I'll to be going to school tomorrow wich will be my very first time going to school ever, but then you already know that! I got to go to Orientation today, or Open House, it's the same thing. Everybody got to look around to see were their rooms were and such. I found my locker, but I cant get the darn thing open! The teacher can open it, but neither me nor mom could get it open. I tried, mom tried, we did exactly how and what the teacher said, turn it one way, go the other way, nothing. So, *sigh* I'll have to make like Mac and carry my backpack everywere with me untill I can get my locker open.

BlooCheese 08-21-2006 04:08 PM

Yup. Jammed lockers are always a problem.

Kzinistzerg 08-21-2006 05:05 PM

Don't rely on your locker. I made it through eighth grade without once opening my locker.

BlooCheese 08-22-2006 11:54 AM

Wow. I wouldn't have been able to do that.

My friend's locker couldn't open, so she had to keep on moving her stuff in and out of other peoples' lockers. It was crazy.

Tonya 08-22-2006 12:02 PM

Welp, I got to go to school today! It was great! First of all, I go into the math teachers class when I was realy supposed to go to Homeroom. So, she lead me back to Homeroom were I belonged. Then, after being in Homeroom for a while, a girl in the class threw up and the janitor had to clean that up, some of the boys of whom I'm familiar with from my street were all laughing and kind of making fun of her, I felt kinda bad for her. So then, we go to the gym teachers class. She's cool, alot of folks like her, she reminds me of Wanda Sykes, with that personality and she even kinda looks like her. But of all things, the zipper on my backpack broke so I had to hold my backpack together AND tote the thing around the whole time! After her, we went to math class of wich NOW I was supposed to be, but not much happend there though. Then, we get to science class. The teacher specificaly stated that "You don't talk while I'm talking, and I won't talk while you're talking". Well, RIGHT AFTER that, these two boys in the back were talking to eachother, and giggling. The teacher gets anoyed at them for talking over her, so they stoped for a few minutes, the teacher continued talking, and they started talkig again, and it happend over and over utill they fell asleep. The teacher scolded them, and that's what happend so far. Now, school's finally out. Okay.... EVERYBODY'S bus numbers got mixed up! I thought I was supposed to get on a 10 when it was really a 35, it was a little bit of a mess. But boy was it fun!

Kzinistzerg 08-22-2006 12:09 PM

oooh... Hmmm... That's ok for a first day. The first thing you learn about schools is that the amount of things properly done or working is inversely proportional to the number of kids at the school.

Nyo 08-25-2006 12:06 PM

a) when do you go back to school?
b) what classes/courses are you taking?
c) what's your school mascot?

a) September 5th. A day before my b-day.
b) I dunno yet.
c) A bear.

Fomalhaut 08-26-2006 12:25 PM

I'm going to university for the very 1st time next week! :o

Kzinistzerg 08-27-2006 09:12 AM

Fifteen days for me. Eh heh heh. I finished all my homework three weeks ago, but then again, I bet it's not as long or as difficult as yours. :P

Are you saying that you got homework to do during the summer??

Kzinistzerg 08-27-2006 04:12 PM

Yes. yes i did.

Our homework is to read two books and write three pages (double-spaced) on each one.

It's really, really dumb. people like me who read lots of books are absolutely tortured by having to waste our time in the stuff they make us read, and since the point is to encourage reading, it's worthless. And those who don't read, won't.

PLus I have to do a couple of drawings, but those are fun.

I'm also studying calculus, biology and european history on my own.

Imaginary Light 08-31-2006 08:52 AM

Ugh, I had a summer reading project to do too over the summer. Honestly, I LOVE to read, but this is torture. I read the book, but I haven't done the 5+ page report yet. And school starts in 5 days:P

Cassini90125 08-31-2006 08:56 AM

What was the book?

a) 10th September
b) Classes: English, Dutch, Art, History, Science, Geography, Photography, can't think of any more...
c) A red Dragon (No seriously :D )

GEH! Why couldn't _I_ have a dragon for a school mascot?? Seriously, that's awesome.

As for myself, I'm going back to college Sept. 6th. I take two classes at a time, since I'm a full-time worker. (8-6pm!) I'll be doing Algebra 2 (I didn't pass in high school, this is one of those annoying pre-reqs), and Women's Literature. (THAT is right up my ally ^_^)

Blegh. I'm doing Math 122 over here (which is algebra). I passed it in high school, but I managed to do a fantastic job of forgetting everything I learned in 3 month's break and I just winged it on the placement test. I need to get that one over with in order to pass onto an even harder level of math that's required for the psychology major, statistics. Yay.

Exactly. Reading was something I LOVED until it became a requirement and an essay. Are you in any honor classes? They usually make you do summer reading if you are. And, yeah, it's like they hand-pick the crappiest books on their lists. I found that it is VERY difficult to come up with 2 pages of writing if your mind is hardly into it.

I totally agree with this. I'm an avid reader, but ask me to write 5 pages (a more realistic size for a term paper) on something I could care less about, and my mind goes blank.
Ask me to write something on Foster's however, and I could go on with a novel. See the difference?

vinny 09-01-2006 12:10 PM

last year was my last year of school. they were like "please dont come back" and i was like "ok". but im going to get a GED in a few days.

There was a big list I could chose from and I chose "The Five People You Meet In Heaven". Pretty good book.

Two pages (or a five paragraph essay) was the requirement for English I Honors when I was a freshman in high school. The requirements have gotten longer over the years, of course. Ick.

Yep. The only time I could remember EVER having written anything I actually poured my heart into was a term paper during my senior year. My teacher gave us a list of books to choose from (if reading should be *required* I strongly believe it should at least be done this way) and I stuck with 1984. We were to contrast and discuss the similiarities of that book with a cartoon, comic, movie, or even another book. I picked Invader Zim and just went crazy with it and got an A. Makes a world of a difference if students are actually interested in what they're writing.

FostersFriend 09-02-2006 06:43 AM

I go back on Tuesday *cry with me?

Delighted for you, it must be a great place then! :D

I'm moving back up to college tomorrow, don't start for another week though. Can't wait!

Kzinistzerg 09-09-2006 10:57 PM

Well, school started on wednesday. Wednesday i got home, fell asleep, woke up at six, ate, fell asleep again, woke up at ten, got some papers signed and went back to bed. Thursday I got home, went on a motorcycle ride, got a new bike helmet, blanket, and some tie-downs, got home at seven, watched fosters (yay!) realised i had no clue how to prove the square root of two was irriational and fell asleep. Friday I got home, read a book, messed around, read some more, ate supper, and stayed up untill 4:30 in the morning reading an incredible book, the second book that has EVER brought tears to my eyes and I do NOT get emotional easily. The last time i cried was when my cat died years ago, the last time i got chosed up was when my other cat died at the end oof june (and only for a bit), and then this morning i woke up at eight, fell asleep, woke up at twelve, got up, and went to New Jersey all day and got home at ten. And missed Fosters.

The time at school was spent in sheer boredom.

MY MATH TEACHER IS TOO ENTHUSIASTIC. He bounces around the room jabbering excitedly about the wonders of calculus ("And then, it's an abstract concept! Isn't that great! Zero's the first abstract conept! It's amazing! WHOOOOOOOOO!")(I added in the WHOOOO part but the rest is almost verbatim...)

My art class sucks royally, but the rest of my day is okay. German class is so very pathetically easy...
