The "3-D" wasn't very good with my Shrek 3-D glasses, but the episode was beyond greatness. Lately, Foster's has been proving to me just how far a cartoon can go.

Take a guy getting stuck in a sewing shop, Foster's makes it amazing, take a classic zombie-invasion plot, Foster's makes it BEYOND amazing.

Out of five stars, I'd have to give this episode six....
....and a half.

And seeing Madame Foster in a Yoda costume made my day. 8D

Fosters, thanks for accepting reality in your show by having Herriman "die".

You forgot Goo's seance from "Infernal Slumber". "Why is they dead?" :-/

Yeah but, Bloo actually thought he killed Mr. Herriman I mean he REALLY believe he took someone else's life.

That's kind of what I was more aiming at with that statement.

Kootiebirdo 10-12-2007 08:14 PM

I definitely enjoyed it a HECK of a lot more than the recent ones. It was great seeing Mac's sugar rush again as well as Wilt in his werewolf form. I was a little bummed that the end credits were squished just so Cartoon Network could show a Goosebumps commercial. All 'n all, a solid episode.:D

WiltsAKGirl17 10-12-2007 09:57 PM

I'm actually watching this one as I type. (The scheduling is a little off in Alaska) It's been interesting so far, but I'm enjoying it. (It's hard to watch without the 3D glasses...)

I loved the scene where Bloo "killed" Mr. Herriman. I hate to admit this, but I saw the "death by fake peanut brittle can" thing coming, but it was still classic. I loved Bloo's version of CPR-- funny all the way.

I'm keeping this as a short mention so I don't send y'all on overload, but I loved Wilt in the tux. It was really cute.

The costumes of all the characters were great-- the animators did a fantastic job creating some serious visual interest. I loved the PPG nod with Frankie's costume-- I got a kick out of it.

I am a little disappointed that the end credit sequence was cut-- it looked like it could have been cute. Maybe it'll be shown when they do this ep on reruns.

Overall, pretty good. I still prefer the earlier seasons of the show, but this was still a good one.

WiltFan 10-12-2007 10:32 PM

IMO, this episode is one of the best in season 5.
I loved everything about it, the references, the humor...
Sure, the 3-D effects weren't all that great, but it was still tons of fun to watch!
10/10 :D

Which reminds me, what was Frankie dressed as during that flashback? A Punker or something? I couldn't tell.

I thought that Madame Yoda..I mean Foster, tripped over the lamp in the flashback scene, after blissfully stepping over Frankie and WILT(NOT Mr. Herriman), who were sprawled on the steps after Frankie fell over Wilt, who had been knocked unconcious by the aforementioned lamp(was that the same lamp that Coco fell in love with in "Partying Is Such Sweet Soiree"?). That scene reminded me of a fan art pic on DA-don't know who made it-which has Madame Foster squaring off against Yoda; it's pretty darn funny.

Even funnier than Bloo's notion of CPR, though, was his "thorough" burial of Mr. Herriman in the backyard. He just chucked a few shovelfulls of dirt over him, not even really bothering to dig a grave at all, and figured that nobody would notice! It IS a bit disturbing, when you think about it, that Bloo would be that nonchalant, and even joyful at one point, about actually having caused someone's "death", but I guess since Bloo thinks like a kid, his concept of actual death and it's permanency is rather primitive, and it goes hand-in-hand with his selfish nature and rebelliousness against authority. He was torn between guilt, and being thrilled that he'd finally gotten rid of a major thorn in his side, and the latter won out.

Upon later reflection, I also wondered how they got Wilt to go along with the whole plot, since basically, he WOULD have been lying, by pretending that not only he, but everyone else, was being killed and turning into zombies. I suppose that with Wilt, your approach to a situation makes all the difference. Ask him to lie and he's got problems with it, and can't follow through, but tell him to role-play and it seems as though the acting talent takes over from there; I gotta admit that his "death scene" as he was being dragged out by his feet, screaming in terror, was pretty darn convincing. Even though there were obvious and much-less-gory differences, it sorta reminded me of that scene in Jaws where Quint is sliding down into the jaws of the shark.

She was dressed as Tank Girl. Awesome comic-book reference.

Okay, I'm willing to give Darrick Bachman another chance. As I've stated a million times, I didn't really like any of his previous episodes, but this was beyond brilliant. Bloo yelling "controlate, hombre!" had me in tears. And my goodness, the animation really shined in this one. Almost every expression and/or pose had a certain charm and quirkiness to it few cartoons have these days. Great stuff, great stuff.

Crash-N-Cortex 10-13-2007 09:44 AM

I also liked Bloo's last-year costume, Mojo Jojo. It seems that Bloo comes up the same tric each Halloween, and the residents are sick of it, so they pretended to be zomibes. Madame Foster's Yoda costume was kinda cool. Mac can be a bit strong and fast when he has a sugar rush. He's almost as fast as XLR8 from Ben 10.

fosters-fan 10-13-2007 10:18 AM

I loved this episode! It was awesome!!! :smed:

The only downside that I have of it is that we didn't get to see Eduardo in a Halloween costume. Can't sat say I blame him for shaking in his boots on this of all occasions, since Halloween is a time for frightening things to happen. But if Ed DID have a costume, whaddya suppose he would have gone as? The only thing I could possibly imagine him going as is a werewolf, or a minotaur, courtesy of CG's mytholigical Eduardo picture on DeviantART. I doubt they would have used the latter. ::)

Still, I loved this episode through and through! On a scale of one to ten, this episode is an eleven! Even if the 3-D effects didn't seem like they were working. :D

Subzeroace 10-13-2007 12:46 PM

This is my new fav eppy! I loved Bloo "Killing" Herriman, and the dedication from Mr H to the trick was amazing! Look at all the stuff he let Bloo do with him to make himself seem dead! I know it's a 'toon and all, but wow, bravo Mr. H!

I also loved the zombie versions of the cast, they looked awesome! I liked Mr. H and Wilt the best ^^

I'm probably the only one who didn't like Frankie's costume. I like PPG don't get me wrong, but Blossom was never even close to being a fav character of mine. I didn't like her at all x.x

I'd rather see Frankie as Bubbles or Buttercup, but I guess she did look better as Blossom.

I hope they put this ep on a special DVD that comes with 3D glasses sometime!

montitech 10-13-2007 02:01 PM

so frustrating,

i faxed in the application to CN for the 3d glasses for my 2 year old (and myself) two weeks ago. They arived today only 16 hrs after the episode.

I did watch the episode without them, and it looked like the 3d was not very noticible except for a couple of moments.

Cassini90125 10-13-2007 03:31 PM

Don't feel too bad; as I've said, the 3-D effects were hardly worth the effort. Not bad, but you didn't really miss anything.

Ub3rD4n 10-13-2007 04:34 PM

Well, this episode was awesome! I loved every minute of it! I loved Jackie's costume (so fitting!), Wilt's fake-arm bit, and pretty much everything else! I particularly liked the way that Mr Herriman was getting into the spirit of things. He's so often portrayed as a stick-in-the-mud, and he is, but not ALL the time.(I personally think he'd be less strict and more fun if he wasn't the one in charge of disipline around the house :herriman:) The one annoying thing in the episode was Bloo's reaction to killing Mr Herriman, which was low, even for Bloo. I thought THAT of all things would be something to trigger the seldom-used responsibility switch in Bloo's brain, but I guess I was wrong. So, all in all, an excellent episode, one of the best this season, and so what if we all saw the fact that it was a trick coming?

Little Baby IceCream 10-13-2007 04:51 PM

I almost forgot about Eduardo's spanish fit. If he was speaking a little bit slower, I would have been able to understand it. Great episode!

Little Baby IceCream :gooblab:
Go Red Sox!

Imaginary Light 10-13-2007 05:56 PM

Okay, so the 3D was lame. But the episode was awesome. I found myself laughing out loud at many, many parts. Probably because I have a crude sense of humor, but...:scaryberry:

Anyway, Wilt's arm gag really cracked me up. And so did the return of Mac's sugar rush:P I totally saw the "it's a trick" thing coming, but still...awesome epsiode!

I always thought the "heart Attack" scene was a trick, I expected Mr. H to go "Ha, I tricked you!" and then Bloo would try to get back at the with something else....but oh well. XD

Everything else, from that scene on, I thought it was really happening, like Mac and Bloo did. Acting does do wonders. :D

....I just realized something. In the flashback where Wilt is dressed as a werewolf, when he steps outside to give the kids some candy, his feet make the same squeaking noises as when he wears his shoes. And we don't see him wearing them....Even if he wore his shoes under the costume, we shouldnt've hear them...Oh well. :D

Xroc88 10-13-2007 07:44 PM

Lol i loved sugar mac.

fosters-fan 10-13-2007 08:03 PM

Me, too. Oh, did I mention that I was kind of disappointed that Eduardo did not have a costume at all?

If he did have a costume, I wonder what he would have gone as. What do you guys think he might have gone trick-or-treating as if he wasn't so scared of Halloween?

A vampire, or something else that makes use of his fangy teeth.

He looks like he's gonna eat Azul in your avatar btw, the silly cannonball.

Lynnie 10-13-2007 10:59 PM

Ok, after allll that trouble I went through to get ahold of 3D glasses, I'm not ashamed! But yeah, the effects weren't that spectacular so those without glasses, don't worry too much about it. The effects I noticed most was the house when the ep first started, the can Bloo kept holding out wanting people to open it, Herrimans "zombie" hand reaching through the crack in the bedroom door, and Ed while he was running to get away from the zombies. There were other scenes I could tell were suppose to be in 3D, but it didn't look that way. So as pretty much everyone else has stated, it was no biggie. And I'm sure the reruns will be aired in normal 2D, so we won't see those weird red and blue lines.

That being said, I loved this episode! Yay, Wilt, Ed and Coco are all back! I loved Wilt's prank with the arm. I never really saw him as a prankster before, but he's a responsible one. I don't understand why the first group of kids didn't take to the prank, but the last group ran off screaming. Maybe something will come to me the next time I watch it. Or maybe it was Wilt's fake scream that cued the kids that it was just a joke? I dunno... I also loved the flashbacks to "last year", with the can and the lamp, and then Wilt, Frankie and then Madame F. out on the porch. And somehow they all remembered that and knew that Bloo was behind the whole thing, lol! And the grande finale, Mac rampaging the house with Bloo riding on his back, on another sugar high. And he lost his shirt again while chasing those poor kids for their candy. 8D I L-O-V-E-D Frankie's costume as Blossom! She was so cute with long blonde hair and a big bow, a whole new look for her! One thing I think was taken a tad overboard was when Bloo and Ed were in the closet and they were each screaming while Bloo shined the light on his face and then Eds, and back on himself. It was funny up until maybe the fourth scream, but quickly lost something after that.

jWell, and then there was the fact that for once CN shows the end credits but it's smashed down in the lower right-hand corner, and they're playing the Goosbumps theme instead of the dialog going on in the credit. This is another one I'll be keeping my eyes on On Demand, so hopefully I can record it again without those darn splash ads and the tiny squashed credit scene. :terrence:

But overall, I absolutely loved this episode, and see it as a better "Haloween" eppie than "Bloooo" was. But then, this actually took place on Haloween, so yeah, that would make sense, wouldn't it? :bloosmirk:

pitbulllady 10-14-2007 07:47 AM

I was neither disappointed, or surprised, that Eduardo chose not to participate in Halloween. I figured that this would be a traumatic time of year for him. I AM surprised that they actually got him to go along with the plot, or that he wasn't afraid of the other house members in their zombie get-up, even after having been told that these were just costumes and make-up, or that he was able to so convincingly fake being terrified when he was planning to go along with it from the get-go. I guess that Wilt's not the only one with some real acting talent around the house! Also, I suppose that if Ed had acting nonchalant or even excited about Halloween, Bloo would have gotten suspicious, since that would not be "in-character" for Eduardo at all.

pitbulllady

Nyo 10-14-2007 08:47 AM

The 3D sucked? I'm not surprised. Cheap gimmick. >:(

Great episode. Sugar Mac rocked my socks, and I was on the floor the whole time he was in the act. I saw the "it's a trick" thing from a mile away...but good nonetheless.

I kinda wished CN showed us the credit gag WITH SOUND. Gosh.

3.5 out of 5 stars.

Ub3rD4n 10-14-2007 01:09 PM

Maybe Eduardo forgot about the plan until he was captured. I wouldn't put it past him. Or perhaps they only told him after he was captured.

antgirl1 10-14-2007 03:43 PM

Welp, I just saw the end credits in their prime. Here's what they said, for those who didn't see it.

Mac: *wakes up* Ow, my head...what happened? *looks at fake arm* OH NO! What did I do?!

Wilt: *walked on screen* Hey Mac! Sorry, I've been looking for this everywhere! *takes fake arm, puts it back on*

Mac: *faints*

AerostarMonk 10-14-2007 03:59 PM

Just noticed that Wilt's arm had a black hand with five fingers. Weird.

Lynnie 10-14-2007 07:34 PM

It has now been confirmed that the re-runs are in 2D.

Thanks Ant for giving us what exactly was said in the credits. :) Even if we can't actually hear it, knowing what both Wilt's and Mac's voices sound like, we can now easily "hear" them saying those lines now next time we watch if Time-Warner does the same thing to it (which will be very likely, unfortunately).

Dragonrider1227 10-15-2007 09:29 AM

I loved this episode! Let me get one thing off my chest first.
FRANKIE LOOKED SO CUTE IN HER POWERPUFF GIRLS COSTUME!!
Now then, this episode was highly amusing. I loved the plot, I loved Bloo freaking out, and something amusing about sugar rush Mac stomping through the zombies with Bloo singing his "Zombie fighters" thing was hilarious. Was anyone else beyond mad when the punchline in the credits got dubbed over with a stupid ad for Goosebumps (which a CARTOON network shouldn't be running anyway just saying ::) )

Mulch 10-15-2007 10:41 AM

Woo! What an episode! (Thanks a million, Sparky.)
I personally liked this ep more than Bloooo as a Halloween special. Even though the ending was just too predictable, that was also the case with Bloooo.
The next thing I'm gonna say will probably sound really stupid, but I was actually a bit creeped out at some parts with Bloo, Ed and Coco just walking in the halls. But it was an enjoyable episode, and that said, I'll name my favourite parts for no reason.
-The whole scene with Bloo trying to get out into the yard with Mr. Herriman's body. There was just something so disturbing and dark about it that made me laugh my head off.
-The way everyone was being "killed off" one by one. Sorta reminded me of a lot of horror movies, like numerous zombie movies and Alien.
-The costumes. (Coco is a crazy chicken!)

That pretty much sums up my review.

The only people who enjoyed that were CN execs and the sponsors, who were all no doubt delighted to squeeze out a little more time for commercials. It's a disgusting practice and it needs to stop. :terrence:

Lynnie 10-15-2007 07:38 PM

CN itself actually may not have much, if anything, to do with the squashing of the credits or the credits of the last show going on one side of the screen while the intro of the next show going on the other. It must be a Turner Broadcasting thing. TNT and TBS are doing the same thing with their shows. Nick does it too sometimes, although they're owned by an entirely different company. It seems to be a trend going around the different networks. Ick...

Anyway, back to the eppie, I found it amusing to hear Frankie talk in the same manner she did in "Say it isn't Sew", very articulate and clear and loud. I have to talk the same way at work sometimes to be sure the people I'm talking to understand me, especially when I feel whatever it is I'm saying might be confusing. It's more frustrating though when whoever I'm talking to thinks I'm talking like that because I think they're dumb or I'm mocking them or something. Ok, maybe sometimes I am... :cheese: But honestly, usually it's more just to help myself keep my thoughts organized and make sure they understand me. I understand why she talks like that sometimes.

I just saw the preview and cracked up at Jackie Khone's costume.
(And, although I link everything to SpongeBob SquarePants, check out the outfit Stinky wears in "Friend or Foe?".)

omgggggg I just watched this episode. XD I love the references they make to actual horror movies, Wilt doing the arm trick (though he was sort of out-of-character with the "Fine, here's your candy." line XD) and omg the "I'm sorry, but this is not okaaaaaaaaayyyyy!!!" and Coco actually dressed up as a CHICKEN. And the flashlight-screaming scene. XDDD

BUT OMGGGG I DIED AT THE ZOMBIE FIGHTERS REFERENCEEEEEEE from Squeeze the Daaaaaaaaaaaay XDDD It was the LAST thing I expected them to throw in there, my gosh, and actually getting Mac high on the candy as a way to destroy all of them. XDD Bloo, you are an amazing idiot.

Zeitgheist 10-17-2007 11:48 AM

Why haven't I commented on this episode yet?

Wow, the beginning... wow... XD ...wow, yeah... a little... Mac and Bloo bonding there... yup... I sat and had a hard time breathing from laughter during that, but what REALLY made me literally cry was when Bloo went to herriman 8I even posted the clip on my youtube XD)

"...YES!! I KNEW THIS JOKE KILLS!!"

He SO reminded me of Freakazoid at that moment XD and the fact that he did not care at all about Herriman made me love him even more (nono, I don't hate Herriman, I just love it when characters are completely insensitive beyond comprehension)

Well, they have the entire 3D episode on Cartoon Network Video until October 22. If only there was some way to use a video capture card or have it encoded to avi format... ::)

I use this program to capture something playing on the desktop:

ZDSoft Screen Recorder

Its great, but you do have to pay for it if you want to capture more than 5 minutes and if you don't want their name printed on your video.
