Having to watch my new niece while my sister went to the bathroom. She was staring a hole through me, so I waved at her and she waved back at me!:bloosmirk:

My other house sold! Yippee! No more HOA fees, or paying for a second house! I can breathe financially again...

Being home for the weekend after being away since Sunday for work.

Lynnie 07-11-2008 08:08 PM

Wonderful, looks like there are a lot of days being made here. :smed: That's always nice to see when it seems there've been a lot of not-so-great things happening lately. A great big Congratulations are due WiltsAK! And also JJ and Ducky, yay for financial breathability! Oh, I know how that feels. :yeah:

As for me, I learned that my local grocery store carries stamps today. It saved me from an extra stop by the post office. That made me happy. :bloosmirk:

Ridureyu 07-14-2008 02:47 PM

Long story. My work is really having budget trouble, and ULTIMATELY my hours are being cut to a minimum just to cover my insurance and because they need me to edit for them. However, legally-soeaking, I am bveing laid off for amonth and then re-hired at very little. Because they like me andb ecause they CURRENTLY have money, they are doing that instead of a "leave of absence" so that they can give me a severance check (and because they know I'll be hunting for another job in the meantime). So, they gave me my "severance" pay, and I just invested it in my retirement fund only to find that I have reached my yearly limit!

So, what made my day? My future is even more secure, even if this summer's going to be rough!

Seeing a funny sight.

Small boxes of Beano were hanging right in front of shelves carrying cans of beans. 8D :wiltshock:

#1: I took my car in this morning for a complete pre-Comic-Con-drive inspection, expecting to spend at least a hundred on some repair or another. Spent $50, just for the inspection, because they didn't find anything major, and they fixed the minor thing for free. :D

#2: I was pleased to see that gas prices at the station I normally go to, right next to the service shop, had dropped below $4.30 (was $4.29). That was at nine. On my way back just now it had dropped to $4.27.

some guy you dont know 07-15-2008 05:20 PM

yesterday, my day was made when i got home and realized that gas only costs around $3.90 here and not $4.30 like in indianapolis. :D

I got my economic stimulus check a few minutes ago. Definitely made my day.

McDonald's managed to cook the food right today. :P

Also, a favorite siren website of mine might be brought back. :)

Oh did you? When did you file? GM filed early and has not gotten a check yet, he was just assuming he wasn't getting one for some reason.

My accountant handled it so I'm not certain but I think it was back in March. Date of mailing is determined by the recipient's Social Security number; could be that his number hasn't come up yet. Here's the schedule:

july 11th... awesome 8D

Cassini90125 07-16-2008 05:44 PM

I found out tonight that my local Walgreens has rehired it's former manager, a good friend of mine who was well-liked by the entire staff. That made a lot of people happy. :)

On another completely unrelated matter, I tried a method for doing a clean install for my Sims 2 game to limit filesize and reduce the number of files and loading time, and it worked like a charm. ;D

Add that to the stimulus check I mentioned earlier and this is turning out to be a pretty dang good day.

ORD arrived here safe and sound!

My family had a long vacation with my parent’s best friends up in New Hampshire. It was a college reunion with three families. Each family has kids, and as we said our goodbyes, the youngest of the children (four years old. His name is Sam) ran up to me, gave me a gigantic bear hug and said in a gut-wrenchingly cute voice, “I miss you.” I was tearing up and I didn’t want to let go of him. Also, he was adopted from Russia, and Russian kids are adorable, so it was ten times as cute. That made my WEEK. Sam now knows my weakness. I’m scared now.

L.G. 07-18-2008 08:09 PM

What made my weekend? Finding out that my sister's out of town...therefore...a quiet weekend.

When I saw this post my first thought was that it was spam - after all it is one word, screamed in allcaps. A moment's thought however absolved it as possibly the best response anyone could have to the question "what made your day?"

So bravo. (Still, don't make a habit of spam-type posts.)

Lynnie 07-19-2008 07:54 PM

I took a lovely hike today, while we had some lovely weather. Burned some not so lovely calories. And had some pop corn and chocolate ice cream when I got back (oh, hello again calories!). I'd say I had a pretty good day. :)

Sparky 07-19-2008 10:05 PM

Okay, LOL, the day will be over in about an hour where I live, but this totally made it. I love fyuvy.

Medikor 07-22-2008 12:43 PM

Out of nowhere my parents gave me a hobby dremmel set that they got me for Christmas early! They just couldn't wait to give it to me so they gave it to me right away. Completely out of the blue but it made my day nonetheless.:D

Sparky 07-22-2008 04:43 PM

I need a new Dremel. :( Mine died when I was making my Max plush. He ate its soul.

Ridureyu 07-22-2008 08:59 PM

Max eats souls?

I beat Megaman 2, 3, and 5 today. This means that, in the last week, I have gone through Megamans 1-7. It's less repetitive than one would think, and really a lot of fun.

Mowing my neighbors lawn and receiving 30$

Bloonan 07-23-2008 09:37 AM

I got the best score in Rock Band I've gotten. It's in my sig, not much, but I've always wanted to get a gold star rating.

Ridureyu 07-26-2008 03:10 PM

I did several hours of volunteer work today. And you know, it feels rewarding to accomplish something for others and hang out with friends.

Lynnie 07-27-2008 12:25 AM

^Yes it does. That's awesome Rid!

I had another grreeaat day. The weather was near perfect again. Drove down to Mt. Rainier and took another nice long hike, during which we saw what I believe was a Willow Ptarmigan (a cold-climate quail like bird), which I found exciting because I always love seeing new birds I've never seen before. We also saw a doe and her fawn, and a few more adult deer from a distance. I got a few nice pictures of the bird and a great one of the fawn, and some decent ones of the other deer. And on the drive down, also got some good shots of downtown Seattle, including more of the Space Needle. I love my new camera! ;)

That's good. You'll have to show us a picture of the birdy. I was watching House Sparrows doing little ariel acrobatics over the garden catching the flying ants that have been around the past few days. All the local cats were draped over stuff in the heat so the birds could sit unmolested on all the best vantage points for this annual feast.

Lynnie 07-27-2008 07:12 PM

Here ya go Koos. :)

It's also possible it could be a grouse of some kind. I didn't catch a glimpse of its underparts due to the grass, but at looking at my bird book, the size, color and markings most closely resemble a female ptarmigan in its summer plumage.

And for any who like babies, here's a precious baby-

Anyway, I actually forgot to mention a few more things that really made my day yesterday. A friend of mine told me "You appear to have lost more weight every time I see you!" Yeah, how can that not make a girl's day? I am losing weight, I suppose. I can't afford "fun" food at the moment. Also, later last evening, my bro whom I haven't really spoken to in months texted me, and we texted back and forth a few times, it was fun. I miss him! The dork... And to end it all, we went to the Cheesecake Factory and I had one of the most delicious meals I've had in a long time. Big enough to stick with me I think for a few days.

went to the movies with my friends Stacy and Kayla last night, had a good time. "Stepbrothers" is ridiculously funny, by the way 8D

"POW!"

From the Kids say the darnedest things department.

A few days ago at the con I was in line for the Foster's signing and behind me in line were a couple of children. The kids looked over at the signing table and saw Lauren sitting there, after noticing her red hair, one of them turns to the other and says: "OMG she looks just like Frankie!" right then and there I literally had to cover my face to keep from laughing my head off.

I guess it's one of those cases of childhood innocence bringing a smile to my face. 8D

some guy you dont know 07-28-2008 08:58 PM

Finally getting around to getting the majority of my team to lvl 100 (not by training, silly) in diamond, plus evolving my pikachu. I'm glad i dont have to work on that again. So yeah that made me happy.

Also finding stuff at the local goodwill store for 50 cents that, when new, would cost well around at least $15 or $20. :D

EDIT: not just that pokedex i mentioned in another thread, i mean clothes. seriously, who pays that much for a shirt?

L.G. 07-29-2008 08:04 PM

Get comfy cause I got a lot to share with you all right now.

Last Monday was crazy:wiltshock::weirded:. First, my co-workers saw a police chase in progress, and the suspect drove right in front of them! The cop that was supposed to cover our work zone was involved in the chase, and his cruiser was totaled (he was fine however). The suspect was later caught despite cutting through fields, and it turns out that he was a 13 year old local who stole his neighbor's Cadillac Eldorado.

That same day, a man ran out of gas and pulled into our work area (he was the 2nd one that day). Turns out he was drunk, and another cop took him in. (was mentioned in the local paper later in the week)

And yesterday, the state trooper that my supervisor hired ran out of gas just shortly after he was told to go home 8D. He flagged me and my co-worker and then asked if we had a small gas can. We didn't have one on hand, so he radioed his fellow officers instead. That was the fourth person that ran out of gas in the four weeks.

Sparky 07-30-2008 05:52 PM

I don't know if this exactly "made my day" but it was kind of cool...

Okay first off, I have this habit that's going to get my ass kicked some day: I treat kids like intelligent human beings. I talk to them the same way I talk to adults. I don't mean, like, babies or toddlers of course, but older kids. And what I mean about it possibly getting me in trouble some day is, if a kid is rude to me I snap at them the same way I'd snap at an adult - NOBODY gets away with being rude to me if I can do anything about it. And my gut reaction to being kicked or insulted is to confront the person, even if it's a kid, and even if their parents are right there.

So today in the pet store I was waiting to get some crickets for my tarantulas (they are HUNGRY after our vacation) and there was a young girl there with her mom also getting crickets. She asked me what I was getting crix for and I said tarantulas and she was all "EWWW, how can you have TARANTULAS??"

I never let anyone get away with that. I let her know in no uncertain terms that it is NOT acceptable, ever, to insult someone's pets like that. You don't have to like my pets, but if you insult them or me for having them I'm not going to meekly bow my head or whatever. Just because they're not fluffy bunnies they and I don't deserve to be insulted. Anyways she said nothing, and neither did her mom.

Later when GM and I were playing with the birds she came over (I don't know if it was on her own or her mom told her to) and she apologised. She said she has rats and that happens to her too, and yes it's rude. That was just kinda cool, nobody (kid or adult) ever apologises to me for insulting my tarantulas. I still feel bad for snapping at her, as I usually do when I have tell a kid off (it's not like she was *really* rude, it's just I'm tired of hearing "ew gross what's wrong with you for having spiders??").
