YAY I finally finished sewing my Halloween costume! It was kinda hard because it's a long vinyl dress and the material kept sticking to itself and the sewing machine's presser foot, not to mention I had to pin it minimally because it IS a vinyl material and any pinholes in it are there permanently.
*Sigh of relief* But I got it done, and it fits beautifully like a glove. Easily my favorite thing I've ever made. |
il porpiby be a catboy or a pielit
|
Finished our Dib and Gaz costumes today!! :) Yay we're all set.
|
Who are you going to be this Halloween?
I hope I put *this* one in the right place, because it's not Fosters related, and it's not a game (is it?)
Anyways, for this Halloween, I'll be an ice princess!:D Cool, huh? |
I am going as myself sadly.
|
I think there's already a halloween topic. So go post there & a mod/ admin can you delete this?
|
Could've deleted it, but merging works, too, plus it won't effect anyone's post count.
I'm still going as Darth Vader, by the way. :D |

Halloween is huger than ever here this year. Much bigger than it's ever been previously. I don't mind really because it's a fun festival and upsets some really uptight people.
I'm a little bit sorry it's replacing our local festivals though. Halloween is too close to our Nov 5 celebration, Guy Fawkes Night where we make huge fires and let off fireworks to celebrate a failed terrorist attack in 1605. This however is only scratching the surface, after talking to locals in my adopted home of Manchester it turns out that Trick or Treating is remarkably similar to a practice known as 'Copper Coaling'(sic) that seems to have died out at least 20-30 years ago and took place at this time of year(Samain). Children would annoy their neighbours by turning up with a copper pot and some peices of coal and sing a little song (fal-ala-loo!) for which they would recieve treats. Even weirder is the Mayday tradition of 'Polly dancers' where little boys would dress as little girls and get money from their neighbours. This androgynous pagan throwback was last performed in Manchester during the 1950s and may be linked to Morris dancing which is largely a Victorian invention. There. I don't suppose anyone's too interested but it's nice to think this old knowledge is recorded somewhere. Happy Halloween everybody! |
It's todaay! I even had to check Google to find out. (Just the http://www.google.com Main Page.
So Happy Halloween Never Forgotten! :):bloosmirk:;) |

Yeah! Happy Halloween!!!:D :bloogrin  I wish I could show you the picture of me in the ice princess costume, but i'm afraid it might aganst the rules, but if it's isn't, let me know, okay?:)

It's not against the rules, as far as I know. I'd love to see it; go for it. :)

I had costume issues. My mother wanted to wait until the last minute to get our costumes, because she heard from a friend that they're cheaper closer to Halloween.
I would like to point out that almost all costumes for people over the age of twelve are skanky and slutty. Therefore, I found nothing. Partially because every store we went to was practically empty, and also because I could never make up my mind. So I decided to go as Darth Vader because my brother has a toy lightsaber and a Darth Vader voice changer mask. My dad was kind enough to buy me a little kid's Darth Vader suit at the drug store today for six bucks so I could use the cape and belt. I've got a black sweater an an old pair of black dance pants as my outfit... I checked about ten minutes ago, and it looks like the voice changer's batteries are dead. Oh, well. At least it looks better than the stupid foam one that came with the little kid's costume. Hey, I'm just happy to have a costume- there are plenty of people who can't afford to buy a costume. -Marty/Darth Vader :goo: |
I'm just wearing my beloved black cape. XD I'ma stay home, watch TV, play on the computer here(maybe work on a Foster's music vid for Christmas...^^), ya know, stuff like that. Plus I'll be eating the candy that the trick-or-treaters don't take.
Yeah, so...Happy Holloween everypersons! |
An Open Letter to the Lady Who Gave Me Seedless Raisins
Dear LWGMSR, I bet you thought you were pretty clever, hiding your dried, withered grapes among the delectable chocolate treats. I don't know what you were trying to do, but whatever it was, it was not appreciated. I don't even like raisins, but even if I did I'd rather have candy. Halloween is not the time to think about being healthy. Halloween is the time to demand high-calorie confections from strangers. Maybe now, you'll realize that. Yours truly, Kageri |
I got my Halloween presents from my g/f. She got me 3 Nighmare Before Christmas pins an a keychain. I love Halloween gifts. And I got her the Wicked OST.
People here don't go outside to houses often anymore. Once again my house had no trick or traters. I hate liveing in a scared community, they all go to the mall. Losers. End rant. |
Aha. It's over. I've had a party, but didn't go trick-or-treat because I got tired and my eye was puffy or something and I just went home. -_-
Me and my friends put up a running gag with "very" ""very"" "normal" ""normal"" """normal""" dinner etc., Dr. Evil style. (you know, with your fingers next to your head.) It wasn't that normal because the olives had small eyes on them and little wooden sticks out of them as legs and there was pea soup with peas in it - only they look just like eyes. (Woohoo.) Also, I played the few beginning lines of Tocatta on a piano for Halloween scary... stuff. Was kinda fun. And I did eat something. Candy. I just thought 'Not the one that looks like...' FINGERS. Exactly. There was finger shaped candy. xD 1 Lollipop, A Strawberry Fruitella small candy thing, and a few of those long red wires. And a small piece of french bread with some butter on it. But the best thing was yet to happen: Marshmallows! (lol - i don't eat forum members >=D) I ate 3 of them - 2 were a bit burnt, hehehe. Overall, the party was kinda cool, but there wasn't much to do. :jk: |
i dont eat candy, but i went to a wild rave. i covered myself with glowsticks :D
|
Here's the pictures of my costume that I promised:
http://i11.tinypic.com/3z6wi03.jpg Me and my friend Sarah. I don't really like this one, but it's the only one where you can see my whole costume (that I spent HOURS on). http://i11.tinypic.com/2hfkpw6.jpg It was a very tricky costume. I had to keep adjusting everything. |

Well, my bro had requested the day off from work, but they called him in anyways and he didn't get home until after 3. We put on our Dib and Gaz outfits and headed downtown, but there wasn't anything to do so we drove back to our home area - which took forever because of traffic. (We would have stayed downtown for the late showing of Killer Klowns From Outer Space but my brother couldn't get the next day off, and he thought we'd be out to late if we went to the movie.) We went to dinner about 7 and when we were done at 8-ish we just went home. Nobody recognized who we were supposed to be, though a couple people liked my wig and tights. When we got home we sat around in costume, watching the unaired MST3K Venezuela short, waiting for trick-or-treaters; but like last year, there were none. And that was it. :P Well, at least we now have costumes for the Con. I'll post pictures later. |
I spent ten minutes on mine, but my friends loved it: it was a balck shirt, with two socks for sleeves and little cat-paw gloves. SInce i'm tiny they all said it was cute. I shoudl have gone the three-inch-claws route.
|
I spent the whole night hiding in the back of the house so it'd look like nobody was home. No trick-o-treaters showed up at my house last night, which is good as I never have any candy to spare.

I took my 17 Month old son out. He was a Pumpkin. My wife would not let me dress him up as Bloo. Besides I really do not have time for sewing (I still have 5 panels left to the curtains from last year.:'( )
All the same it was fun, he loved being in his waggon in the Dark and meeting the neighbors. not to mention now my wife and I get to eat all the candy. He gets to keep the toddler safe treats. Next year he will proboly dress as a fosters character, since his third Favorate show is Fosters. His First is Gonzo presents: Muppet Wierd Stuff and second is Elmo's World. Monty:-/ |
I was a cenobite from the Hellraiser movies! :D I didn't get a full pic of my costume, but I can describe it. It was a long black form-fitting shiny vinyl dress with matching arm-warmer things that I wrapped tightly with silver wire. I wrapped the same wire around my waist.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...teandEthan.jpg Here's my friend Cool Ethan and I. And yes, I used real fish hooks ;) I didn't want to go as the Female cenobite, so I made up my own and said I was the Chatterer's girlfriend 8D I eventually added more fish hooks, and I got pictures of it, but I've yet to upload those. I tried to win a costume contest, but some girl in one of those store-bought "sexy version of..." Dorthy costumes won instead. I was irritated, expecially since I spent so long on my dress... at least a month and a half. They went by applause instead of costume quality, and the girl brought all her friends, so she won. I didn't have anyone there that I knew, so I got the "Drink Coke, play again" applause. Not everyone even knew what Hellraiser was. The most rewarding part of the evening, though, was whenever several 30-40 year-old guys recognised what I was supposed to be and really liked my costume. These guys had actually watched and liked the gore-fest Hellraiser movies, so I knew they were a pretty good reference. |
You know, I've yet to see any of the Hellraiser movies. I lose at life.
I seriously think that storebought costumes, unless seriously altered/embellished, should simply not be allowed in costume contests. :P I'm sure you all agree. Okay here's the photos of me and my bro. We didn't have a third person to take a pic of us together unfortunately. I do not know why my wig came out so blue here - it IS purple. I actually played with the red and blue in Paintshop and it still looks blue. Just imagine it purple. And it's hard to see, but there's a GameSlave 3 logo on my Gameboy. http://www.fosters-home.com/forum/myimages/jimdib3.jpg http://www.fosters-home.com/forum/myimages/megaz4.jpg |
It doesn't look so blue from what I'm seeing. Great images, chief. :)
I also agree that unaltered store-bought costumes should be prohibited from costume contests. |

So, how can I upload the pictures of me in the ice princess costume? You know how to do it. |
Looks purple to me. Awesome costumes.... even though I haven't watched much IZ, I immediately recognized you. Yay! *is cultured*
|
Sadly, I never got to make the pimp costume. :'( I didn't really do anything on Halloween; just picked up Final Fantasy XII, cleaned a bit, handed out candy and helped a friend carve her pumpkin.
|
AH, Sparky, I'm in love with you guys' costumes!
The GameSlave was a great touch. And your wig SO looks purple :D (lovely) And yes, I agree... store-bought costumes should NOT be allowed. |
Uh, my mom doesn't know how to upload the pictures to the internet, so I may need help knowing how to do this, okay, so please help me, if that's okay, okay??
|
Sparky, those costumes are awesome! Those just totally made my day. =D
Well, Halloween was... exhausting. I had classes till seven and wasn't even in the mood to do anything but lay on the couch. Sadly, a few trick-or-treaters did come, and I really did end up giving them candy I had from last year. Gosh, I hope they won't get sick from it... On the bright side, this one kid dressed up as a skeleton did scare me. It reminded me of all the bones I had to memorize earlier in the semester. D: |
