Meanwhile, the time has come again to have my car registered for another year, but I have yet to see the notice to do so come in the mail, and I'm worried. It may have gotten lost in the bulk mail I got while I was at my parents' place for a month and a half. I'm not sure what to do about it because I need the barcode and number on the notice to go through with the registration. :macwor:

Mine came up in the spam section which makes me wonder.::)

Yeah it turned out to be a "rogue antivirus program" which pretends to be an antivirus program that finds stuff, makes IE launch with porn sites, and tell you you need to buy this "program" to fix your computer. AVG couldn't fix it but I found something else that would, so hopefully its okay now. :P Yayfun.

Stupid people have buzzed my apartment four times today. They're here to visit apartment #4; I live in apartment #1. Read the buzzer labels, people. ::)

Lynnie 09-30-2009 05:22 PM

There seems to be thefts around me right now. Yesterday, a new neighbor who was moving in with a friend had to have his furniture and belongings dropped off apparently before his friend got home and/or he could get a key. Meanwhile, he organized his stuff in his friend's parking spot, as it's covered with a carport and it was raining quite hard. Poor guy was trying his best to keep as much as he could dry. This morning when I left for work, it appeared he still hadn't been able to move his stuff inside. And sometime during the night someone had come and picked through everything. The lamp I remember seeing was gone. The cushions were gone off the small sofa. There were bare hangers and torn boxes scattered all over the parking lot. :bloosad: Man, if it hadn't been raining so hard last night, I'm sure he would have just tried to sleep on the sofa or something, but it was just too wet last night, and I'm sure he found somewhere else to stay for the night. But dang, it just made me sick. :terrence: When I got home from work today, all his stuff was gone. I hope he was able to salvage what he could and get them into the apartment.

And, an acquaintance of mine had his car stolen last night. He tried spreading the word by sending out a mass text message to everyone in the area to keep an eye out for his car. Unfortunately, I don't think I've ever seen his car, but I had my eyes peeled for any small red car on my way home from work. I don't think I'd be able to help much. But again, man, it just makes me sick.

Okay, ever since the Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga and Kanye West (I know, I know...I was going for Gaga. I love me some Lady Gaga.:P) was announced, I'd been looking forward to it like crazy. Crazy! So, yesterday the Livenation pre-sale tickets for Buffalo went on sale. I bought them right after class and got fantastic seats. Then, last night, it's announced the tour's cancelled. And why? Because of that whole Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident at the VMAs. I guess the promoters were really ticked off with him and so they dropped him from the tour. Instead of just continuing on with the tour with only Lady Gaga, the whole tour's been cancelled about a month before it was supposed to start. All because Kanye couldn't keep his big mouth shut.::)

Whatever. Gaga's touring again (alone) in March. So I guess I can wait. It still annoys me though.

That makes at least two of us. There's fine line between thin and wafer thin, and that image from the link (knowing full well it was digitally modified) perfectly describes the latter.

On a completely different note, ABC gum annoys to no end because when people don't discard them in the trash bins, I discover them by chance when I try to grab a rail or fiddle with the bottom of the desk. I don't want to think what else was in people's mouths at the time the gum was chewed.

I think I have something called a DNS hijacker on this computer. About 80% of the time when I click a link in a search engine it takes me someplace else and often I get a "threat detected" popup from AVG. It ticks me off because I just bought that other program to take care of the fake spyware program on my other computer and its not helping with this. I can't afford yet another program. -_-

A follow-up story:

Seems that the model was fired awhile back for being overweight. Now I'm not a medical expert but it seems to me that a woman who is 5' 10" tall and weighs 120 pounds is not overweight. ::)

My laptop is in the shop...again (I had to take it in in July for a myriad of problems). Now it won't boot past BIOS, even Safe Mode doesn't work. I do have this computer I'm on right now, my desktop, so I'm not computer-less, but geez. I had to drop $100 for them to back up all my data so I can have it on this computer, and it could be weeks before I get the laptop back. I need a new one so bad. :P

At least I still have a couple weeks on my service plan so I don't have to pay for it. :/

Lynnie 10-16-2009 10:53 PM

This may not tick me off so much as make me sad, but I ran into one of my old work friends this week. I've known her for almost four years now, and she was one of the few managers I had whom I was actually able to develop a decent friendship with. She quit a year and a half ago because she couldn't handle Ms. Moody anymore. Man, I wish I could do the same thing... :P

But anyway, she got married about a year ago. I still remember well all the excitement getting to that point, and seeing all the beautiful pictures. And things seemed to be going splendidly with them. But at seeing her last week, she commented how she lives in a new city now, thus she's not in the area much any more. And she has a 95 year old roommate, so she might as well be living alone. I asked "You're alone? But what about...?" I admit, I forgot his name. But she wouldn't have let me finish anyway. She shook her head and said "uh uh". So I bit my lip. How sad! They were so happy a year ago, and so in love! I have no idea what happened, and I'm uncomfortable asking. I guess I'm hoping she'll contact me on the web and tell me, but I doubt she will. And what makes things worse, she looks totally different and was dressing in a much more "trashy" way. And her personality seems to have changed. She's much more loud and aggressive now, not sweet and soft spoken like she use to be. I'm sure the split up had something to do with that. That's always sad to see. I know I probably don't really know her anymore. :bloosad:

Howard 10-17-2009 12:02 AM

That sounds like what happened to my ex-gf, now roomie, and royal pain! This woman has so much value and potential, and now she is throwing it away and becoming more morose.::)

Between her and the recent influx of scorpions I have killed in my house...I am going nuts. The scorpion problem is caused by lack of rain on the outside and they need to run to a place where they can get moisture and better dark spaces. There has been a high volume of calls to exterminators and stings more than ever. You can live in a $4.5 million house out here, and still have the little buggers. The more florescent colored, are the ones to watch out for (high venom potency).:frankiemad:

Broken relationships can leave scars. :bloosad:

And now, the weirdly annoying news, specifically the continuing saga of "Balloon Boy" and his whacked-out family:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091018/...boy_in_balloon

Anybody else been following this story? If the whole thing turns out to be a publicity stunt by dear ol' dad, a former "reality show" participant, I hope they throw the book at him. Sheesh, what a moron. ::) :P

So a word of warning to anyone who ever has to have Best Buy do a backup of their hard drive: you have to tell them specifically what files and folders you want backed up. Otherwise for a hundred bucks all you get is Desktop and Documents. -_- I was told that they would back up everything but program files, and then when I got my hundred-dollar backup all it had was desktop and documents. Yes, I have my iPod music but...no. Not what I paid for. So I called them and they had to pull my laptop back out of the shipping box and get the drive back out and they're putting the specific stuff I need on dvds so I don't have to bring my drive back out to them again. I'm supposed to get them today.

:wiltyeahright:

fosters home fan 10-19-2009 02:30 PM

Sorry to hear about your computer problems.

When I got my current computer (more like 'puter, amirite?) from Best Buy, they didn't install/put on any of that backup junk on it.

What type of laptop was this? Just wondering.

Sparky 10-19-2009 02:43 PM

Its a three year old Gateway. Windows suddenly decided it didn't want to launch anymore, so BB had to take the hard drive out to hook it up to something and run a backup off of it if I want to keep my old files. They might be able to fix it without any data loss, but it can be weeks before I get it back and can't go that long without my stuff. I have a business to run after all. :P

Sparky 10-20-2009 12:18 PM

When you order something from a website or a seller, and then it gets canceled because its out of stock.

THEN WHY WAS IT ON THE WEBSITE? :wiltyeahright: Stupid.

scary_dream 10-21-2009 01:34 PM

Good question, I mean, with a mail catalog it's understandable because they print it and can't take things out once it's sent out. But for a website there is no excuse!

Yeah I hear you ladies on that one, right now I am looking for a new place to rent and a lot of the rental websites I look at are out of date as they'll say that a certain property will available apartments, but when I contact the landlord or property manager I get told that is fact not the case and there no availabilities at all.

Okay that's slightly different, but still it's the same kind of hassle.

And to all of you webmasters that run these sites I have one thing to say to all of you, WAKE UP!!! :P

Sparky 10-27-2009 09:14 PM

I am so sick of seeing people making money off of my fanart while I sit here broke. -_-

Cassini90125 10-27-2009 09:38 PM

That's reprehensible. :frankiemad: What happened?

Sparky 10-27-2009 09:44 PM

Oh no this has been happening for more than 10 years. My Beetlejuice lineart has been on the web so long that people think its stock art and not even fanart. I see it on stuff everywhere, ebay and etsy etc. People copy them and post them on deviantart (at least that's not for profit). They've even been printed in magazines, along with the episode guide of the cartoon show I wrote ages ago. People think its all official and free to use. I just saw a lady selling a crochet pattern she made from one of my drawings on etsy, so OTHER people can take it and make stuff with it. -_- It just makes me sick inside. There's nothing I can do about it, since its been out there so long no one can trace where it came from.

edit: here's another one. So speaking of etsy I joined today to sell my stuff on there. My company name is "Sparky's Stitches" but that name is taken by someone who not only isn't using the account but doesn't look like they ever did. But there's nothing I can do about that. :P So I guess my shop will be called "NeitherSparky". Bah.

Sparky 11-05-2009 02:16 PM

I got my laptop back. I haven't turned it on yet but apparently they had to replace the hard drive so I lost everything that was on there. The backup Best Buy had run for me before sending it in for repairs wasn't complete (it didn't include for example my website backups) so I have lost that - but I had backed everything up in June so at least I have that. I've just lost everything I've done between June and October. Apparently when BB did the backup those files were actually not on the computer at all, so whatever killed the computer must have eaten them. :wiltshock: Well I won't be using that laptop as my main computer anymore, anyways.

Cassini90125 11-06-2009 10:52 PM

We had a 90-minute power failure this morning; it effected the entire block. Man, life is incredibly boring without electricity. :P

Lynnie 11-06-2009 11:12 PM

My lights and heater have been flickering over the last 30 minutes, too. Well, the heater doesn't "flicker" I suppose. It just.... hesitates.... for a milisecond while the lights are flickering. But it's making me nervous. I haven't seen any lightning. But it's kind of windy, so that must be why. Ugh, I don't want a power outage tonight. :P

BluebottleFlyer 11-07-2009 01:11 PM

I recently started a forum for the Mr Men Show. Like I did for Foster's fans, I uploaded several episodes to Megaupload. But then my laptop died and I am stuck only using this old desktop without a lot of memory, and basically I can't use the computer for anything else while I am processing videos. Since I make my living on the internet (such as it is) I haven't been able to process any more eps in a while. One person on there has been a huge whiny b*tch about it, constantly demanding episodes. (I never promised I'd do them all, I just did a few, and of course I am now a slave and must do every single episode to the exclusion of any other activities.) I have explained multiple times why I cannot work on eps right now. Right after my last, detailed post about it, a completely different whiny b*tch exploded in allcaps SCREAMING at me to MAKE MORE EPS NAO!!!

WTH is wrong with people???

^Is all I can say about it. Really, that's just too much. I went to the forum to find the thread to learn the full story only to find it closed. But from what I understand, if episodes are needed NAOLOL they can try looking elsewhere, or take the time and effort you have done to make the wonderful downloadable episode files of their own themselves. Not having an episode the minute after it airs is not a big deal, people. ::) [/rant]

Is it a sign that the Mr. Men fandom's already going sour? :(

Sparky 11-19-2009 03:40 PM

I just couldn't deal with it today so I closed the forum. I don't remember ever being pissed enough to do that here. When and if I reopen the forum, that person will be banned. But I haven't decided yet if I want to re-open it. Most of the cool Mr Men fans from DA, some of whom have even joined, have not yet posted, and I have a bigoted kid with whom I have trouble containing my temper (he thinks its wrong to be gay because The Bible Told Him So). Plus its only a Simplemachines forum, which I can't make as secure as a vb, but I'm not going to pay for another vb. It might be best to leave it closed.

As much as I hate to say this, but my older brother ticked me off. The reason: he and his girl (now ex) broke up nearly two weeks ago, and I just learned about it today. Why am I bothered by it? From what I was told, it sounded like my older brother did not really care for her. His ex did a lot for him, but unfortunately, he still felt like she didn't love her at all. I know his ex well enough, and she is a sweet person. I feel more sympathy towards her than I do for my brother. :terrence:
