It's an offshoot of the main Sims 2 franchise. It's in a different, non-compatible format that the main game won't mesh with, so I don't use it. It's likely as good as the rest of the game series, which is very good indeed if you can put up with scores of glitches, occasional bad coding, and insidious hidden malware.

Sims 3 is supposedly due in early 2009 or possibly late 2008. There are very few details available about it at this point other than the addition of a "trait" system to give them more individual personalities and upgrades to their social behaviours. I had been looking forward to it quite a lot and was prepared to spend a few thousand dollars on a new system to play it but if it contains SecuROM then EA Games can go **** themselves, I won't buy it, and I strongly recommend that no one else buy it, either.

Writing from my Wii, in honor of the TGAoB&M game to Wii I bought today! :D

I see ;/ But at leat some sims 2 games have been entertaining, like My Sims to Wii and DS. Castaway too, actually. I'm REALLY not a big fan of EA, so I'm not hoping for something awesome when Sims 3 comes, just... they're really milking the 2 dry

Don't get me wrong; the game has brought a lot of joy into my life. EA, unfortunately, is a short-sighted company. From what I've been reading lately, working conditions there aren't particularly good; I've seen memo's from management on such delightful subjects as using fear of job loss to increase worker productivity. It's been theorized that the horrendous situation with bad coding in the Bon Voyage expansion may be because their best people have been pulled from Sims 2 to work on Sims 3, although then again the game has always had a reputation for glitches (nothing like this, however). As for the situation with SecuROM, I don't even know where to begin. Threads on the subject have been deleted on the main site, and people have been banned for the high crime of demanding an explanation. I don't blame EA for wanting to prevent it's products from being copied and they're entitled to take measures to stop it. But they are not entitled to disrupt people's systems, interfere with legitimate programs, reconfigure security settings, and leave ports open to viruses and trojans, all of which SecuROM does. To top it off, it doesn't prevent copying, either; pirated versions of the game were available less than 24 hours after it was released. Great job, EA, great job. I love the game and I will continue to play it (after I get everything fixed) but until EA admits their mistake and does something about it, I will purchase nothing more from them.

Super Mario 64 DS. I got the 100 coin stars for both Tall Tall Mountain and Tick Tock Clock. 9 more stars to go!

Zeitgheist 10-27-2007 09:15 AM

Finished story mode on The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy on Wii :) I actually liked it. A LOT. Tons of stuff to unlock. Nice cellshading graphics. Nice gameplay. And hilarious all the way through... especially the Mojo Meltdowns... why do they ALL end in incenation? XD Nice dilaogue too and breaking of the fourth wall to question why the player gets enjoyment from seeing them all beat each other to death, oh and "Don't mention the plotholes." 8D

*nods* EA has been slipping for a while now. Their quality control in terms of buggy and glitchy games is awful. EA's community support is shot too-they've made promises to support their games with patches but drop the games once their newest title is released. :(

Almost every Sims 2 expansion has required a patch, sometimes more than one. The real fun is contacting tech support. Everytime I've emailed them I've had to do it twice because the first reply they send is always "EA Games is not legally responsible..." blah, blah, blah. I don't care, I just need the registry codes, thank you. From what I've heard they've been far worse in the past months, including hanging up on callers, being rude, giving out false or misleading information, things like that. I'm done with them; if I need technical help I'll go to MATY.

And this is why I don't buy used games(assuming it was used). I almost always end up with a problem of some kind and they're usually not priced all that much cheaper. :(

yeah i'm going in this week. Damn waste of gas :edmad:

jekylljuice 10-28-2007 04:51 AM

I recently rediscovered a love of video games (of sorts) with Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (on my GBA - I’ve yet to catch on with this whole DS revolution), a surprisingly addictive and involving game about managing your own farm and integrating yourself with the local community. Right now I have a distinctly Foster’s influenced barnyard - I call my chickens Coco, Goo, Berry and Eurotrish, my pony Kip, my sheep Frankie and my cow Duchess.

Notable events thus far:

1)I undertook a perilous mission for the Mineral Town Mayor in order to spare him the humiliation of losing a bet with the mayor in the neighbouring town (which as far as I can see doesn’t even exist). He rewarded me by giving me a shiny piece of golden lumber, the only practical use of which, I discovered the hard way, is to lure a mob of angry villagers to your farm every morning with little purpose but to insult you for your decadence. If you want to maintain good relationships with the rest of the populace, all you can do is shut that lumber away in your cupboard and forget that it even exists. I’m so mad at the mayor right now. :edmad:

2) Elli, the girl I've been pursuing from the start (you play a young romantic male in the game, with a choice of five different objects of affection), seems to be dropping hints that I should finally propose to her, but I've found out that she won't accept my offer until I have another extension done on my house and buy a double bed. :P

3) Everyone in Mineral Town forgot my birthday. Even Elli. :'(

Zeitgheist 10-28-2007 05:49 AM

Bah, that clumsy Elli only cares about the doctor anyways :(

That's why I married Karen... despite the obvious set-down that she's a down right alcoholic XD I mean, when she got pregnant she thought she had had way much to drink the previous day. Popuri is another nice choice, only that, her brother hates you and wants you to die D:

Harvest Moon to DS has boring girls to marry. I want to marry the witch, but appearantly the english version of the game is glitched and ruins that option for you D: Then I have my eyes set on the mermaid... but how will we have children? I'd like to see the game explain where mermaid babies come from

jekylljuice 10-28-2007 03:32 PM

The big advantage you have over the doctor is that he's far too obtuse to cotton onto the fact that Elli blatantly likes him. Gives you enough time to stick your foot in the door and intervene.

That was actually one of the key reasons why I singled out Elli as the object of my desires...I felt kinda bad for her. She works hard six days a week to support her hyperactive kid brother and chair-ridden grandmother (I assume we're supposed to read in between the lines that her parents are dead), the one bright spark of her situation being that she gets to spend much of that time working alongside a man toward whom she clearly feels a great deal of warmth...and he doesn't even realise. I felt compelled to be a new bright spark for her.

The key to Elli's heart is milk and lots of it. So far, I've made very little financial profit with Duchess, since nearly all of her lactations end up in Elli. It's a heck of an investment, but hopefully it'll pay off when I finally do get that house extension and the place becomes fit for two inhabitants.

Oh yes, and I've been witness to Rick's deeply disapproving behaviour toward potential suitors for his sister Popuri...fortunately all directed at Kai and not me. :P

some guy you dont know 10-28-2007 03:41 PM

pokemon diamond.

that game is honestly the only reason i bought a DS. fun fun. and i even have a celebi. :D

Kamikaze 10-28-2007 04:11 PM

Odin Sphere

If you own a PS2/3, and like RPG's, I recommend this game. Graphics aren't the best in the world, but It's very addicting

There are SO many things wrong with that sentence 8D 8D 8D
Makes me start to wonder if IF's have sexual orientations... hm~

Anyways, now I wanna play Harvest Moon (the gba version) again, for GIRLS. I wanted to marry Kai last time I played but it's such tedious work since he only comes around in the summers and pineapples are expensive :sadbendy: But who the hell wants Rick or that doctor? and Cliff just leaves at one point :P

I really should start a thread for Friend's codes and general Pokemon discussion. I just haven't gotten around to it. I want to have a nice big 1st post with some explanations about EV training/breeding/natures and such first.

It's amazingly deep gameplay when you get into it. I know a few people who hate the concept of end game playstyles like that though. 8D

Mayor Adam West 10-30-2007 12:34 PM

Heh, I had just recently, finished playing Spider-Man: Friend or Foe on the 360, and I have to say, it's not too bad, however, I was dissapointed in the design of both Nick Fury and Blade, they did not look like what they're suppose to in the comics.

The Green Goblin and Doc Ock's designs were pretty well done as for the other characters, I'm not too worried, although, the Lizard did look a little strange and acted more heroic than what he was suppose to, but that didn't bother me.

Too bad Kraven the Hunter wasn't in the game, it would've been cool to use him.

Pawbah 10-30-2007 12:58 PM

Yoshi's Island for the DS. I love my Yoshi.

Medikor 10-30-2007 03:18 PM

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. A classic game that just screams to be played in the month of October.:D

Subzeroace 10-30-2007 06:07 PM

Grimgrimoire for PS2; a lovely Harry Potter rip off that makes up for it with it's super fun =D

emperor26 10-30-2007 06:08 PM

Last game I played would have to be Okami. Very fun game that was entirely original and innovative, and awe-inspiring to look at.

montitech 10-31-2007 07:54 PM

Last game I played was - Spider
On Windows
Currently I have a 35% win ratio on Medium with over 1100 games played.

Monty :-[

Mayor Adam West 11-01-2007 11:46 AM

Conan on Xbox 360, where it wasn't too good where as God of War is better than that by far.

Test Drive Unlimited on Xbox 360....never try and drive around all of Hawaii, it takes too long! :P
But yeah, that's not a bad game at all.

Mayor Adam West 11-22-2007 11:05 PM

Ha, been playing Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz on the PS2 with my mum and two sisters.
It's not a bad game really....I've won most games....

Shelltoon 11-22-2007 11:28 PM

Been playing quite a lot of Super Mario Galaxy. That is such a fun, and cute little game that can be enjoyed by ANYONE.

some guy you dont know 11-23-2007 05:36 AM

except for people who dont own a wii :P

i myself was playing sonic the hedgehog again. always fun. if only i could get the scrap brain zone without the level select..

Medikor 11-23-2007 05:55 AM

I've been playing Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn for the Wii. As a big fan of Path of Radiance I couldn't be happier with the story. Old faces return along with many interesting new ones.
I think the idea of the first chunk of the game showing the side of the defeated, and now oppressed, Deain nation that served as the evil empire in POR is a great idea. And the FMV cut-scenes are as amazing as ever! Epic, epic stuff.:D

Subzeroace 11-23-2007 12:22 PM

Silent Hill: 0rigin! I beat it in two days! It was only $29 at wall*mart, awesome price for a new release! It was great ^^

I though I'd, ya know... learn something about The Order (the evil cult in it) I didn't already know though :\

Bloonan 11-23-2007 06:37 PM

Super Mario Galaxy. 36 stars, I beleave.

Keep at it. My brother thought the game was a little short until he got all the stars.
Spoiler Below
Let's just say that you essentially double the games replay value when you get all those stars.;)

Medikor 11-29-2007 03:02 PM

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. The Rabbids are just as hilarious as ever! 8D

some guy you dont know 11-29-2007 03:05 PM

sonic 3 and knuckles. probably my favorite game ever. although im not very good at it. seeing as i couldnt get past marble garden (thats what its called, right?) act 2 as knuckles. yeah, i need to work on my very bad video game skills.

BabyCharmander 11-30-2007 11:47 AM

I'm playing Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Quest. It's an old GBC monster-raising game that is very, very addictive. @___@ For those who haven't played, it's... sort of like Pokemon. Sort of. There are a ton of monsters to recruit (you don't catch them--you give them meat when you find them in the wild and HOPE they want to join you after you beat them in battle) and you can breed them together to get different monsters. What's fun is that every time you breed your monsters the offspring grows to be stronger than the parents. The game also has a plot, but I've beaten it already and am doing the after-game side-quests, while working on a breeding chain to get some more monsters. I have over 150 now, I think...

Medikor 12-14-2007 02:03 PM

Final Fantasy IX. One of my all time favorites in the series. I don't know how but this game has become a Christmas tradition for me. I think what made me like this one so much more than VII and VIII was that it was more cheerful by not having the brooding and gloomy main protagonists of the last games while also returning to the more medieval setting of the earlier titles.

GrimTheLost 12-15-2007 04:10 PM

The Orange Box. Portal is pure insanity and Team Fortress 2 is pretty fun. I have barely touched the other games yet. When I finish Portal I might touch Half-Life 2 Episode 2.

Sparky 12-15-2007 06:11 PM

I'm currently working my way through Season 1 of Sam & Max (I've two episodes to go). I don't have lots of free time so I don't work on it as often as I'd like. I'm also chipping away at A Bug's Life for Playstation because I never finished my PC version, and I'm once again trying to beat Stretch Panic for PS2, because I couldn't beat the last enemy last time I tried and my savegame got erased so I had to start over. (And I am now finally back where I was then.) I am NOT a good gamer, so-called "easy" games like Stretch Panic are actually challenging for me, so don't laugh that I didn't whiz through it in a few hours like apparently everyone else has. :P

Ridureyu 12-16-2007 01:27 PM

Started up Resident Evil 4 again. I've beaten it before, but it's still TENSE.

Ricky Fieldmouse 12-16-2007 02:44 PM

Super Paper Mario. I finally got through Flipside's Pit of 100 Trials. Now only the Flopside Trials and all of Chapter 6 remains. DX
