Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Dude, this was an awesome and hilarious movie. Edgar Wright has really proved himself as one of the most creative directors working today. All the visual gags and jokes were awesome, and there's even some cool video game music in this film. Michael Cera was brilliant as Scott, Kieran Culkin was freaking hilarious as Wallace Wells 8D, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead was gorgeous as Ramona Flowers :-*. I highly recommend this movie.

Last movie I just watch is Mars Attack. (BOOM!)

Ditto.

I've never read the comics but many of my friends have gotten me into the story over time. I couldn't help but jump on the band wagon too when I heard the movie was coming out. Last Friday on its premier day I escaped the heat by going to the theatre. I think I can say I'm an official fan now, not just a supporter. :D

Micheal Cera was adorable if I may say so, he holds the perfect amount of geekiness, innocence and humor to pull off Scott's character brilliantly. And I love Kim, she's so funny! She reminds me of Mandy from another of CN's forgotten originals- "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy". I learned that Allison Pill, the actress who played Kim, also did voice work for another seemingly forgotten cartoon called "Redwall". She did the voice of a gentile young mouse named Cornflower. Wow, what a contrast of personality between Cornflower and Kim. 8D

Cera is rumored to be cast as Gilligan in the upcoming Gilligan's Island movie. 8D

Terminator Salvation

Unbreakable

Inglorious Basterds

Me and my girlfriend had no money the other day so we literally did NOTHING and watched movies. The first I watched out of boredom and was just needing something to pass the time but the others were films I had wanted to show my girlfriend for a while, I was pleased to find out she really enjoyed both of them .

zachary2142 08-16-2010 02:43 PM

I've seen Inception today. Finally, a mainstream movie that actually requires you to use your brain cells and remember what happened before! Definitely an improvement from Avatar.

CGI was great too.

Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo

I finally got the chance to see this movie (courtesy of my oldest sister living in LA), and I have to say, I have to agree with what Mr. Marshmallow said WAY BACK in 2006. It was awesome. I especially loved
Spoiler Below
the Robin/Starfire part at the end. Very sweet. 'It's about time' indeed.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World. Make plans to see this movie if you haven't already. It is pure fun and a great story. San Diego went nuts having the Scott Pilgrim Poster on the entire side of one of their hotels at the Con. I saw the trailer, and I thought "this is gonna be good," and IT WAS. If you are a gamer, you are in for a treat of a film. The guy who produced this is a genious! The DVD will be MINE when it gets released that way.8D

If you mean the guy who directed it, his name is Edgar Wright. His other films are Shaun of the Dead and (one of my favourite films) Hot Fuzz. And yes, the DVD will be mine also on the day of release. Heck, I'll even pre-order it the minute I see it. 8D

Edgar Wright, I could not remember the guys name (my brain went into vapor lock):bloocross:

Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones.

I'm watching all the Star Wars movies in order, seeing as I've never done so before - it turns out that I actually understand the storyline now!

Oh yes, it will be mine too. MINE!!! Muahahahahahaaa!!!! :blooevil:

I saw it a second time, this time with friends from work. I caught some stuff I didn't catch the first time I saw it. It's one of those movies where it's impossible to catch everything until you've seen it a dozen or so times. That makes it even more fun!

Another Castle 08-31-2010 01:28 AM

I saw that!
I liked all the running jokes, the director has done these before (remember "You've got red on you" from SOTD?;D). I've read the first two comics, and it was unusual for me to see all those familur scenes acted out. I also thought the film would drag on with that many boyfriends- lucky two of them were twins!
Those opening crdits must of been no good for epilepsy suffering people! :wiltshock:
It asn't really done that well in the box office

You can blame Stallone for that!

My favourite part was when Lucas Lee stepped out of his trailer and the Universal Studios theme started playing! 8D

And Seltzer and Freidberg unfortunately. (And no I don't care if I spelled their names wrong.)

Another Castle 08-31-2010 11:31 AM

I think it hasn't so far because it is rather querky and niche, a bit off the beaten track from mainstream and quite a crazy mish-mash (in a good way!). Apparently at some test screenings some people left during the first fight scenes (although it earned praise from other directors such as Kevin Smith). Stilll, it is early days, perhaps world will spread. It does deserive to be called a big flop already, and I wonder how well it will do in Europe. Has anyone read the comics?

Toy Story 3 was excellant, a departure from the first two, you don't seesuch dramactic scenes in the trailers! Big merchendising of course, Woody and Buzz have appeard on apples and kitchen paper! Some of the darker scenes have been turned into Lego toys! I would have liked to have seen more from Tim Dalton's character, the thespian hedgehog

Good, I wasn't the only one who noticed that when looking at the Toy Story 3 Lego sets.

I wonder how many demented kids (or adults) used one of those sets to make a more sinister version of the film's climax? :P

Okay, I think I need to stop reading this thread until I buy the DVD. :bloocross:

Seriously, from what I've been reading here and elsewhere this is starting to sound like the movie of the decade, or something along those lines. Would those of you who've seen it care to give it a rating on a scale of 0-10?

Howard 08-31-2010 08:19 PM

I will see when I buy the DVD. First that, then Scott Pilgrim is mine as well.

Gladly. I give it 100! 8D

Despicable Me

I just came back from seeing this movie and I have to say, it was very charming. Steve Carell was wonderful as Gru, the minions were definitely hilarious, and the three girls really defined cuteness, especially Margo (Miranda Cosgrove). I thought she was adorable. A very sweet and funny film.

frankie_fan 10-27-2010 07:30 PM

The A-Team

I love it when a plan comes together! Especially if it's done right. This did it right. With Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Sharlto Copley playing the roles of Hannibal, Face, B.A. and Murdock, the film remains with the 'crime they didn't commit' storyline but modernized for today. But still, the action scenes were awesome (how often do you get to free-fall and shoot from a FREAKING TANK?!? 8D) and Sharlto was hilarious as Murdock. This is a very good film that pays homage to the original show and worth a see. Also, there's a scene after the credits. It features cameos by two of the original cast members of the TV show.

You were right. It had me on the edge of my seat. By the time it was over I had a big smile on my face, a tear in my eye, and a very warm feeling in my heart. Well done, Pixar. Well done.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

Awesome movie all round, I don't what I enjoyed more about it, the countless video game references or the countless references to Ontario based chains.

Lynnie 11-09-2010 10:31 PM

Same here! Just got the DVD today. :D I think I said it before but I love the bits and pieces that are aimed to comic book readers and video game players. So those of us who understand and "get" it all are a special breed or something.

taranchula 11-10-2010 07:18 AM

Exactly, it's a movie/comic written by nerds and for nerds or for those who are nerds at heart.

Howard 11-13-2010 06:56 PM

I got both "Toy Story 3," and "Scott Pilgrim." I really enjoyed "Toy Story;" had a tear, but the rest of the movie made me feel good. "Scott Pilgrim" I already saw in theaters and so naturally I enjoy it!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl

Doing a mini marathon of sorts, trying to watch the Pirates movies back to back; one each day sort of thing. Getting even more pumped for these movies after seeing the trailer for "On Stranger Tides."

Tangled

If you haven't seen this film yet, see it now. I think it's one of Disney's best non-Pixar films. It's down-right hilarious (courtesy of a horse) and very sweet. Out of all the songs, one of them is my favourite, and it involves thugs. That's all I'll say. Go see this film, it's brilliant and hilarious.

The King's Speech

I'm not at all disappointed that this film won Best Picture at the Oscars instead of Toy Story 3, because after seeing it, I think it's a brilliant film. Major props goes to Geoffrey Rush (who really should've won the Oscar) for his hysterical and brilliant performance. If anyone believes that this film is nothing more than a fancy-pantsy film, prepare to eat your words. It's nothing short of brilliant, and well deserving of the Best Picture Oscar.

Ccook50 05-17-2011 01:35 AM

The original Ocean's Eleven on TCM last night. What an ending.

frankie_fan 06-28-2011 07:36 PM

Summer Wars

Anyone (except me) who saw the anime film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time should know the director of this film. It's a fun, if dramatic, film that works as a mix between The Proposal and WarGames.

Kenji is an average high school student who works part-time as a moderator on a virtual social network called OZ. His crush, Natsuki, then invites him to her summer home to celebrate her grandmother's 90th birthday. However, two things complicate them. One: Kenji must pretend to be Natsuki's boyfriend in order to impress her extended family! Two: a deadly AI is hacking the virtual world of OZ, and Kenji's been taken the blame. However, Kenji, Natsuki and her extended family must soon bond together in order to stop the AI and unite as a family.

The film delivers great comedy (ESPECIALLY the final scene of the film), surprising drama and awesome action that really shines. This is one of those anime films that I think will be considered a classic overtime.

I just got done watching "Paul." What a wonderful movie. It starts at the San Diego ComiCon, and ends at the same. That is all I am going to say, other than I recommend watching the film.

Sparky 09-11-2011 08:20 PM

Saw that at the weekly movie night at a friends' place, I liked it too. I was the only one in the room who'd been to SDCC and recognised the place before they showed something that actually said Comic Con on it.
