Hence why I STILL agree with your gangster theory.....

Yeah, they don't look like a friendly crowd of IFs, THAT is for sure. They give me the shivers, actually.....

Now C'MON, doesn't ANYBODY think that his rival there looks like he came straight out of the "Yellow Submarine"?? LOL I absolutely love his design, and can't wait to see what his name is rather than calling him "basketball-head dude" all the time. 8D

Interestingly enough, I had some ideas swimming around in my head about doing a fan-fic solely based on pictures like these, imagining what the scenario is and what exactly is happening. (Besides an actual basketball game, duh.) I gave the 60s-looking dude the name "Jackson Pride". Don't know why, but it seems to suit him well or something. Or that even the gang he is involved in, if there is indeed one at all, could be named that as a title.
Like it? :)

ps- Okay after looking at him and the way he's drawn, I am CONVINCED this rather strange Imaginary was designed as a direct nod to the Beatles' animated movie. He HAS to be, it reminds me of it in every way! (Lauren if you're reading this, could you let me know? Pweeeeease??? lol)

Another shot, this one without Wilt (gasp!):

Any ideas as to the identity of the blonde woman?

This spells out "Frankie and Mac looking for Wilt" to me. They may be going throughout the town asking if anyone's seen him. Therefore, she could just be some random neighbor.

Cassini90125 11-16-2006 07:25 PM

I'm hoping it turns out to be Kathy but I doubt that's the case.

Yeah, Frankie's friend whom we have heard mentioned, but not yet seen, unless she was that brunette driving the car that Bloo sideswiped with the bus in "Bus The Two of Us". She's the one who tried to call Frankie on her cell phone in that episode, only to reach Bloo instead, and later called her at the houses, prompting yet-another Wilt panic attack. She called to ask Frankie to go pick her up since someone, it seemed, had hit her car with a bus. Se is also the person with whom Frankie is talking at the beginning of "Frankie My Dear", complaining to about having to do all that paperwork and not being able to go out with the others.

I noticed that he's wearing the exact style of early-Sixties basketball uniform that Wilt Chamberlain wore back in the day. Probably just a totally meaningless coincidence, but his colors(green and yellow)are the same as the uniforms I picked for the opposing human team in my fan art pic, "Days of Glory".

Tonya 11-17-2006 09:04 AM

Yes, that defenatly looks like Wilt Chamberlain's basketball uniform that the "Basketball Dude" is wearing. Has anyone noticed it looks like Wilt stole the ball?

My question is, how does Wilt get inolved back in that "gangsta" scene, that is if he and they used to be rivals? We all know that Wilt is the type to avoid all conflict whatsoever, I'm wondering how he get's in to this; and I also have just a simple little theory.
It was way back in the day when Wilt used to be involved in his "gang" scene. He used to have two arms then plus two good eyes. Now, he either made a bet with the the gangsters and lost, or got snitched somehow-either way, they beat him up and tore off his arm and broke his eye. Well, now that Wilt has run away and is back out in the rough, ugly, hood, he runs across his gang scene again. He remembers what they did to him, and wants to avoid them, but they start making fun of his "disabilaties", saying stuff like, "I bet you can't nothin' with one arm and that broken eye!".
Okay, you know how Wilt acted like he was gonna kill Bloo when Bloo said, "How's the weather up there?"? If it were me, I'd be even angrier about someone making fun of my-what they call "disabilaties". So, that ticks Wilt off a little bit and he shows them "Who can play".

Actually, it appears from the longer trailer that was shown online that WILT instigates the current conflict. He makes a late-night phone call to someone, using a very challenging tone of voice, telling whoever is on the other end, "I bet you never expected to hear from ME, again, DID YOU?" Wilt is clearly calling someone out, iniatiating a challenge, and making arrangements for a show-down. There was absolutely nothing nice and polite about his tone! I have to assume that the person on the other end is that Basketball-Headed Dude.

Wilt APPEARS to be very non-confrontational NOW, but that does not mean he was always like that. We've seen that he does have a highly competitive streak in him, and it would not be surprising to find out that in the past, Wilt tended to have a bit more of a chip on his shoulder when it came to conflicts and someone dissin' him. Much of his current nature could very well be the result of emotional trauma he experienced along with his physical injuries, and feeling that he needs to attone for something by being so nice and helpful to people. In the longer online trailer, Wilt also tells Bloo, who catches him leaving the house, that "I've done something really terrible, and I need to set it straight", and that does reinforce that Wilt was involved in SOMETHING illegal or just plain bad in his past, and was not as nice a person as we see now.

I know. That's the politically correct term.

Spoiler Below
I just happened to watch the video trailer for GWH again(it's now on the CN Foster's site homepage), and noticed something for the first time. When that group of IFs and their creators are gathered around "Sockey-Tubey" on the lawn, watching a basketball game, you can hear the announcer-listen for the name of the player who shoots the winning basket!

CG 11-17-2006 02:48 PM

Ooh. Think it's a good idea pointing that out, pbl...?

Sparky 11-17-2006 03:23 PM

Spoiler Below
I am *positive* that same basketball player was called by name elsewhere in the series. I'm just *positive*, though I don't recall which ep.

CG 11-17-2006 03:30 PM

Guys we were told to ignore the name, now you're telling folks to listen out for it. I don't really see that as fair...

But this was aired on television, which is different than a slip-up with CN when they put that picture on the website. I don't find the problem with it, if someone like PBL can point it out, others can too. There's nothing wrong with that once something airs on TV. At that point I consider it "out" and safe to talk about. That's just my opinion, anyway.

Well that's not really fair, PBL makes mistakes just like everyone else, including myself. Yeah ok, we're supposed to be more secretive about the name, I'll spoiler-tag some stuff I guess, and we shouldn't say anything else until the movie airs (not even with spoiler tags, I suggest).

I think you misunderstand me, I was actually supporting her, saying that it was no big deal she pointed that out, since she didn't even say what the actual name was.
I could be wrong, of course, but that's just how I feel on it. :)
But yes, I agree, nothing else should be said on it until after it airs. This seems to be getting out of hand at times! LOL We are all crazed fans, after all...:D

CG 11-17-2006 03:53 PM

Whatever, I'll just leave this topic alone from now on.

Sparky 11-17-2006 03:55 PM

Yeah...but she gave instructions on how to find it. (And I couldn't resist adding that I had heard the name elsewhere in the series too, though again I forget which ep). We ought to treat it as a "big deal" though, since Lauren basically asked us to.

THANK GOODNESS we have less than a week to contain this powderkeg. I'm exhausted already.

And then comes the real fun, when the episode gets analyzed and creatively misinterpreted. December promises to be a busy month. ::)

I didn't say what the name was, and it would have no significance except for certain people. There's enough emphasis put on it in the trailer, though, that most people can catch it. Geesh, I don't think that any major Hollywood blockbuster, Pixar's included, has ever generated so much pre-debut discussion and controversy as this one particular movie! I mean, yeah, Wilt's WAY better looking than Brad Pitt and never made an utter fool of himself by jumping up and down on Oprah's couch on television, but still, this is getting too intense even for me!

LOL 8D That image of Brad Pitt jumping up and down on a couch made me laugh. XD

Yeah it is getting intense, which is why I'll say again they made note of this movie WAY too early, giving us too many months to wonder about it. I would have preferred hearing of it maybe one month in advance at most. But it was more like six, if I recall correctly...

Cassini90125 11-17-2006 06:19 PM

It may have been even longer; it certainly seems that way sometimes.

The latest issue of TV Guide had this to say about the movie:

Good Wilt Hunting (CC) NEW

That's all. It was in the grid section for the 10:00 pm showing on Friday. By the stars, that magazine has become virtually useless in the last few years. :P

I'm sure PBL is deliberately exaggerating with that remark, just to show how excited she truly is.

But I have to say this: I'm amazed that a thread for the commercials and preview alone has generated TWO HUNDRED PLUS messages. It makes me wonder how many posts the actual movie will get... :o

I don't know, but one thing is for sure: No matter what the outcome, be prepared for a lot of...well, let's just say the term 'complaining' doesn't cut it for a movie such as this.

Another(not Wilt-related)thing I noticed in the trailer is when Mac and Bloo are walking through the yard, surrounded by all the IF's and their creators. Watch as they pass that "Iron Giant" IF-his creator(on his shoulders)looks an awful lot like Brad Bird!

And would somebody with either better hearing or a better sound card in their computer please tell me what the name of the basketball team that wins the game on Tubey's tv set is called? I swear it sounds like the announcer says, "COWS", but WTH would anybody name a professional basketball team(or ANY team, for that matter)such a thing?(Unless they're sponsored by Gateway) Oh, wait, I guess it's a play-on-words with the Chicago BULLS, so maybe this is a women's basketball team??

I think the announcer just said "Town" instead of "Cows". What? It could be! We didn't even know the city's name!

I just saw a new ad(well, it was new for ME-some of you might have seen it, but this was the first time I did)on CN for GWH during the showing of "Sweet Stench of Success" tonight. It doesn't mention Wilt looking for his creator, but says that he goes on a "cross-country trip to confront his past", and shows two scenes with him and that Basketball-headed Dude meeting up in some dark alleyway. I can tell you this much-I was totally expecting to hear 50 Cent or Young Jo in the background on those scenes. If there isn't gonna be some sorta gansta lean in this movie, the folks at CN sure are going out of their way to make us think that there is!

I don't get to see any of the good ads because my mother watches Nick all day.
I bet the mods are gonna need to take some stuff and drink some stuff to handle this board on the 25th, lol!
*sings* Oh Wilt, Oh Wilt, I love ya! Oh Wilt! Your Good Hunting's only 4 daaays aaaawaay!". Yeah, I had to do that-it's an expression of exitement.
By the way, I know this HAD to be brought up before but, I wonder why Wilt hasen't set of on his journey before when they'd have pic-nic's with their creators?
Well, atleast I'll find out in the movie. Speaking of movie, I wonder if they'll have the movie on VHS, (yeah, I don't hae a dvd player) or DVD? Y'know, I just bet they'd have all the good stuff on dvd. Good stuff.
