It's entirely possible that she goes out, be it on a date or with Kathy or other friends, more than we're aware of. However, we don't see that because it doesn't make for interesting episodes. I agree that she's lonely, yeah, but perhaps not quite as much as we might think.
On the subject of Wilt and the prom, if I see a fight or anything like a fight developing in here on that subject, I will lock this thread until everybody calms down, and this is the only warning I'm going to give. Scream about it via PM if you must. Got it? :frankiemad: |
you know I like to joke about Wilt fan girls. I should keep my mouth shut from now on.
It depends on what you mean by lonely Marsh, lonely with a relationship or plain lonely. Plain lonely is not the case she has Kathy & probably more friends. I haven't seen the DVD yet so I don't know what she said but lonely with a relationship is probably the case. But who says the commentaries are canon? |
Canon is a tricky thing. It's a consensus of both fans and creators. But that definitely seems like a question to ask the creators.
I would say it's canon at best, fanon at least. |
I for one believe it to be true simply because, this isn't the first time this sort of thing has come up. Frankie has slim to zero outside connections to the world outside of her grand mother. Mac, Madame Foster, Wilt and others have all shown connections to other people in the rest of the world.
Be it friends, enemies, family, they all have someone. Frankie has no one. Her friend Kathy (who remains invisible) is the only sign Frankie has anyone outside of Foster's. But Frankie never has any visitors, she never gets any letters, and she is always working at a very much thankless job. Frankie seemed to be walking on air after she met Dylan, and even though he turned to be an ass, I don't think Frankie has ever been that happy in the shows entirety. I think Frankie is lonely in the general basic sense. She really doesn't have anyone to tell her troubles to or confide anything personal to. Madame Foster isn't much of a confided source, Frankie barely was able to hold much of coherent conversation with her in "Setting a president". I believe the commentary because Frankie does seem lonely. Her job gives off that image as well. She does nothing but clean, cook, and care with little thanks. Frankie doesn't have even a companion to console with outside of Mac, and she usually is with Mac when she needs his help unwinding the current "problem of the day". That's not to say she dislikes Mac, we all know she likes him, but I do think Frankie feels lonely and in need of emotional attention. I think Frankie is lonely in the areas of love and just the general sense, I don't think she feels appreciated sometimes, about her work or her appearance. Even her funny little "I'm punk rock" line from Bendy's episode. It was funny, but it also showed Frankie's sense of having to validate her own values. Frankie didn't even have anyone she could talk to about Goofball in that episode of all most which don't speak of. That's why I don't find her words on the commentary to be that far from the truth, and why she really does need someone in one way or another. |
I've noticed that as well. Frankie is almost like the ignored member of the Foster's "family". Madame Foster and Mr. Herriman get all the glamour and atttention while Frankie gets breadcrumbs at best. And the "punk rock" bit could possibly indicate that she has some painful insecurities hidden inside.
I'd also like to point out that while Frankie has Kathy and other outside friends, she has little-to-none time to interact with them in person due to the nature of her job. Mac, Goo, Madame Foster and all the IFs have plenty of free time by comparison and thus are able to form consistent outside relationships; Frankie doesn't have that luxury at all. And, like Mr. M said, she's NEVER gotten any visitors in the series so far(except for Dylan). After reading Mr. M's last few posts, I'm convinced more than ever that they should highlight some sort of bond between her and Mac; to give Frankie some sort of recurring partner and friend throughout the series. I'm still waiting for the episode in which they unite and save the day. |
Sorry guys,
But this Frankie fan has been extremely busy. I have been working on remodeling my house, and I am recording some of my blues tunes. I apologize to all fellow Frankie fans that I have been outta da loop! |

Of course, we haven' t even seen any parts of Franklie's social life besides "FMD". So we won't know for sure until an episode has a bit of this. I personally think Frankie atleast has more friends than Kathy. That's just how I want my characters to be, all happy. Well..... except that elephant nosed jerk & that 'I'm so cool I wear brief' dude & the "I destroy everything & blame it on people' IF. :P |
I think the lack of any real background on Frankie is just due to the same reason as Madam Foster and Mr.Harraman: They don't know how they want to tell their storys quite yet and want to hold off on them so they don't disapoint. Who knows, maybe they're aware of the backlash that resulted from Imposters and don't want to make the same mistake twice?
I say give it time. I'm sure that we'll see some great things for Frankie in the future. On a side note: I stumbled upon a top ten toon girl list on Retrojunk. Frankie is #7 out of ten. :) http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgur...3Doff%26sa%3DN |
There's one more thing to give Frankie credit for: putting up with a certain ******* named Blooregard Q. Kazoo, over a chauvinist like Dylan. Heck, she regards Bloo as one of her friends where she has managed to get sick of Dylan. 8-)
At the very least, she wouldn't have lousy double standards about the "he may be a (whatever) but he's my (same whatever)" logic. Really, plenty of girls out there have that damn logic but only as a sad excuse to desire chavinists. WTF? |

And I'm glad to see Frankie in that "cartoon girls" list... even though she's #1 to me. :-* |
Quote:
Seriously though, I appreciate others supporting cartoon girl love but this list to me just really is off taste. But that's just me. |
Other than Frankie, I have no idea who most of those girls are. No Daphne Blake? No Lita Kino? Sorry, but without those two, no top 10 list of animated ladies is complete, at least as far as I'm concerned.
|
I am 100% in agreement with Faye, that Lust chick (whoever she is ??? ), the E-surance chick, and Frankie, but the rest either i don't know and totally don't interest me, or are total WTF answers. Birdgirl? COME ON! Freakin' Ryoko from Tenchi isn't even on there.
(Don't badmouth me about Tenchi, bros, i watched it as a filler between giant-robots-killing-each-other shows) |

But that list... Haruko Haruhara is hardly one of anime's most attractive girls (which is difficult in anime, where most girls are pretty much equally attractive), and.... the Esurance chick? Huh? |
I like the Esurance girl, but only when she has glasses and brown hair.
Yes, I'm riding on looks alone. She doesn't really have much personality, so that's all I have to go on. I mean she forgets who that one guy is on a consistent basis. |
Glad you guys found the link interesting. I think Frankie being #7 on that list is a huge accomplisment when you look at the exagerated beuty of the ladies that scored higher.
|
Haruko is nice but it's really hard to argue with Faye Valentine, on that I definitely agree with. But Cass is right, where the hell is Sailor Jupiter, or for that matter ANY of the scouts? What about Lola Bunny or Minerva Mink?
This is a pretty piss poor list, the e-surance girl isn't too bad though I can't comprehend how this selection of girls made the list when there's so much, much, MUCH more attractive and lovely looking animated girls out there. Amy Wong from Futurama's nice, Misty from Pokemon, oh and also I definitely agree on Black Canary on JS: Unlimited. They have some FINE females on that show. Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Hawkgirl, the very lovely Huntress. But back on topic, Medikor is right, the fact Frankie is on this mixed up list is a huge leap for her character and it shows that her fandom certainly exists elsewhere outside of this board. |
The article states clearly that it's a list of characters from the years 2000-2007, aka this decade alone. That is why you don't see Daphne or the Sailor Moon girls or Lola Bunny or any other characters that were from PREVIOUS decades. I haven't checked the site yet, but from the looks of it, I'm fairly sure there are "top cartoon girls" lists for previous decades. It also states that it's a list of characters who are of "legal" age; hence why there are no characters from Kim Possible or Teen Titans.
Aside from Frankie, I'm not really familiar with the listed characters or the shows they are from, but I can see the appeal most of them have. Faye and Haruko don't surprise me seeing their huge fanbases. There are a few characters I'm surprised weren't listed(any of the girls from Drawn Together), but I'm just glad that Frankie made the list. Maybe next, we'll see Frankie in a "top cartoon girls" list from IGN or UGO...? And I apologize for the mini-tangent, but please don't forget that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Disagreeing is fine, but I feel personally bothered by statements such as "How could anyone feel any attraction to so-and-so". I'd like it if we could get back to praising our beloved redhead girl, instead of bashing and criticizing other girls. |
The only chick that deserved that list was Frankie. Nice to see her & Foster's getting recongnized.
|
Oh no, I wasn't at all intending to criticize other people's tastes in animated women, I just meant the list seemed a tad confusing compared to the general web talk of favored animated girls that I've heard.
And like I also said, this is a big step for Frankie and it's showing she's certainly getting some attention. I think this and especially the comic book with her "evil twin" is showing her character is at least getting some kind of attention. I also think it's funny that a young kid imagined someone like Frankie in regards to the comic book, in a way, it shows that Frankie IS being seen as an attractive figure even to younger people. This isn't by any means an exact science I just thought it was interesting and something worth pointing out. |
Because when the guys DO accept them for what they are, someone dumps pig's blood on them during the prom, and they murder everybody with telekinetic powers.
Those poor girls. |
Well I don't think anyone's going to do that to Frankie anytime soon. And if even they did, psychic powers or not, Frankie would make sure there'd be HELL to pay. And on a semi-unrelated note I just wanted to point something out.
This is my one THOUSANDTH post and I purposely saved it right here, in my favorite thread for my favorite character, the lovely Frankie foster :D. Proof that I just can't shut up about her. Here's hoping for a 1000 more, if that's even possible. |

Here's hoping another 1000 won't let you shut up about her at all!

And when can we expect this video? I'm sure it would great. I still can't get over how wonderful Isanefan's was.
|
He already posted it on the Other Fan Creations thread. It consists of still images instead of video clips(Mr. M says he doesn't have the equipment to do clips), but I still thought it was great.
So, uh... Season 5 begins on May 4th... I know this has been discussed here before, but now that we finally have a date, does anyone else want to share their specific hopes or expectations for Frankie's potential roles in the upcoming new episodes? I'm hoping she'll be prominent like she was in Seasons 1 and 4. |

I'd like to learn more about her life, both past and present, but honestly as long as she gets an episode or two of her own this season I'll be happy.
|
Frankie's episodes sadly are few and here's hoping that at least ONE will be about her and more so about her being the focus like "Setting a president", rather then her taking a back seat to Bloo or someone else. However, if that's all we can get I'll be happy.
One thing I've noticed is that while Frankie's center episodes may be very few, she does get alot of good co-star points for episodes. "The Big Cheese", "Store Wars", "World wide wabbit", "Busted", "Bus the two of us" "Bloooo" etc. She plays off other characters well, and she gives out some great moments. I'm hoping that if Frankie can't be the star of an episode, she can still take an active role in others. I especially would LOVE to see an episode with her and Mac being the ONLY focus, like they get stuck in a desert and gotta walk back home or something. I really think those two have a underused relationship. |
I'm with Cassini, but my main hope is that we don't get any controversial Frankie episodes like we have before.

It all depends on who you are, I guess. I enjoyed the episode. I thought it was funny at parts. I say don't completly throw away the option of seeing it. I honestly think that it's no worse then "Fosters go'es to Europe. But this in no way means that I support Frankie bashing episodes.;)
|
7:30 tonight, FMD is on. Just a heads up.
|
I have a good feeling we'll see Frankie have a good-sized role in most of the episodes in season 5. Including one she'll star in. Look at it this way, every season except 1 had one that she starred in. Season 2 had FMD, Season 3 had the Horrid Episode & Setting A President, Season 4 had "The Big Cheese".
