You know what I hate? When classic 2-D Disney movies come out with horrible straight-to-DVD sequels. Did you know that now there's a straight-to-DVD Cinderella 3 coming out? ::)
|
Oh, I SAW that! They're doing the same thing with Peter Pan, I think...if they haven't already...
|
I'll tell what I hate about cartoons. You cannot take any of your crushes on a date!:frankiemad:
|
Cinderella 2 was SO. BAD. It was about the MICE. Running out of ideas much?

It's still hard to forgive, though -- Walt Disney would never have allowed such a thing to happen at all. |
I hope that their next 2-D feature is something on the scale of The Lion King and not something like Lilo & Stich. Don't get me wrong, L$S was a great little movie but Disney needs to get back to makeing grand, unforgettable adventures.
And that leads me to another gripe I have at cartoons. Where have all the big-time western made animated marvles go? The last thing of the kind I can remember is Brother Bear and that was pretty underwhelming. Comedy's are nice, but we need something HUGE. |
I hate it with all the new cartoons, is that the producers feel the need to add stupid pointless lines in to try to make their film "funny". For example, in Disney's The Wild, there were some really pathetic lines. I'm not sure if Disney feels it needs to stoop so low to get children to watch it, but I'm just going to say, if they put lines like that in The Lion King, and some of their other masterpieces, they would have been ruined.

you know what i hate about my shows? the ones that are animes, the ones edited by 4kids, are so terrible i have to look up videos from the origional version(pre-4kids) and watch those, which take forever to load.

By the way, Home on the Range was Disney's last hand-drawn animated feature (Brother Bear was second to last). It wasn't really too good, but I didn't think it was Pocahontas-dreadful either. Had one particularly good song. The only hand-drawn animated film to hit wide release in 2006 was Curious George (which made heavy use of cgi backgrounds). Kinda Sad, especially considering the number of terrible 3D releases. I liked Curious George... |

Villains though are my claim to fame, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE villains, cartoons bring out some of the best villains, Disney in particular. Disney makes fantastic villains and they always have the most memorable voices and names. My favorites include Jafar, Scar, Hades, Hopper, Shere Khan, Ratigan, Frollo, and almost EVERY villain from Disney's Darkwing Duck!!! |
The Emperor's Groove is like my favorite movie ever. I'm so glad they trashed the prince/pauper kingdom of the sun garbage for it.
Hades is AWESOME. I loooove villains! Unless they're evil for NO REASON at all, or for a stupid one, cause then they don't seem real. Like the Queen from Snow White. Hey she's prettier than me, go carve her heart out while I turn myself into an old hag! |

dont really like villans though. mostly because theyre to unrealistic anymore. |
Hmm... I'd have to say that my least favourite thing is about cartoons is the stereo types used for the british. I find them offensive
|
Are you British, Vampyre?
Just out of interest. That kinda took me by surprise. |

I think someone mentioned this here before but I hate how most female villains are motivated to be evil by jealousy, particularly over beauty. It's just.... bah. |
Speaking of discarded movie script, the one I really wanted to see was the original idea for the Incredibles, where syndrome was just the start off villain, and the main villain was a guy called Xerek. This was when it was still being kicked around by Warners not too long after the Iron Giant.
Man, Incredibles is one of my fave movies of all time. |

Well I'll be. So what stereotypes in particular are you thinking of? I get bored of the Hugh Grant english jerk stereotype but even that's real funny especially when directed at Hugh Grant. Generally I find stereotypes greatly amusing. The fact that theyre often nothing like real people they're meant to represent is also part of the fun.
|
Humorous stereotypes used in cartoons these days are usually crafted to be more absurd than insulting.
There's a reason why the Mackenzie brothers were quite popular in Canada, and why Texans loved King of the Hill. |
One more thing about censorship: in a version of Hellsing, there are Nazis as the bad guys. BUT! If you really wanna put Nazis in a cartoon/comic/anime, AT LEAST DO IT PROPERLY. In the original version it's fine. But what? In one of the versions, we see them introduce themselves as Nazis, and what do we see in the background and their armbands? Some cute dice-shaped symbol. Come on, you guys, EVERYONE knows what should be there!!!
|
What gets old for me is cartoons with the same old cliche over and oover again! It's always a good guy, a bad guy, someone either wants to steal jewls or rule the world or kidnap someone from the govornment or the princess or the king-and nothing more. And good LORD, do not let me get started on fighting sequences!

Hah yeah, or when they jump at eachother and clash swords in mid-air, and then just kinda stay there as they continue the fight. Helloooooo? Gravity?
Though, my main gripe about cartoons? That they aren't real :( lol |
What I like about cartoons? Mostly, actually it's the fact that they're really funny at times, which is what they're made for. They can be varying, and they're fun to watch.
What I don't like? Whatever the hell is happening to 90% of them now. ;_; And sometimes, I really want that whole Naruto thing to freaking dissapear - TV.com's 'animation' board has become a 'Naruto' board, or even a 'Naruto pairing' board. Also, potty humor is overused. MGP'sAM keeps trying to be funny with the monkey butts, but they really don't know they're being frowned upon I guess... And indeed, those fight scenes are... annoying. Violence is also taking over cartoons too much. And also, as in Foster's, complete 'pain' moments like Imposter's. Notice which list is huger. :frankiemad: |
I love cartoons because they can be extremely simple, but still enjoyable. However, at the same time they can be as complex as you want them to be. You can read inbetween the lines all you want and always imagine that there's more to them. I guees that's why there is so much fanfiction based around cartoons.
I also love them because they are escape. Life can be kicking me when I'm down, but cartoons are always there to entertain. Also, in the cartoon world, good always wins. 8-) What I don't like about them: Some of the best ones get cancelled for really stupid reasons. May that never happen to Foster's. |
*OT*
Hello everyone. Just wanted to give a huge thank you for this topic, for we have a school project where we have to analyse forums, and one forum topic in particular. I chose this one. (Now the teacher wants to watch Foster's :D) |

Also I don't get the Gym Partner hate. I know a lot of people hate toilet humor but it's not like this is a new thing. I'd like to point people to Ren and Stimpy as well as Rocko's Modern Life if you want to see grossout humor at its finest. What I really hate in terms of cartoons are the ones that clearly are just cheap clones of a popular series. Just you wait, Disney will soon try to find a way to copy Foster's, it's inevitable! :scaryberry: |
