You're right, it's not hard to do. Hollywood is a skanky, skanky place.
I'm a girl, so no crush here, but I DO think Frankie is very pretty and would be a blast to meet. |

I too would like to meet Frankie.

I agree, most of Hollywood women don't match up to the looks of Frances Foster, even though she's a fictional character. :-*
|
I think this all verges on tastes once more. People find the strangest things and the strangest characters attractive. Just like you guys are saying Hollywood's hotties aren't attractive to you, the same can be said to others bout animated hotties.
I'm not knocking em I'm just saying it's all a matter of what is attractive to who and what not. I myself admit my liking for animated girls is a tad bit stronger, there's a few RL girls that I find drop dead goregous that do exist in the land of Hollywood though. But I think animated girls can be just as beautiful and as interesting to know (if we ever could get to know em) as Hollywood's girls. Of all the animated females I could meet, and date ;) if I could that is. My top 5 would be, in this order: 1. Lita/Sailor Jupiter (Sailor Moon) 2. Frankie Foster (Foster's) 3. Misty (Pokemon) 4. Mahoro (Mahoromatic) 5. Bunnie Rabbot (Sonic the Hedgehog) |
I think Mr. Marshmellow was able to say what I would not be able to put in such fine words.
|
Quite well said. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, after all. The are some very beautiful women in Hollywood, but for the most part there's no one out there I would care to have a relationship with. Given a choice, I'd pick a cartoon or a Sim every time.

That's why I love voice actors over "real" celebrity's. They are real people and infinetly more interesting them all the Tom Cruse's and Nichole Kidman's out there.
Animated characters have this appeal to people. Be it something as shallow as them haveing perfect bodies that can only be obtained from an animation cell, or the character of the character itself. So much love and care is put into so many wonderful characters that it's hard not to become attached, or even attracted, to them. I don't let my friends or family know about my cartoon crushes because they would be quick to riddicule me. The most common responce you get is "Dude, their cartoons!" and then you're told you need to get out more.:jk: Granted, some people can take a cartoon crush a little too far... |

I actually feel odd at having had more infatuations with animated characters than the Hollywood hunks out there. Orlando Bloom? I have absolutely no clue as to why so many girls adore that man, nor I do find anything particularly attractive about him (or any other male Hollywood icon for that matter). I'll pick Randall Boggs over an army of red carpet-strutting "hunks" any day. ;) |

I never bring the subject up myself, but I won't deny my feelings for Frankie if anyone asks. I don't really care what other people think about it.
|
But why is a crush on a cartoon character so different from a crush on a celebrity? They're both pretty much equally unattainable and, quite often, equally real.
|
Other people will argue time-in and time-out that having a crush on a cartoon character is stupid because a cartoon character isn't real. They'll say that a celebrity, at least, is a real, living, human being.
|
A celebrity is actually obtainable it's just extremely unlikely due to location, money, job, positions, and all that kind of stuff. You do have a better chance of hooking up with a celeb then a toon simply because of the logic of the matter.
I'm not knocking toon girls, I'm just answering the question posed honestly. Toons are not real, there drawn, voiced, written, and created by other people for a means of some kind of emotional, mental, or social based entertainment. You can't hook up with someone or something that isn't real or exists on paper. It's a fantasy and it's a harsh truth but that in fact is where the beauty of a toon crush lies: it's just a fantasy and it can't ever be denied. Liking toons or thinking of them as real people isn't "wrong" or "sick" either because that's the POINT of TV shows and movies. You watch them because you are trying to associate them as real life characters, to connect with them. Connections can lead to crushes as much as anything else can. |

As for lusting after animated characters, I find my own infatuations odd not because they're "cartoons", but rather because hardly any of them are actually human. :p I see fangirls going nuts over pretty-faced anime males, like Sessoumaru from Inuyasha (just an example right off the top of my head). To me, that is almost like an animated version of a celebrity heartthrob. People are more likely to understand, accept, and even concur with the idea of having that little fantasy with a handsome human/human look-alike character. |
Another great thing about toon characters is that they almost never pretend to be something they're not. They don't often play actor, so you see the character for who they really are.

Judge Doom pretended to BE human when was actually a toon in "Rodger Rabbit?". Cartoons may be able to do things that are out of this world, but like I said before, you'd be amazed at how similar they are to us. |

I agree very much with kageri.
I must be honest, I don't believe that "all toon girls rock and all Hollywood girls suck". There have been plenty of animated female characters that are as shallow and vapid as the worst Hollywood has to offer. Some of these are intentional stereotypes that are used for satirical purposes, but others are the result of unoriginal and cliched efforts by the creators involved. But again, it's very much true that we get to see their real lives, which perhaps explain why some here are so strong in their "toon > 'wood" belief. And since you guys just had to bring up THAT episode of Foster's(And thus I'm trying hard not to write about how much I hate it)... I guess I'll just use this as an opportunity to state that my affection and emotional attachment to Frankie is infinitely stronger than most Hollywood starlettes. I'm not gonna lie, that redhead is something special. :-* |

You're right on the other points, too; there are a few class acts in Hollywood, and there are some very shallow, vapid cartoon characters. But on a level playing field where everyone's equally "real", I think a cartoon would very likely win over a Hollywood starlet more often than not. |
There's something about Frankie all right ^^.
My point was just that cartoons can be just as shallow as celebs can be. And actually, it's hard to really tell which actors are actually putting on a show for the cameras, and which ones are actually really decent people. Toons are simply more "likable" because they don't have dual identites like actors and actresses do. Some actors are VERY nice and good people inside. Like Johnny Depp, Jason Lee, Sharon Osbourne, Seth Green. The things I hear about some of those celebs have just been the nicest things I've ever heard. Actors are like toons and vise versa, some are always putting on a show while others are as good and clean cut as they seem to be. I think the thing that we love most about toons is the fact that they have a sense of innocence and real deceny about them. There not plagued or bothered by crap like drugs, and stuff like that. Like Frankie, there sweet as sweet can be. |

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2ery good points, all. And yes, Frankie IS something special alright. She has this undying charm to her. ^^

I am probably late on this topic, but here it goes:
1. Frankie 2. Daphne (Scooby Doo) 3. Kim Possible 4. Atomic Betty 5. Josie (Josie and the Pussycats) What do they all have in common? Redheads!:cheese:  |
Do you have a crush on a FHMIF character?
Just what the thread title says. I'm TOTALLY into Frankie. In case you hadn't noticed from my avatar and signature ^^; What about you people? Now, please don't make fun of anyone or their crush.
|
Holy Hell dragon rider, you like nearly all the same toon girls I do ! Seriously, I love Frankie, Sally, Gadget and ESPECIALLY Jupiter. The only ones I don't share your toon crushes on are Ariel from Little Mermaid (although i know someone who is OBSESSED with her) and that one from "Teenage robot".
Never saw that show so don't really got much to say on it. As I said before when I started my attraction thread, I love crushing on toons and I don't think there's anything wrong with it, so long as you don't start making cardboard cut outs of them and talking to them like they are real people ::) then that's a bit weird. A recently discovered toon crush I want to shout out: Sawyer from "Cats don't dance". A lovely little toon feline who sings so beautifully, and was designed by Frankie herself! (actually Lauren Faust but you get the idea). She was one of Sawyer's animators. And if you mind the shameless plug here, I made a youtube video all about my toon crushes. Dragon rider, I think you especially might find this video interesting: http://youtube.com/watch?v=T9KaHeekV7U |
Misty from the Pokemon anime. She kinda grew on me, what with me seeing those huge marathons on weekends and all...
|
I don't have many crushes. They're more favourites than anything else. Although there is one that is still close to my heart...
Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. Ever since I first saw her, she's captured me with her kindnesss and sweet personality. If I ever have a daughter, I want her to be just like Sakura. Don't worry, Cass. I still like Frankie! |

The two earliest cartoon crushes I had were Betty Rubble and Sabrina The Teenage Witch (1969 version).

I really like Mac. :) And I like Wilt, Beast Boy from Teen Titans, Jude from 6Teen, and Cody from Total Drama Island. :D

Mentioning Teen Titans, I have the BIGGEST toon crush/love on Starfire, I think she's one if the sweetest most lovely looking toon girl of the recent toons of the now. I also LOVE Jinx, I didn't care much for her at first but she really grew on me. Mostly its her appearance, it's just so unique. |

BTW, I like your new avatar, Mr. Marshmallow. It's cool!!

When I was a wee thing, I had a crush on John Darling from Peter Pan. I'm not sure why, probably the way he was always trying to act more mature than he really was. When I was kindergartner aged, I liked any boy I knew with glasses, particularly my best friend's big brother. Told my parents, my best friend, and even HIM that I was going to marry him someday. 8D As I got older and into my "tween" years, I shifted to Peter Pan himself. Throughout my gradeschool days, I had a tendancy to "fall" for any red haired boy that crossed my path. Even if they were bullies. :-X But now days, hmmm... I kind of liked Milo from Pepper Ann, although haven't seen that cartoon in years (I miss it! Whaaa!!!), and I kind of like Robin from TT. As for Foster's.... uh, kind of shy to admit this for obvious reasons, but Sparky will like this---- Tarrence! I don't know why, I can't put my finger on it, but he must remind me of someone. I'll have you know it's not his bullyness I'm attracted to though. It's something else, probably the way he's drawn or something.

Of all the crushes I've had though over the years, the main ones never have died down. Number one is easily Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon. Why? Well, I always thought she was hottest of the scouts and also the most lovable scout. She was a brave, powerful, and faithful friend who always stood up for others. She always wanted to make others happy with her cooking and I felt so hurt and sorry for her because like her, I've tried so many times to have a romantic relationship only to fail every time. So I can relate. I also felt bad for her because Jupiter got the least "centered episodes" out of all the scouts. My next big crush is also Misty from Pokemon, I've always crushed on that cute little red head. I thought she was such a hottie when I used to watch Pokemon, I felt she was such a nice person but had a hard time showing it and despite the fact she and Ash Ketchum are destined to be together, I often wrote stories of "my guy" crushing on her. Finally my last longest running crush goes to sweet, adorable Bunnie Rabbot from Sonic the hedgehog (comics/TV show). I found her southern accent to be so insanely cute I never got sick of seeing her, I loved her voice actress on the show (Christine Cavanaugh who also did Gosalyn on Darkwing Duck) and I thought she looked super cute. She never really did get the attention she deserved in the comics or the TV show but I still love that cybernetic southern bunny bell. |
