"You the tall skinny one... and I'm the fat one. It's okay, I know I'm fat! You gotta love who you are..."

LOL

I loved this episode, and here's why...

"Mr. Khones, did you make the sandwhich?"
"Nope."
"Did some one make the sandwhich for you?"
"Nope."
"Did you eat the other half of the sandwhich?"
"Nope."
"Wha- Then how is it your sandwhich?"
"I wrote my name on it."
"You wrote your name on it?"
"In mustard"
"Wilt, you're my lawyer, do something!"
"Uh... Objection?!"
"Objection? On what grounds?!"
"Uhhh, I don't know. I'm sorry..."

Oh yeah, and...

"I feel like celebrating! Who's up for sandwhiches? You? You?"
"Are you insane?"
"You? I know not you."
"Coco."
"Alright. Anyone else? Anyone?"
"How can you guys be thinking about food at a time like this?!"
"I could go for a sandwhich."
"Alright. Anyone else? No? Okay."
"We can sound the siren the whole way there!"

Oh, that is SO a Mario & Luigi reference, Mario is the fat one, and Luigi is that taller, skinny one. And the "We're like a team" thing pretty much goes with it too. Ed even called Wilt his "bro". XDD

Don't worry, I found out the problem, the renaming of the file screwed it up somehow. I redownloaded it without renaming it and it works better.

Ccook50 05-05-2007 10:04 AM

There was no real payoff to the conclusion. When asked why Cheese went around shouting "Gottagogottagogottago" all episode, all Louise could say was "that's what he does." All the potential explanation/punch lines were used up early.

Mario and Luigi are neither the only nor the first fat guy/tall skinny guy team.

It's a common cliche, and a funny one.

Ed was supposed to sound like Cheech Marin from the old Cheech and Chong movies and comedy routines, though he actually came off more like the two of them combined. Their whole routine was based on getting high on weed, though I've seen enough people stoned on whatever sedatives they got at the dentist office, too, to know that there's not much difference! Anyone see the episode of "American Chopper" when Mikey had to go to the dentist and they had to knock him out like Eduardo? He pretty much was acting the same way when they got back to the shop with him!

I believe that the comment Ed made to Wilt about him being the tall, skinny one and Ed being the fat one was sort of a reference to the comedy team of Laurel and Hardy, which consisted of a tall, skinny guy and a fat guy, although in that team, their personalities were almost the opposite of Wilt and Ed's.

Definitely a lot of mixed reviews here. I'm going to have to be one of those that approved Cheese A Go-Go. I don't believe this is as strong of a season debut as Season Four's premiere of "Challenge of the Superfriends" by any means, but I believe that CAGG is still a fun episode. Ed's behavior was hilarious in this one, and it was one of my favorite points in the episode. I also liked the whole court angle between Jackie Khones and Madame F. Jackie owns in this one. :jk: I didn't believe Cheese was as annoying as he could easily have been (though the "gotta go, gotta go..." was a bit much  ). If Goo were in this episode, I think it would've been worse. There's one bright spot there.

I give it a 9.0.

fosters-fan 05-05-2007 01:13 PM

You know..... I liked this episode a lot, too! ^_^

But I don't know how Eduardo lost his tooth. My guess is in a baseball game. Anyways, the episode was so hilarious! With everything, but especially Eduardo acting like he's high! Yes; I agree on that part, everyone! 8D

However, the one thing I least expected was Eduardo to lose his belt, thus resulting in his pants falling down! How embarrassing of him not to find that embarrassing till the end! :-[

Despite all of that, this episode...... gets a five outta five from me! And if you're out there, Eduardo......... you know it's all muscle on ya, and not fat (referring to the very end of the episode)! ;)

Goo in this episode would have been serious overkill.

I can't even think of how she would fit in to any of the multiple plot lines...

fosters home fan 05-05-2007 05:26 PM

eh, I just lost "interest" in watching this episode. I thought cheese was at least going to say a few different lines, but I guess not :\ Also, there really wasn't a plot to this episode, at all. I mean what was up with the "hippy in drag" and other pointless characters?! I thought this episode was going to be about Bloo thinking cheese is an alien, not "mindless insanity" for 20 or so minutes. I'm also confused as to why Wilt didn't smile once in this episode. Is he going emo or something?! But then again, I wouldn't be smiling if I had to be in "mindless insanity" I pretty much watched about 18 minutes straight of the episode, then I kinda just realised where this episode was going (ie, nothing much more than "mindless insanity") I am to only bluntly assume that this episode was made for the "cheese fans who like watching nonsense".

Anyways, my rating.............meh. Somewhere around 4.3/10 to 6.1/10 And that's my "review".

Mr. Marshmallow 05-05-2007 05:41 PM

Okay I FINALLY got around to seeing this, I missed it's initial run because of an error on my timer VCR since i was seeing Spider man 3 at the time it was airing. Anyways, I avoided looking at people's reviews of this episode so I could see it "untainted" if you will and I finally came down to a review for this episode.

I have to be honest, I liked it. The fact that it was mindless fun is probably why I did enjoy it, they used so many random locations, and set ups all around that it kept things interesting and as shocking as it may be, hearing Cheese say "gotta go" a billion times was rather catchy then annoying.

Eduardo and Khones were absolutely hilarious, I love how Khones got such a large role and was actually praising this sandwich victory over Madame Foster. Eduardo though was the prize, his toothless, pot smoking persona just made it so easy to enjoy, especially how he spoke so accurately about all the characters.

Like Mac "hey, you so serious, lighten up" or how he said Bloo was mean but is a good guy on the inside. I also loved the part where the lady actually thought her brain was being sucked. Louise was kinda cute this time around and it was nice to see her again (anyone else thinks she looks like a toddler version of Frankie?)

Now for the cons: the whole alien/"gotta go" discovery was pretty pointless. There was no ACTUAL alien use in here other then a 5 second plot device, which sported an ending that actually seemed like what you'd see in one of the Foster's shorts. The fact Cheese wasn't going anywhere wasn't really funny.

Had they maybe used the ending of this episode to say branch off and continue this alien concept, it would have been interesting to have a kind of alien/cheese/mystery story arc thing going. And of course the thing that bugged me the most, 3 little words: poor, poor Frankie :'(.

I was fine with everything until I saw her climbing up the hill top. Seeing her legs scraped up with blood and on the verge of tears when she left Louise's after getting the phone call was hurtful. In fact, and I NEVER thought this was possible, this is even sadder then the scrubbing scene Frankie went through in "Imposter's".

Frankie was yelled at by everyone, and I felt so bad for her at the post office because she sounded so cute asking for the stamps and apologize for every little change. And don't ask me why but Frankie looked downright SWEET with the butter on her :-X again don't ask me why, I just think she looked good in it.

So in conclusion, I give "Cheese a Go-go" about a C+. This was a decent new season episode, not a SOLID or amazing or crappy season opener, but decent. It had plenty of mindless fun and using characters in different lights (Jackie and Eduardo) kept things amusing and still silly and entertaining at the same time.

But the poor treatment Frankie went through made me feel how Frankie looked: like roadkill. The possum alone is a sign of it (a funny one though). And the whole "alien" tie in seems like a down right stupid and cheap tie in to an unnecessary special promo about this whole "Invaded" thing. All in all, a decent episode.

That reminds me, when I saw that I thought for sure they were going to try for some kind of Close Encounters of the Third Kind homage, since in that movie they're scrambling up a hill to see the alien spaceship. I was very surprised when they kind of let that drop. (I agree, Frankie got put thru the wringer this ep.)

I think it's supposed to be some type of irony thing. :/ I dunno.

Mr. Marshmallow 05-05-2007 06:30 PM

You know what the really sad thing is? Frankie got into this mess by helping someone, Cheese. She took the time to stop the bus and pick him up because she was worried he might get hurt running around screaming on his own.

It bothers me that she actually did, in retrospect, the RIGHT thing by trying to help someone and instead, she gets hammered and torn apart by the movie theater people, the doctors, the post office people, etc.

You know there's a reason chivalry is dead, it's because the decent, honest people who go out of their way to help people get trampled on so much they end up killing themselves :terrence:.

Sorry, little over dramatic I know.

Over dramatic? Eh, I don't know. It's true what you said about chivalry though, which doesn't say much about today's society. :P

That may be why Frankie's bad day isn't bothering me as much as it otherwise might. It wasn't directed at her personally; it's just how people are, and it was spread out over more than one encounter. Goofball's actions were a lot more personal and uncaring. True, she had a bad day in CAGG, but I think from her point of view it was likely more exaspirating than upsetting, whereas the reverse was the case in Imposter's. After she got back to Foster's, I like to think she soaked in a hot tub for an hour or two, went to bed, and forgot all about Cheese.

taranchula 05-05-2007 07:21 PM

Ahhhh Spring, The sun is shining, the grass is that perfect shade of green, the leaves are starting to bud and Foster's is back on the tube.

This episode was indeed pure 100% grade A USDA randomness, the best kind of randomness there is. So many jokes flying at me I thought my head was going to spin, thankfully the jokes we got worked so well. Strung out Ed, Madam Foster's courtroom hijinks (Complete with "Phoenix Wilt: Attorney at Law"), Jackie Khones Jackie Khones and Jackie Khones (Man for a little guy he sure can hit.), Bloo being Bloo and Frankie Foster and the no good horrible day part 33 and a 1/3, just to name a few.

Not the best episode ever, but it was certainly good enough to keep me entertained for 22 minuets and really I couldn't ask for anything more.

Ditchy McAbandonpants 05-05-2007 07:28 PM

I think the other important difference between this one and "Imposter's..." is that it wasn't only one character getting dumped on this time, so the abuse didn't feel personal or vindictive. In this kind of "lunatics-take-over-the-asylum" situation, all of the "straight man" characters are inevitably going to have a rough time of it; as such, not just Frankie but Mac and Wilt also were consigned to spending the episode chasing frantically after their errant companions, taking more than a few knocks on the way.

I'm a fan of the straight characters, so this isn't my personal favourite type of episode (I didn't really like the similar Partying Is Such Sweet Soiree or Camp Keep A Good Mac Down either), but I'm happy to accept that being marginalised by (and taking a few lumps for) the zanier characters is part and parcel of their role on the show, so I'm fine with it.

Sparky 05-05-2007 08:26 PM

You guys, I don't watch Powerpuff Girls...is it true that the observatory in this ep looks like Mojo Jojo's lair? Someone said as much on another forum. Doesn't make it *true*, so I was just wondering.

Mr. Marshmallow 05-05-2007 08:32 PM

I think the thing that ended up bothering me was more of the type of crap that Frankie was being put through. "Imposter's" relied mainly on emotional and personal abuse, Frankie was more emotionally stressed out more then anything.

Normally physical is something i write off as common visuals in a cartoon, but it just seemed so much painful when Frankie was climbing up the hill. Maybe it was the blood which I have to say, I am VERY very surprised they showed that.

Be it gushing or small drops, the fact a non violent show like Foster's actually had that kind of, if you pardon the pun, "flesh" to it's visuals was very surprising. I also was upset that this continued the whole bad public image thing.

Here, Frankie was chewed up by everyone and their mother in town. Mac and the others did have their own crap to pull with, except Frankie will still probably end up getting stuck with doctor bills, damage fees and other stuff like that.

In a way though I also admire Frankie, most people would quit any job after going through a day like that. I didn't hate this episode, as I said i really did have fun watching it, it's one of those "turn off your brain" mindless fun episodes.

I just can't help feeling for Frankie though, must be my nature.

Ccook50 05-05-2007 09:50 PM

Frankie is the overworked and underappreciated in all of us.

From what I remember Mojo Jojo's lair looked like an observatory and it had these steps that lead up to it. I don't think it was all white though. You could say that it looks like his lair, but then you could say any observatory looks like his lair.

Ub3rD4n 05-06-2007 01:33 AM

Before I start, I don't know how to do spoiler warnings, but if you don't want spooilers and haven't seen the episode yet, DON'T READ THIS THREAD!

Wow. Looking at the other posts I gotta ask, were we watching the SAME episode? Maybe I watched a different, funnier version to you guys. Yeah, you heard me, I think the episode was brilliant. It didn't NEED any plot other than Frankie and Madame Foster's stressful day. Yeah, i did feeel bad for Frankie 'cause I can SO relate to that. i didin't mind the hill-climbing scene at all, cause after all she'd been through, a simple hill isn't gonna make much difference.

Cheese fans were probably dissappointed, cause Cheese is capable of much more intelligent conversation than that uttered in this episode. I think they used him pretty well, but that's probably cause I can't much stand him for too long.

Jackie was brilliant. We finally got to see what kind of personality he has, and truth be told, it's a bit like Bloo's. I thought the Fosters crew were gonna keep him as a bit character with one liners forever, but I'm not unhappy that they didn't.

Eduardo's performance no longer needs detailing. Just read the other posts.

As for Wilt, you people are putting him too much on a pedestal. he's not superhuman, he's NEAR superhuman, and he can be unhappy at times. If you were in the middle of all that, would YOU be smiling?

Also, he was reading "The Blockhead's guide to defence law". The Blockhead's guide is quite a prolific brand, we've seen it on at least two other episodes to date (Berry Scary and Hiccy-Burps). I just like those random past-episode references, like Dylan, trying not to be seen.

All in all, I think it went together great. Yes, I agree it was more random than most Fosters episodes, but suffered not for it. I think it was well worth the wait.

Oh, BTW, I think that CAGG is not the official season premiere, but just part of the CN promo going on right now. The episode they show you next will be the one the Fosters crew want us to see first. I'd like to see the opening title shot for it, too.

Shany 05-06-2007 03:31 AM

It was a pretty average epsiode. I don't think Bloo got enough screen time (and I don't even like Bloo that much).
For this episode to work it needed to have much more of Bloo's craziness.
At least he had some good lines, like near the end:"You know not what you are doing woman! You're dooming us all!"

I have to say, this show likes to abuse it's characters. Poor Frankie, I really hope she'll get to beat Bloo up at least once, seeing as he's usually the cause of her trouble.

Jackie and Madam Foster in court just didn't work for me. I hated Madam Foster's 'sucking up to the judge' because it took too long and wasn't funny.
I did like her yelling "Khones!" every time she got mad at Jackie.
Wilt as a lawyer was funny, even if it was very very short.

I liked Ed's performance, but it seemed to drag for a bit too long.
What he said to Bloo made me luagh. Totally what people are thinking about Bloo - not liking him because he's selfish, forgiving him because he's not aware of it like a kid, and finding him funny.

Bloo2daMacs 05-06-2007 05:53 AM

Another thing I forgot to mention about this episode is the appearence of TONS of people from old episodes. I saw Dylan, That one guy that got arrested in GWH, the "hitchhiker" for Bus The Two of Us, and a whole bunch of other people randomly thrown throughout other episodes. THAT is a nice touch to start off a new season.

Your nature and mine, dude. I hadn't thought about the "public image" aspect of the whole thing, but it's a good point. Things like the events here and in Store Wars, for example, can add up in people's minds and give her an undeserved reputation as a public nuisance.

The scene on the hill was painful, yes, but on the other hand it showed her determined nature and fighting spirit, an "I'm getting to the top and nothing's going to stop me" attitude. And despite being battered and bruised she did make it to the top, which may be a small victory but it's a victory nonetheless and a reason to smile.

...Is it me or does the kid that high-on-funny-gas Ed talks to in the dentist's office look like the boy from My Gym Partner's a Monkey?

Screencap for reference

Ccook50 05-06-2007 09:08 AM

No, he doesn't. Adam Lyon (the kid on Gym Partner) is short and dumpy, his eyes are smaller and has nowhere near as much hair as that kid in the screenshot does.

*claps like a million times* The fact that he DOESN'T smile even once, doesn't bug me at all, besides, SO WHAT? Everyone has their bad days, and there HAS to be times where there's nothing to smile about. Just like Frankie, Wilt also had a pretty much screwed up day as well.

Why would whether or not Wilt smiles matter? It's not like he's going emo, if he was though, next episode he'd have the total "goth" look. Only it'd be age appropriate for the show.

Don't worry about it; I'm sure he'll smile next episode. 'Kay?

I just saw this episode today on Teletoon! This was a pleasant surprise because I never expected them to have it this soon.
I thought the episode was great from start to finish. It really reminded me of "Crime After Crime" the way one thing lead to another. And I was very pleased to see Frankie have such a prominent role. I really didn't expect her to be a major player in another Cheese episode after "The Big Cheese".
I also want to say that I was really, really impressed with the image of this episode. It was very crisp and clean and featured some new fluid and lively animations, mostly from, Frankie. All in all I am very happy with this episode and can't wait to see the rest of the season. :D
