Cool. ;D

taranchula 11-24-2008 07:37 AM

I found it kind of funny how the tags for that Youtube video led to some rather interesting choices for related content, like one of the chase scenes from Die Another Day for instance. And I think something from the Italian parliament as well.

don Jaime 11-24-2008 01:27 PM

That's odd. At 0:05, Mac's in the house dining room...in his pajamas, and his hair's tousled like he just got up. I wouldn't have thought he'd have been allowed to sleepover.

Lynnie 11-24-2008 05:01 PM

Yay, thank you for uploading that, Cass! And it looked to me like it's a "Thanksgiving" themed movie, too.

fosters home fan 11-24-2008 07:48 PM

Ah, there's the ad. Pretty quick ad, for one of the network's most popular shows......
Is that a Super Mario Bros. reference at 00:18? :D

It sure looks like one, after all Foster's has been peppered with old school video game references all throughout it's run.

Judging from the background it looks a reference to Super Mario Bros 3, the best Mario game of them all.

Cassini90125 11-25-2008 08:44 AM

When I first watched it my initial impression was that the movie might be a variation on the old "trapped in a videogame" plot.

Just over 55 hours until showtime. ;D

From the short trailer (cheers, Cass), this has the looks of some kind of Narnia/Alice In Wonderland-style adventure...though for some reason I can't stop thinking of the Twilight Zone episode "Little Girl Lost". Hey, the dog's name in that was Mac (or possibly Mack - I never saw it in written form).

Should be good, anyhow.

I thought that as well. However it plays out, it's not looking like the usual Foster's style. One of the things I've always liked about the show is that aside from the Imaginary Friends themselves, the stories were fairly ordinary, things that could happen in our own world (with comic enhancements, of course). Store Wars is a good example of what I mean; the plot could work for a number of past and current sitcoms without too much tinkering (albeit not as well as it worked for Foster's :)). Destination Imagination is something new, something different, I think, and aside from the excitement of it being a new Foster's story I'm also mighty curious to see just how different it is.

bloonuggets 11-26-2008 09:48 AM

I might pass on the Eagles-Cardinals game (due to the fact the Beagles sucked these past two weeks) and watch. After all, I am the FHfIF editor at TV.com.

Thank you for that. Far more polite than my response would have been. >:(

The print version of TV Guide did not see fit to mention the movie other than with a brief phrase in the grid section:

Not much, is it? But it did get me thinking that perhaps Frankie is busy trying to set things right in this "scoured" world while Mac and the gang are trying to find her and "rescue" her. It's a possibility, at least.

We'll know for sure in 29 hours.

antgirl1 11-26-2008 12:10 PM

Lol, "scoured". I just looked it up and it basically means "to clean"....not very useful here. 8D

Well, it does have more than one definition...more than likely, I think it refers to the term's alternate meaning, "to explore". Of course, we'll just have to wait a little while and see. ;)

Bloo2daMacs 11-26-2008 03:02 PM

"An imaginary world is cleaned"

... yeah, I think it refers to exploring. 8D

Looking forward to it!

Cassini90125 11-26-2008 03:12 PM

The word also has a more negative meaning, as in "cleansed". It might be that the world we'll see tommorrow has been cleansed of humans by IF's, which is why the gang needs to rescue Frankie; humans aren't tolerated there. Not likely but an interesting possibility.

That would be interesting indeed. There's a long-running fan comic on DA(now in hiatus due to the artist/writer planning her wedding AND attending graduate school-SO glad that's not ME)which takes place 15 years into the future, in which humans had began to feel threatened by Imaginary Friends seeking basic civil rights, so a sinister government agency had been formed, the Bureau of Imaginary Control, to keep them in check, by eventually destroying all of them, and making it illegal for anyone to harbor or create an IF. It would be interesting indeed if, in "DI", the opposite is true, and the Imaginaries have completely overthrown the humans and exist without them.
Still, I'm wagering the word here, "scour", does mean to search diligently, as in the scour the countryside in search of something, rather than to "cleanse". In any case, I can hardly wait to watch it. That is the one bright spot I've got to look forward to in what has turned out to be a major let-down of a month in general, and I'm counting on Craig & Co. not to let me down. Sorry if that's a tall order, guys, but after too long a time without Foster's, not even re-runs, I am hoping for something amazing.

Whoa, I was thinking the same thing, after all it's an IMAGINARY world, possibly an alternate universe where either imaginary friends create humans, or only imaginary friends reign. I think if the latter is true, they can tell who's a human and who's not, since some imaginary friends appear human.

I find it funny that you used "tall" to describe that. 8D

Lynnie 11-26-2008 06:43 PM

Hmm, some very interesting speculations being brought up. A take on Narnia? Alice in Wonderland? A world where only IFs reside, and no human has ever seen? Any of these would delight me easily. I have no worries that Craig and Co. will deliver a masterpiece. As a movie, I'm sure they put more effort and creativity into it then normal. I'm awaiting the passing of the next 24 hours and 15 minutes (here). :)

MaxJ1800 11-26-2008 09:17 PM

The question I'd like to know is how did Madam Foster come to posess the box in the first place?

antgirl1 11-26-2008 11:11 PM

Plus if it is Thanksgiving, what the heck is Frankie doing near the box anyways? 8D

antgirl1 11-27-2008 03:50 PM

Okay, my Dish 500 defines the plot as this:

"The gang must venture into a crazy imaginary world to rescue Frankie when she disappears inside a"...No really, it ends like THAT. 8D

Well, I'll finally see what happens in the 90 minute runtime, so yay. =P

fosters home fan 11-27-2008 04:04 PM

Yay, it's on. :bloobleh: *goes off to watch it*

Cassini90125 11-27-2008 04:15 PM

That was the most enrapturing 13 minutes of TV I have ever watched. Oh, I hope the rest is this good!

And I can't believe Bloo cursed! He said "you just pissed [The king of the Toybox] off"!

No wonder this is TV-PG now! ::)

"Bad" words are still considered to be highly naughty by CN staff. :bloobleh:

Cassini90125 11-27-2008 05:34 PM

Comedy, drama, action, excitement, and best of all, heart. Absolutely worth the wait; I am totally happy. Best episode ever. :-*

A+

pitbulllady 11-27-2008 05:40 PM

That was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! While not as "ha-ha funny" as some regular episodes, it more than made up for it in adventure and pure heart! I was reminded several times of some of Clive Barker's alternate-universe novels, like Weave World or Imaigica, without the gore. There was, though, several times, a very real sense of danger and foreboding, though I never had any doubts that Frankie's ability to reason and settle disputes would win out in the end. There were many times I was on the edge of my seat, and I loved the use of the innocent toys of childhood as instruments of doom. I loved it-absolutely loved it! Ms. Faust has out-done herself this time, no doubt!

Oh, is it just me, or did the antagonist Imaginary Friend(I'm rather loathe to call him a "villain")remind anyone else of the young Buddy Pine in The Incredibles when he was in that little red-headed kid guise?

And, BN-in the opening credits, only Lauren Faust(and that IS her name; she's not just "Mrs. McCracken")is credited as the writer of this episode, though many, many others contributed, no doubt. And, Sparky will have screencaps ready when she gets 'em ready. If that takes longer than next week, oh, well. I for one do not want her to feel pressured by anyone to get the screencaps up, since we all should remember this is something she does as a favor to US, not something she's under any obligation whatsoever to do. But yeah, Destination Imagination certainly deserves an Emmy, as did Good Wilt Hunting, and I guess only time will tell if the folks who decide on such things agree.

bloonuggets 11-27-2008 05:41 PM

BTW, the credits were Madame Foster returning from a vacation (to Europe, perhaps) and the house is empty.

And we all know Sparky's gonna have screencaps as early as next week...and PBL, don't forget TIm McKeon helped out with Mrs. McCracken's work as well. If this isn't nominated for an Emmy as a farewell, then the world as we know it is upside down...

Well said. :)

This is definitely my favorite Foster's film. It is definitely worth watching again.

Nyo 11-27-2008 05:55 PM

Truly one of Foster's greatest episodes.

More kids shows should be like Foster's instead of just"SCREW HEART AND LEARNING FROM OUR MISTAKES LET'S JUST PAR-TAY!!!1shift!"

I hope that

Spoiler Below
Herriman finally learned his lesson about how hard Frankie works and has all the friends still under the Fair Chore Contract

It'd be a great piece of character development.

bloonuggets 11-27-2008 05:59 PM

We still have five episode to air here in the USA...

Let's see.

Plus,

we also did have confirmation that Mr. Herriman IS Frankie's uncle! I really had to hand it to ole' Cotton-Butt when he chomped down on the dragon's tail there, to save Frankie, in spite of their differences! And, did Bloo REALLY cuss? I thought he said, "You PEEVED him off".

Mr_Bloo_Veins 11-27-2008 06:27 PM

This is exactly why I watch Foster's.

You sure that's what he said? I could've sworn he said "peed him off". I guess I'll have to watch it again...

EDIT: just saw it a second time, he definately said "peed". the closed captioning says otherwise but that was probably just a slip up.

I didn't get to see it yet... :-(

Anyone know when there will be a repeat?

They will air again Saturday and Sunday morning (10:30 AM Eastern and 7 AM Eastern respectively). If you're on the west coast and don't have DISH Network or DirecTV, I believe you still have a chance to catch an airing tonight.

PBL:
Spoiler Below
Bloo did say "pissed him off". Even the Closed Captioning says it.

bloonuggets 11-27-2008 06:46 PM

I guess that Craig after seeing Bloo in the South Park epsiode he wanted to pay back Matt Stone and Trey Parker for allowing him to let him be in the special, so I think he let Keith say something a tad off-color.
