it isn't the perfect likeness, but one can only do so much when sculpting. That aside, it was a handmade gift, and something that Lauren knows I love-- Foster's and Wilt. (So, Lauren, if you happen to stumble on this thread, thanks again! :D)

Aww, that's just way too cool! And very sweet of your friend to make it for you. :D May he take in lots of money for your future enjoyment and/or needs.

What's he made out of? She did a great job on him, whatever he's made of. :D

That's so neat! Who would have ever thought of a Wilt "piggy" bank?

Amazing! What did your friend make it out of? :)

Thanks for all the warm compliments. The next time I see my friend, I'll tell her that you all really liked the bank. :)

In all honesty, I'm not sure. I know that the piggy banks were part of the pottery unit, so some type of clay I imagine. I know that it was fired in a kiln-- whenever I try to get coins out, I get a few flakes of kiln ash, too. 8D (You may actually be able to see it on the sides, so if the red looks plaer on the sides, it may be ash and not where the flash washed something out.)

Apparently, my best friend! She's really inclined to put a lot of good thought into people's gifts so they're perfect. (And she KNOWS how much I love Foster's and how Wilt is my favorite-- she's even helped me fine tune some details for my fanfics.) It truly is the thought that counts with this girl.
