Just watched The Iron Giant on DVD, and...wow. Seriously. Not only is it one of the most beautiful 2D animated films I've ever seen, it's also a sophisticated, emotional and absolutely superb piece of storytelling. Brad Bird is surely some kind of genius...I know we're all animation fans here, so I have no hesitation in recommending absolutely everybody to check this film out right now. :)

Superman: The Movie. Been meaning to watch this again since seeing Superman Returns (which I loved...so sue me :P ).
A bit slow, a bit cheesy in places, but overall it's held up really well. I preferred Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor to Gene Hackman's - Hackman's was played almost totally for laughs, with the wigs and moron sidekicks, whilst Spacey's had some real threat to him. But Christopher Reeve is awesome; as Superman, he makes being wholesome seem like the coolest thing in the world, but still convincingly makes Clark Kent an adorably clumsy nerd. :) Anywho, this is the last post I'll be making for a while. There's a six-week holiday for Spring Festival here in China, so Ditchy's tourin' China until March! Hopefully there'll be some new Foster's to discuss by the time I get back...bye, all! |
