Today almost wasn't worth it. Even if it was a holiday. :P

As usual, my parents get stressed around the holidays, getting everything ready and all. But it's bad enough that they have to bicker, yell and scream at eachother, and me. :P I understand that my parents are a little uneasy around this time of year, but the least they could do is not take it out on me. ::)

The PETA tards are at it again:

Someone needs to explain to them that robots don't make good mascots, and stupidity doesn't make good PR. ::)

Up until 10AM this morning, my mobile broadband was working fine...then it suddenly decides not to connect for half a day, and when it finally does, it's slower than what it should be. It's not what I pay £15 a month for.

Still in limbo about a work placement I'm supposed to be starting next week, too...which quite frankly isn't going to be worth it. Sick of being pushed around by the system, to be honest.

EA Games released a new patch/update for the Sims 3 game today. It contains, among other things, a new feature called "Shop Mode", which allows you to buy things from EA's online store while you're playing the game. The general consensus is that it ought to be called "Spyware Mode", but that's another story. Anyway, the patch, like all EA Sims patches, is broken, and broken badly:

Sims3packs are the file format used for the stuff EA wants you to buy from their store, the format used by every upload and download on the Sims 3 Exchange, and is used by several independent sites as well, including TSR. Good frikkin' grief. EA needs to learn that it is a very, very good idea to TEST UPDATES THOROUGHLY before unleashing them on their customers. ::) :P

Yesterday I got three items from the random drop system in TF2. Usually I get NOTHING each day. It was cool.

Whoops wrong thread for that.

I hate it when I'm bored out of my mind. In fact, I'm probably bored out of my mind right now! D:<

I went in to work at 6am today. And of course I was up late last night. Got to bed at about 1. And then I was woken up around 4 by a thunderstorm. As much as I adore thunderstorms, I'll admit I was a little irritated at getting even less sleep than I was going to be getting anyway. As soon as I got off work, I put my PJs back on and went back to bed. Woke up in time to watch "Arthur" on PBS, only to see that, due to the holiday, they're not airing their regular schedule. That was a let down. But I learned that CN was having a Loony Toons marathon all day today, so I watched that instead and that was nice. It's just I'm so tired I feel sick. I just feel "blech". :P

I am ticked off at everything and everybody today. I am just looking for a reason for somebody to make me angrier (not on this forum of course). I just feel like smashing something:terrence:

I just got back from dropping Kiwi off at the boarder. The lady told me that recently someone dropped their cockatiel off for an overnight stay and never picked him up. They tried contacting the two phone numbers on the sheet the people had filled out and they were no good. They even tried sending a letter to the mailing address and it came back.

So in other words, someone abandoned their bird at the boarder by filling out their contact sheet with bogus information and not returning for him. -_- I guess he's going to the bay area cockatiel rescue now.

This bus driver cut me off in a traffic circle today. Then she proceeded to honk her horn, open her window, and yell at me. Lady, not my fault you don't know the proper definition of a "yield" sign.::)

taranchula 02-02-2010 08:05 PM

Today, someone or something hacked into my hotmail account and sent spam to everyone on my contact list.

Yeah it was real nice trying to explain to my father about the cryptic e-mail that contained just a hyper link in it.

By the by, if anyone from around here receives a similar message from my "account" get rid of it immediately and let me know about it.

Nearly getting broadsided by a Cadillac SUV (I drive a Prius). The woman was talking on the phone (so what else is new with these AZ drivers). I took a picture of her license plate, then waved my phone at her saying "I got your license, and I am going to report you." I left her at the intersection with a worried look on her face.:frankiemad:

I'm not interested in having a personal Facebook but they're good for online businesses (especially ones on etsy) so I signed up for a business profile. I filled out all the information it asked for only to find out that by doing so I had irreversibly converted my business profile to a personal one, with my own name as the page name, my schools listed, and nothing businesslike remaining. Since I had used the username I would want for the business I have to get the account completely deleted so I can start over but their deletion form wasn't working. I found a contact email for them online (not on their own site though) so MAYBE it will get done. Someday.

Seriously, if you have a business account and filling in all the fields they SHOW you will transform that account into another type, why not provide some kind of WARNING? A little note somewhere, or a pop-up that says "You are about to change this business profile into a personal profile, there is no way to reverse this process, are you sure you want to do this?" Way to go, Facebook. :jk:

edit: They responded by quoting the article on their site telling me to use the form (the one that wasn't working). So I tried it again and magic, it worked. I'm thinking they fixed it because of my email. Now I have to wait as long as 2 weeks for the account to be deleted so I can start over.

I have read a lot about this kid. He is over six feet and really thin; I heard he is real brilliant (IQ-wise). A lot of people there are making a hero out of him (the younger crowd anyway).

wow thats bad...

Lynnie 03-25-2010 08:12 PM

Work. Good news- DD's gone. She decided the world of all things makeup and hair and fashion was more her thing. Figures, with all the junk she had on her face/hair/nails every day, and reeking of perfume like she did. :P But now she's gone! Yaaayyyyy!!!!! Now I just hope she doesn't decide to come back because she still could come back.

Bad news is, Ms. Moody is still there and throwing her weight around. And she ticked me off today-

Among many other retailers, we offer customers coupons off of their next purchase if they take a survey about our service. One of the questions they have to answer is if they were completely satisfied. As in, 100% satisfied. Our service could have been awesome, but a run in with someone else's pet, or seeing a mess outside in the parking lot could bring that down to only 95% or something. So very few customers answer "100% satisfied", which of course gives us bad marks. So Ms. Moody wants us cashiers to ask every customer "Were you completely satisfied today?" along with all the bajillion other questions we need to ask them, in hopes that the customer will remember when they take the survey that, yes they were 100% satisfied. And if they weren't satisfied with something we'll know what we need to work on. Yeah, sounds ok at first maybe. But it's an invitation for attack. If someone is unhappy and decided to be not give us a hard time about it, and we ask that, we get an earful which could ruin anyone's day. And one of my female co-workers had a guy answer back
Spoiler Below
"No, but I bet you can satisfy me."
I mean, come on, I don't want to ask that just in case someone gets the survey and forgets that they were happy with their shopping experience if I'm going to make myself so vulnerable! :terrence: So I just try to be as friendly and helpful I can be, hoping at least their check-out was nice.

And, like many retailers, corporate wants us to push the sale of more expensive products rather than the cheaper ones because it'll likely mean that not only will the store make more money, but those customers will be more likely to come back because we're the only store that sells a lot of this stuff (which of course still means, more money for the company). They sent out buttons we're suppose to wear to promote customers asking about our "BEST" products. Now, we wear buttons now and then. Sometimes they're cute, and sometimes they really are for a good cause. But these are just plain boring, and they're as big as frisbees! One girl called it
Spoiler Below
a third boob
because it's so big and cumbersome and gets in the way. It's not policy that we wear them though, it's only to be "encouraged" that we wear them. I'd rather not wear it, it's ridiculous, and unnecessary and just another gimmick hoping to make more money for corporate. So I haven't been wearing one.

Anyway, Ms. Moody told me today that if I continue to "rebel" my job is on the line. She wants me to ask everyone if they were "satisfied", and she wants me to wear that ridiculously large pin (of course it's large just so customers will notice it more, while it makes us all look like total clowns). UGH!! The pin isn't a big deal, fine, but asking everyone if they were "satisfied today" is just her thing. It's not even a company wide "encouragement". And frankly, I'm not comfortable with it!

Does she notice how happy customers are with how I help them? No. More so than customers who were helped by employees who are just following the rules and aren't genuine at all? No. Is one of the questions on the survey something like "Were employees genuine and friendly, or lacking all personality?" No. Seriously, one of the questions should be "Do employees ask too many questions?" because not only do we feel silly asking a third and fourth question over and over and over again, the customers seem annoyed after a while, too. :P

Cassini90125 03-31-2010 11:44 PM

DeviantArt fracks me off, but not for the usual reasons. Seems that the staff over there decided that to commemorate April Fool's Day it would be "fun" to change everyone's avatars and sigs to Twilight-related crap. Fine, whatever, I'll just change it back to something not retarded, right? Guess again. I tried that and got a message in big purple letters saying "TEAM GAGA!!! WOOOOO!!!!!!!11". Yeah. I didn't shell out $30.00 for a premium membership to have my page messed with by a bunch of morons who can't even moderate their site properly. Sheesh. ::) :frankiemad:

Imaginary Light 04-01-2010 07:52 AM

If I were actually on DeviantArt, my icon would probably already be Gaga, and not as an April Fools joke.:P

Sparky 04-01-2010 08:13 AM

I got Lady Gaga. I feel like I've won the lottery, lol.

Yeah I think you should be able to opt out of the April 1st shenanigans on da, but you can't. Or maybe even better, be able to opt out IF you're a paying member. I dunno.

antgirl1 04-01-2010 12:27 PM

I has Lady Gaga too. :(

Cassini90125 04-01-2010 12:40 PM

I wish I had Lady Gaga. I like her; I loathe Twilight. My avatar says I am a member of "Team Seeker". As for my sig, well, behold the retardery:

Quote:

This is Kahlan Amnell.

She's a BAMC, HBIC, and just about any other awesome acronym you can think of.

Her hair will cut you.

'Legend of the Seeker' for the WIN!
Bleh. I want my flashing avatar and malicious sig back. :frankiemad:

xxxClaire 04-01-2010 06:26 PM

I got Lady Gaga too!
...But I miss the Mudkipz...

Lynnie 04-01-2010 06:43 PM

Didn't dA do this last year too? And likely in previous years as well? Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be like this only for the day.

I haven't had any pranks pulled on me yet today, other than minor ones online which I haven't fallen for. :P But that doesn't tick me off. What's ticking me off today is my internet connection. WiFi is being weird, something with the access point (the apt complex's). I haven't been able to get on for over an hour. And I don't have dial up anymore to fall back on. Aarrrgh!

Howard 04-01-2010 08:33 PM

It went back to normal at midnight PST, don't worry.

One Radical Dude 04-02-2010 02:19 AM

I was "Team Seeker" on DA. :P

antgirl1 04-02-2010 09:15 AM

Yeah and I was lost on the whole "Legend of the Seeker" stuff. I almost mistaked it as a movie I liked (I think it was just called "The Seeker" or something), then I saw a trailer for that and nope, different, stupid-looking movie. 8D

Sparky 04-14-2010 01:48 PM

My printer won't print black. The cartridge is full. I've tried cleaning the print heads, nothing. -_- It's going to be hard to fill orders if I can't print any shipping labels and receipts. I am completely broke, I can't buy a new printer - and besides, I need the kind of printer that prints dvds/cds and those are getting hard to find.

Sparky 04-15-2010 03:04 PM

So speaking of printing, I went to a local sign printer last week to have a little professional sign made for my business, to display at shows (I have one Saturday). So they had a good week and a half to make me something, which I figured would be no problem for a place that claims they can make signs in a single day. But I didn't hear from them for about a week so I went over there yesterday only to find they hadn't done anything because they wanted my approval on a pre-print -which they hadn't done yet, could I come back tomorrow? -_- So I went back today only to find that the colors were no good and that was the best they could do. So now I have to print out my own sign (on my brother's printer of course), like on 4 sheets taped together. There's going to be a news crew there and everything and there I will be with my ghetto homemade sign. Thanks a lot, sign people. :terrence:

Sparky 04-22-2010 03:31 PM

We have a community car wash spot in the parking lot here at my apartment, and about 90% of the time some selfish jerk has parked in it. A lot of the time people seem to treat it not only as a regular in and out spot but some sort of car storage, leaving the same vehicle in it for weeks at a time. My theory is that they think if they leave their car in the car wash spot, someone will wash it. :jk:

Medikor 05-04-2010 06:09 PM

What ticks me off? My college-bound brother! He feels the need to go all in depth about the simplest things to show off how "intelligent" he is. The worst part is when I just tell him I flat out don't care, he treats me like I'm some primitive and ignorant. No, bro, there's a fine line between not knowing and not caring.

...Seriously. To me, a rock's a rock and a bird's a bird.
