I know that a lot of people, when queried what their favourite movie is, will go for which ever picture they see as being the greatest and most impressive piece of film-making of all time. I personally always say the Hudsucker Proxy because it's the movie which genuinely makes me laugh and smile more than any other. That sequence charting the production and subsequent sales of the Hula Hoop never gets old. And Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Paul Newman are all great in it. God, such a wonderful film. A real pity it never got the critical or financial recognition it deserved.

Also high on my favourites list are the Back to the Future trilogy and Ghost World (a wonderful film that's probably a heck of a lot closer to my own life right now than I'd like to acknowledge). And Michael Wadleigh's documentary of Woodstock, of course. That three and a half hours worth of film he shot and compiled is probably the closest I'll ever get to being at the legendary concert myself without the aid of a time-travelling Delorean, so hats off to him.

CAUTION: REALLY BORING

I hate answering this question, because I'd love the answer to be something really weird and eclectic that no-one else has ever seen (thereby validating my status as a special and wonderfully unique person, just like my mummy always told me); unfortunately, the truthful answer is Star Wars, which is just about the most boring choice in the world. :P I have the same problem with videogames, where my favourtie is Zelda: Ocarina of Time. ::) I guess I'm just a big walking cliché.

To confirm this, here, in no particular order, is my extended list of largely dull and intensely conventional movie picks.

Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi
The Indiana Jones series
The Incredibles
Toy Story 1 and 2
Finding Nemo
The Iron Giant
The Big Lebowski
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Powerpuff Girls Movie
The Prestige
Pulp Fiction
Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Alien
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
This Is Spinal Tap
Casablanca
Fargo
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Silence of the Lambs
Team America: World Police

Ugh...that was even more boring than I thought it would be. :( Honorable mentions also go to Cars, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Aladdin, Hercules, Flushed Away, Memento and Hannibal, which I particularly cling to, because I think I'm the only person in the world who actually likes it. See, I am special - my mummy was right! :bloocross:
