The "take charge" girl attraction isn't unusual, people like girls with different personality aspects in RL for similar reasons. It's not that unusual or difficult to think people could feel the same way for toons. The whole familiarity thing isn't really what I meant when I was referring to anyone can find toons attractive.

My point is notice how characters are drawn sleeker, more curved, or have legs or breasts that are depicted more noticeable then others. The fact they do that is a sign of attraction meant to be felt by the main toons or characters, so its easy to see the attraction when they design the character in such a way.

Oddly enough, some of my toon crushes have been rough, tough, action girls who honestly are not my type at all yet I've still found myself attracted to them. Kei from the anime series Dirty Pair is one, Videl and Android 18 are both harder then nails girls from the anime Dragon Ball Z and I still crushed on them too.

Its always better to find someone to crush on your more personally compatible with, but as they say "true love is blind" and "you can't help who you fall in love with". Just like when Lisa crushed on Nelson Muntz in The Simpsons, she couldn't explain it but she liked him and that's the only way to describe it.

Ccook50 12-09-2007 04:09 PM

I may take note of something that occured in the 1940s. When Tex Avery was doing his Red Hot Riding Hood cartoons, somebody broke into MGM's cartoon studio and stole some inked and painted cels of Red. Preston Blair, who animated Red for those shorts, still had his original roughs, so they merely had to clean them up, re-ink and repaint those drawings. Blair said he was honored: "Red was worth stealing. Wow!"

I'll agree with you on that one. I don't mind Gwen if she's busting Ben's chops. It's if she does it over and over again that it gets annoying.

I know what you mean. Australia has a weekly countdown show called 20 to 1, and one of the subjects they did was Sexiest Movie Moments. The scene where we first see Jessica Rabbit made the list. I don't remember what position it placed, though! I think it was at #18.

I may be alone here, but honestly I've never found Jessica Rabbit to be the slightest bit attractive. Obviously a lot of guys do, but as for me... I don't know. Women like her, or Ginger from Gilligan's Island, they've just never appealed to me. The only one that ever did was "Hot Frankie" from GWH, but that was only because it was Frankie, not because of the look itself. It doesn't work for me; I can't really explain why, though. Just one of those things, I guess.

Medikor 01-14-2008 06:39 AM

Your not alone there, Cass. I can understand why people would be attracted to Jessica Rabbit but ladies like that just aren't my type.

Your actually not alone, I don't personally find her insanely attractive, she's not bad but she's not really "my type". The reason I mentioned her is because that's the best and pretty much only example where both humans and toons reacted so strongly with their affections directed towards a female toon.

If people ask how can you find a toon sexy, well, nearly everyone in the whole movie went jaw dropping at Jessica and if toons can't be sexy, then no one should have reacted to her the way they did. My point is that by the way she is designed, drawn, and her features enhanced, you can see attraction.

She has features that RL women do have and find sexy, its simply be turned into an animated format. Its those features that help us try to understand and relate to a toon character when we see them hitting on another toon. Take Lola Bunny for example, we never could have understood why Bugs Bunny liked her unless her figure was drawn in a seductive manner.

It helps us connect with the toons personalities but understanding where they are coming from and saying "yeah, I see how he/she could like her/him". That connection is the bridge between understanding why we like toon girls and guys and why we are "attracted" to them. Of course, its harder for some people to accept the next step into toon attraction: non human toons.

I have a friend who has the major hots for Ariel the little mermaid and Harley Quinn from Batman: the animated series, but he can't see or understand the attraction of non human toons like Lola Bunny or Gadget from rescue rangers. Me personally, I can find attraction in a toon whether she's human or not.

right on. Everytime i see a compilation of Ladies of the IDF (Israeli Defense Force) i gotta do a double take. Its cool to see dirty fatigues, combat vests and assault rifles and then this angelic strawberry blonde smiling while on patrol in a jeep. 8D

Mr. Marshmallow 01-18-2008 04:31 PM

I think the reason I find myself drawn to harder edge toon girls more often (besides physical attraction) is I have a habit of trying to find the good in everything. Tougher more "hard ass" kind of girls usually have a soft side in them and its much harder for them to bring it out and when they do, its very sweet.

Kei from Dirty Pair, Ryoko from Tenchi, or even Urd from Ah my goddess. Urd is VERY sexual and aggressive and that is DEFINITELY not the kind of guy I am but I still crush her (Belldandy as well ;)). I also know this is sudden having JUST seen them minutes ago, but I think I found out 2 new toon crushes.

I just saw the new CN show George of the Jungle, which I thought was stupid at first, I still kind of do. Anyway the point is they have 2 female characters on the show, one is George's girlfriend Ursula and the other is a jungle girl I never heard/seen before named Magnolia. Needless to say....they look pretty hot :cheese:.

I know that must sound awfully shallow and pretty crude for me to just like them for their looks, but I can't help it, I was really amazed at how nice they looked. Not my strongest toon crushes mind you but still, I don't think I'll be getting then out of my head soon.

That's perfectly normal; after all, humans are visually-oriented creatures, programmed to respond to looks. Everybody does it. In the beginning it's usually all you've got to go on anyway. It's no basis for real love, I don't think, but it's certainly more than enough for a crush. ;)

Howard 01-19-2008 06:10 AM

I may be dating myself, but I grew up on the original George of the Jungle (jay Ward studios), and I always thought the females were hot! This new GoJ is just as corny as the original - but I love it!

Mr. Marshmallow 01-21-2008 09:49 AM

I was planning on writing this yesterday but things came up. Reading Cass's deep words about Frankie and valentine's day kind of put me up to this, so I apologize for those who don't like long ass posts but I got something pretty long ass to say. As I have gotten older and I'm now about to graduate from college with my bachelor's degree in the spring, I still have yet to find a girlfriend.

I have tried plenty of methods and tactics to meet girls, and none of have them have really worked out like I planned. My age doesn't really force me to want to rush but merely the notion of wanting a girlfriend. Anyway, the more I think about it, the more I realize that despite how utterly weird and "insane" this may sound, but I find myself more and more drawn to toon females then ever.

I think one of the reasons I don't really feel 100% bad about not having a girlfriend is knowing that while they may not be real, I find my heart filled with such joy seeing wonderful animated woman who inspire and encourage me. I think of the celebrities and pretty women we have out in society today, and I can't help but think how they could learn SO much from a single toon.

They have qualities that are admirable, beautiful, and downright sexy. They give me something to believe in and while I know I will never find a girl like a toon since they are designed to be so nice and wonderful, I find myself happier thinking about what I would do on a date with toon girls then I would with an actual person. I find myself thinking about that a lot lately.

I imagine if I was dating say Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon or Mahoro Ando from the anime series Mahoromatic, I imagine what I would wear to impress them, where to take them, to open the door and pull their seats out to be polite to them, and I can just imagine seeing them blush so adorably and being so kind and caring I'd feel like I'd be walking on air or cloud 9.

I also think about what they would say to me because in a weird way, I think about how they would think of me or speak about me. I usually don't care what other people think about me. I am content with who I am, what my interests are and I have no desire to change for anyone other then myself. But hearing Jupiter or Mahoro or other toons speak highly of me, to hear their voices say those words, it would mean so much to me. Pardon my sappiness.

When I watch TV shows or movies, I don't think of cartoons or TV show characters as actors playing characters, I get really involved and think of them as a real person to help get more involved in the movie or show. And as I have gotten more involved in toons, I find myself thinking more and more how that toon would react or respond to meeting me in real life.

Its silly and a total fantasy which I know will never come true and that doesn't bother me in the least. But the thing that matters most is the feeling, the feeling I get when I would picture meeting someone like Belldandy from Ah My goddess or Bunnie Rabbot from the Sonic the hedgehog cartoon and how wonderful it feels to imagine how they would react to me as an individual.

Its that feeling that makes me feel good inside and makes me feel more positive about finding a future mate and feeling better about myself. In a way, the toon girls I crush on give me strength and give me someone to look forward to. Some people idolize athletes, humanitarians, or celebrities but me, I find these toon girls more admirable and idol worthy then anyone I know.

Very touching and well said my friend. It sounds like you're making an effort to find someone so as far as I'm concerned, it's not a matter of "if" but "when". Heck, that sensitivity you just showed us all could be what helps you find Mrs. Marshmallow in the future. Just keep your chin up, bud. You've got friends rooting for you.:D

rossfellow 01-24-2008 03:44 PM

Frankie.

I dont think I even need to explain myself. Frankie's qualities stand out in broad daylight, and she keeps no secrets.

She may lie, but she doesnt keep secrets 8D

*Brushes the dust off the thread*

Always did love this thread, and I'm very happy to bring it back. Even though I am most happy with my current girlfriend (:wiltshock: I'm as shocked as you are ) I can't help but admit I still got some major league toon crushes brewing.

A couple more recent ones:

Nadia (from Nadia secret of blue water)

I understand she's young and black and me being white, that might sound weird to say this but, I think she's beautiful. I think she's got a lovely voice and considering she's the star of one of the greatest anime series of all time (in my opinion), I'm not surprised I crush on her so much. Just wish she'd lighten up.

Mrs. Brisby (from Secret of NIMH)

I absolutely loved this movie to death and found Mrs. B to be absolutely adorable. I know she's a mouse but by GOD is she cute! Her voice was sweet, soft, polite, she's gentle and I just thought her character alone was one of the best highlights of the movie. Too bad her VA died making this her last role.

Yumi (from Hi, Hi Puffy Ami Yumi)

I didn't warm up to this show until much later on, which bums me out because I really started to like the show. I think Yumi is pretty damn hot for a punk girl. I love the color of her hair and hearing her curse/shout in Japanese is one of the things I love about the show. I think Ami is too "pretty in pink" and kinda nutty, call me odd but something about the "wild girl" in toons just sucks me in.

frankie_fan 06-10-2008 04:35 AM

*joins Mr. M in dusting off the thread*

I have some new favourites, but I'll give a more detailed version of my own first:

Sakura Kinomoto - Cardcaptor Sakura
My No.1 crush. I've yet to see the proper dub of this anime, but what I really LOVE about Sakura is that she's, in every way, wonderful. She knows when she's doing something wrong (even if it doesn't get to her first), always looks out for her friends, and always has the courage to get things done. And I'm gonna get laughed at for this, but I just can't help but smile and giggle everytime I see Sakura blush. It's just too damn adorable.

Frankie - Foster's
What more can I say? She's everything we love about her. Caring, young, kind, a heart of gold, hot... I could go on forever!

Raven - Teen Titans
Before she came along, Starfire was my favourite Titan, but it was when I saw the episode Nevermore that my mind immediatly changed. While she does seem like the person who's always angry (something I never liked), she somehow managed to shine a different light for me. After seeing a couple more Raven episodes, I knew that she would be my favourite on the show.

Blossom - The Powerpuff Girls
Sometimes, it's the look of the character that gets me drawn into them. Blossom is that character (for me anyway). She's someone who knows how to be a leader and a fighter, and can stay looking good at the same time. An example of this is the fight between her and Princess Morbucks from 'Stuck Up Up and Away'. I loved how when Morbucks shot a lazer at Blossom, Blossom just moves her neck an inch, and the lazer misses her. I like that kind of character.

Misty Waterflower - Pokemon
My first crush, and it's not hard to know why. She's like Frankie in that she's one of the nicest person I've come to know. But, what separates Misty from Frankie is that while Misty does get angry from time to time, she does it in a funny way that it doesn't seem like she's getting bashed, unlike Frankie in THAT episode! :frankiemad:

Jenny - My Life as a Teenage Robot
What I like about Jenny from this show (even though I've only seen a couple of episodes) is that she's someone who wants to do the things an average girl wants to do. But when she's needed for help, she can't help herself but defend her friends by being a great fighter. I like how she can mix both fighting and everyday life together, kinda like KP. (But she's another story)

Gwen - Ben 10
Despite the fact that she does tend to tell the same joke over 1000 times, she's still a winner in my book. She's the responsible know-it-all girl, and is willing to help out. She also doesn't have to look good to get my attention (although her cute look got me into her! 8D)

Ami - Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi
Now she's the cute factor. While I understand how she is a bit too much of 'pretty in pink', I still can't help but love her. She's fun, lovable, and looks to be a great person to hang out with.

Atomic Betty
Like Blossom, she's someone who can kick butt and look good at the same time. Nuff said! 8D

My new favourites:

Gadget Hackwrench - Rescue Rangers
I remember seeing this show from the 90s, but I wasn't all into crushes at the time. Upon recently seeing The Case of the Cola Cult and (in particular) Double O'Chipmunk on YouTube (and Mr. M, you'll agree with me when I say this), I can now see why Chip and Dale constantly go nuts over her.

Katara - Avatar: The Last Airbender
Again, I've only seen a couple of episodes of this show, and I am starting to get into it, but already Katara's shown me the kind of person she is. She's friendly, always looking out for her friends (like Sakura), and is a great fighter. Plus, the moment at the end of the episode 'Bato of the Water Tribe' when she kisses Aang was just too sweet for words. That just shows the kind of person Katara is.

Lydia Deetz - Beetlejuice
I may not remember seeing this show (if it DID air in Australia), but you gotta admit, she does look good with that red spiderweb dress on!

And that's all for the longest post I've ever done!

I didn't love the show but I did watch it once in a while because Ami was just so adorable. I didn't care for Yumi, though.

Drum roll please...

Frankie Foster!...But for reasons you might not expect.

In my opinion, to say her voice is beautiful like saying a Ferrari is fast (thank you, Grey Delisle). She's also relatively tall at 5' 10" according to her Coco card. Frankie appears to be a low maintenance person: little or no make-up usually, wears sneakers, and no painted nails (that I can see anyway). Her smile always makes me smile, and so does her warm personality.

I dunno...the shape of Frankie's legs has me wondering if she's eating enough. Maybe that's just a side effect of the show's art style. There were hints in the house photo episode that she thinks she's overweight when she is not.

Cassini90125 08-02-2008 07:44 PM

It's simply the way she's drawn, nothing more than that.

Hmm, she tells Coco that she wishes she wasn't so skinny, and it bothered her so much, she broke the scale in the bathroom to where it read 10 pounds heavier. Coco then regains her self image and runs off, and Frankie drops to the floor, mutters "Man, I wish that was true", and starts munching on the cookies Coco had just been munching on. I always understood that last line was referring to breaking the scale, not what she thinks of her weight. She wishes she could break the scale so it would read 10 pounds heavier because maybe it would help her feel better, but she could never do it (without possibly breaking the scale beyond all usefulness). But she stated that wish out loud simply for Coco's sake.

I dunno, maybe it's open ended for further discussion (and in the Frankie Discussion thread). But that's how I always saw it. I think Frankie thinks she's too skinny. :-/

Mr. Marshmallow 08-02-2008 11:14 PM

I never felt her design of Frankie's legs or body type was anything to do with weight but simply how the animation style ended up making her look. I mean, sometimes half the people in the show have weirdly shaped chins or jaws, and Madame Foster has feet that look like pointed pencil tips or something.

Speaking of beautiful voices (like Grey), I find Kathy Soucie's voice to be the most absolute beautiful of toon voices. I think its lovely, elegant, and sexy sounding at the same time and the reason I mention her is because she has played countless female toons, 4 of which are some of my BIGGEST crushes.

Princess Sally from Sonic the hedgehog, Pilot Jenny from Bucky O'hare, Lola Bunny from Space Jam, and (always my most favored favorite) Fifi La fume from Tiny Toon Adventures (of which I have the first season on DVD first day it came out thank you very much :berry:). Another toon crush I'd love to share comes from the show Chowder, although this is a more adorable/cuteness kinda deal.

Panini. She's this ridiculously SUPER damn cute little pink bunny and she's always got goo goo eyes for Chowder. I love her design and I think her romantic crazy advances on Chowder are hilarious, specially when he screams at her "I'm not your boyfriend!". I always look forward to whenever she's on the show. I think her voice is quite adorably cute to listen to too.

some guy you dont know 08-03-2008 12:16 AM

pretty much....

uhm.. well, any female character in an anime ive seen, more or less. one time or another, ive had a crush on her. :-[ i feel like one of those hopeless romantics about this at times.

Exactly what I mean. It's just Craig's style. And as we've seen, that style produces some wonderful results.

I spent the last 40 minutes or so rereading all 186 posts in this thread (187 now). Except for some uncalled-for hostility in the earliest pages there's a lot of warmth here; it makes for some very pleasant reading, and a very good feeling in one's heart. Funny how a bunch of hand-drawn lines and colored spaces can inspire all that.

Pawbah 08-05-2008 01:38 PM

So I was reading this thread and since most of the past few posts have been about Frankie and the way she's drawn etc. I had a very odd thought process. I thought, I don't think I've ever been attracted to any of Craig's characters. I'm not saying anythign bad about his style or whatever, I just have never had a crush on any of them. Then I began to think... well what if Frankie was a boy instead of a girl. Basically with the same personailty and everything, but was just a boy... or maybe if Frankie had a brother... Anyway, I was sitting here and I thought Frankie would actually make a cute boy. I mean... I love redheads... So... here's hoping Frankie's long lost brother suddenly appears.

Medikor 08-05-2008 05:13 PM

I feel a tad silly admitting this one (her being a robot and all) but, Arcee from the 80's Transformers series and movie. She's just such a sweetheart and I just want to give her a big hug.:D I love her G1 design because it reminds me of the retro design of humanoid robots. I also love her new design in the Animated series, I can't wait for a figure of this one.

Cassini90125 08-09-2008 09:44 PM

May as well officially add Ann from the second season of Sailor Moon to my list. I think she's very attractive and while she comes off as cold and hostile, not to mention arrogant, there's just something about her that draws me in. I don't know why and in real life I'd probably dislike her with great intensity, but still... who knows why the heart wants what it wants.

And Rikku, from Final Fantasy, she recently caught my eye, too. Just a name to me at present but I'll no doubt be reading up on her later.

Nathander 08-12-2008 11:37 PM

I've recently developed a crush on a cartoon character from a webcomic called Lackadaisy Cats named Ivy Pepper. Despite the fact that she's a cartoon cat, she's utterly adorable and attractive to me. She's kind, energetic, genuinely outgoing, and caring. She's also cute as a button.

http://www.lackadaisycats.com/gallery/1203882412.jpg

jekylljuice 08-13-2008 06:15 AM

Wow. You know, it just occurred to me that I've yet to say a single thing in this thread about Disco Bear, quite easily the most beautiful and endearing of the entire Happy Tree Friends ensemble, and the focus my most recently-developed cartoon crush (it's been three or four months now). As the name implies, he is indeed an ursine, but an utterly delectable one at that, and I find it damned near impossible to take my eyes off him. Here are some pictures by which to prove my point:

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/399...earsexyzv8.png

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/6...earhoseqv6.png

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/3288/discosunku4.png

In addition to being visually pleasing, DB also has a brilliant personality which I find to be very charming, complex and sympathetic. On the surface, he's quite a self-absorbed and narcissistic character, but his ego is very easily punctured nonetheless, and he strikes me as being a very lonely and unhappy character deep down. I want to hug him so much.

Mr. Marshmallow 08-13-2008 08:54 AM

Wow, thanks for the great explanations and pictures Nath, Jekyl. I'm so glad people on this board are giving this thread more posting and thought as I always felt I may have scared everyone off by talking too deeply into the subject 8D. But in any case, Ivy is actually quite cute Nathander, least I think so.

I particularly like her dresses in the images below and on the left of the colored version of her. Though the yellow eyes are a bit eerie. I was just watching "A goofy movie" on Toon Disney and reminded me of another Toon crush of mine, one I wish Disney had used more instead of limiting her to just this movie: Roxanne.

http://www.ultimatedisney.com/images...fymovie-10.jpg
http://i.pbase.com/u41/toxic_debora/...81723.gm11.jpg
http://www.goofyundmax.de/goofyfilm/...re_roxanne.jpg
http://fantasykat.com/ch/Images/rod/roxanne2.jpg

She plays the nervous girlfriend of Max, Goofy's son and I think she's just beautiful. I like the fact she is nervous and sincere despite the fact she is obviously very attractive, and she doesn't let it go to her head or turn snobby over it. She also twirls her hair in her fingers a lot and I find that to be VERY cute.

They made a goofy movie sequel and brought everyone back BUT Roxanne and that kind of irritated me cause like I said she makes almost no other appearances. Anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts on this toon crush of mine.

I've always enjoyed this thread for the most part. I like talking about and singing the praises of those who catch my eye, however briefly. It feels good to do that every now and then.

That Ivy is one cutie! I may have to look into that web comic.;)

Well I've finally gotten off my behind and made something really worth wild. After many days, I have completed my ultimate cartoon crush piece of work: A animated music video (my FIRST) I might add, dedicated to one of my biggest crushes, Fifi La Fume from Tiny Toon Adventures.

If you'll pardon my shameless plug, I'd love to know what you fellow toon crushers (and people in general) think of it:

Nicely done! Wish I could make videos like that; I've got the perfect subject for one or a hundred. :-*

Again, great job, dude.

Fifi's great and I'm glad to see that you've made an equally great video, Mr. M. I forgot how well she was animated in that summer special.

My cartoon crush would have to be
FLIK from a Bugs life. It was the voice I'm telling you. very nice voice for an ant with only 4 instead of 6 limbs.

I have to admit that, after watching a lot of Lucky Star, I have become quite fond of the lovelorn Nanako Kuroi. Like Frankie, I just feel bad for her and wish it were possible to let her know that someone is there for her. But she may find someone yet. I've only seen the first 12 episodes, after all.;)

Let me get my top-3 of lovable characters out... *ahem*

(please keep in mind that I don't actually call them my 'crushes'. They are just my fave characters)

Eduardo, Spydah (A.T.O.M.) and Starscream (Transformers)

And when I figured out that all three voices are being done by one man, I simply developed a crush on Tom Kenny!

I take it you mean the new Animated series? Good gravy Marie... Now I'm going to see Starscream and think of Eduardo or vise versa. (Knowing me, this would make me start laughing my duff off in the middle Starscream's villanous monologue, which as Bumblebee learned, is never a good idea! ;D)

Hmm... Well, here are all the cartoon characters I've crushed on in the past... meh, let's call it year:

~ Zoc, from The Ant Bully (I think it was a combination of his eyes and Nicholas Cage's voice acting.)

~ Prowl, from Transformers: Animated (The crush of the hour. ;P I have no idea why, either. Fun fact: Prowl's VA, Jeff Bennett, also played Bendy. Watching "Everyone Knows It's Bendy" suddenly took on a new, much more entertaining meaning-- I kept thinking of a ninjabot! x3)

Huh, that's all I have at the moment... weird, I was expecting a War and Peace-length post. :weirded:

When I was younger I had this insanely huge crush on Ash from Pokemon. Now-a-days I like someone completely differnet, can't tell y'all who it is cause its been a secret for over a year now. And you guys will probley think I'm weird (strange) if you's haven't already thought that yet.
